  1. I'm having a repeating issue. It happened with your initial release and I'm having the same issue with the latest version. I have the stand alone SC4 Delux installed to "G:\SimCity\SimCity 4". Here's the settings I have selected (though I get the same errors universally): Here's the errors I get:
  2. Logic_Bomb, I bleeping love you! I had my SC4 setup correctly, but have since reformatted my machine and forgot to back it all up. I'm about to reinstall SC4 on steam and was going to reinstall NAM, etc. and this will help a lot. Thanks a bunch!
  3. I want to make a really large, hi-rez image of my city. It will require me to take multiple screenshots and piece them together in Photoshop. To my knowledge, SC4 doesn't have a screenshot key, does it? If it does, would someone please share that info with me? Currently I have to use Window's Print Screen, alt-tab out, paste it into PS and repeat. It'd be a lot easier if I could just take a series of screenshot and batch them into PS all at once.
  4. Screenshot Hotkey?

I think this is what I needed. I'll try it when I get home. Thanks!
  5. I'm sure someone has done this, but I searched under a few different words and didn't come up with anything significant. Is there a megapack or something I can get that will add to the existing buildings in SC4RH? I don't want crazy, strange buildings, or buildings that're rewards/functional/etc. I just want to spice up the variety of my offices, apartment towers, and industrial areas. I desperately want to make it so that I won't keep seeing 10 versions of the same 15 story residential building in one screen. Anyone have any suggestions?
  6. For a project I want to do, I'm looking for a pre-constructed city/region that I can download. I'm looking for something that is very developed with a population approaching 500k+ on a decent-sized map. I'm looking for something similar to a real-world citiy, with a mixture of skyscrapers, mid-rise structures, highways, avenues, and the like. I'd prefer it if it was done with standard SC4RH, so I don't have to worry about compatability and getting custom files. Does anyone have a city like this that they'd be willing to share?
  7. I will try to upload some images for reference later, but for now, please try and follow what I'm getting at. When you put down a zone, regardless of type, do you have as much trouble as I do getting the lots to properly face the roads and the streets? I know you can hold down combinations of Shift or Alt to get change the orientation of the lots, but I still find myself not getting alignment with the roads 1/3 times. I don't know if it's even possible, but has someone made a mod, or a ptach, or SOMETHING that makes the lots orient them selves to the road in a more intelligent manner? Having to babysit each lot to make sure it's facing the right way when I'm dropping down a new neighborhood is really annoying.
  8. Better lot alignment algorythm

To those of you who said "it always works for me", here is a screenshot to illustrate my problem. The block on the left was done using the game's calculations. The one on the right was me manually laying down a row of residential 3-cells deep, then doing the same thing on the right side. Obviously the manually laid out zone is much more well organized and is connected to streets. My gripe can be summarized in my screenshot. Why isn't the game smart enough to do this everytime? Surely having the outcome where all lots are connected is better than having lots face each other.
  9. Help! High Wealth Sims job issues

So, let me get this straight. I've never really been interested in the regional aspect of SC4. But if I want to make a large, successful, well populated city, I will probably need to create neighboring cities so that it will have a high enough cap to allow for this? I really would rather just continue to focus on my MAIN city, but I suppose if it's stagnating in population, then I should start up some new neighbors and build those out too?

  16. NAM tutorials

I tried to do a search for NAM Tutorials, but no matter what, I kept getting this error message: "Your search contained ignored words, ignored words are words like a,and,to,between. Please re-construct your search without these ignored words." I had NAM about 2 years ago when I was playing around with SC4RH, but it's been awhile and I've forgotten nearly everything now. I have a fresh install of SC4 on my machine now, and have just installed the newest NAM. Unfortunately, I'm having some trouble using the GLR in my city. Do I have to use the "puzzle pieces" for everything? It's extremely time consuming and frustrating having to demolish my entire Avenue in my large city just to place GLR down the median one at a time. Same goes for the stations. Do I have to demo the area before placing it, or am I doing it wrong? If someone has any up-to-date guides on youtube for how to use the NAM tools, that would be helpful. The only GLR guide I found on Youtube wasn't exactly recent and said I needed to use elevated rail to make GLR work. I'm very confused at the moment...can anyone point me in the right direction so I can learn how to make this stuff work?
  17. I just reinstalled SC4 after about a 2 year haiiatus and I'm amazed to have stumbled across such an active and creative community! I never knew there were so many add-ons an mods for this game and I can't wait to give them all a shot. I'm going to dload NAM tonight, along with a handful of other neat mods and see how they work out for me. But enough of that, I have a quick question; How far would you suggest I space my roads when starting out a new city? I usually did them at 7 grids apart, but I realized that when filling in residential and sometimes commercial zones, it would always want to add many uneccessary streets. I usually have to hold ALT or a combination of the setting keys to make them line up back to back and face the street properly. Also, it is really annoying when I go back later and have to place a bustop on the corner, and then the "road access" to the remaining grid spaces behind the bus stop are lost. Is there a mod that will auto-rotate the direction these lots to face the road while maximizing the space provided and minimize additional streets bisecting my grids? EDIT: I'm also surprised that you can't run a monorail or elevated train system over an avenue. Systems like this exist worldwide (Seattle has a monorail that goes down the center of the street and the elevated trains in Chicago and New York both ride "on top" of existing roadways). Is there a mod that allows for this common-sense feature?
  18. NAM Questions OK, I got NAM installed and all I can say is WOW. Talk about adding a lot to the game. It makes me wish the real game had these incorporated into it. And please don't misunderstand me to sound ungrateful to those who made NAM, because I relize you practically pulled off a miracle with this plug-in, but how come the "Draggable Elevated Rail over Road" pieces aren't....well...draggable? It only lets me plop down one at a time, and this takes a while for me to go and add an El system above my main roads in my largest city. Am I doing something wrong, or is this piece a misnomer? Also, I noticed that NAM lets you place the El above a roads or streets, but not down the middle of an avenue. I realize that I could simply use the TRAM in road to do this, but I was wondering if someone has made it possible for an Elevated Rail to go down the middle of the avenue, to avoid disrupting traffic. Custom Landmarks One thing I'm surprised I haven't found yet, despite all my searches, is an Arcology, like the ones in SC2000. There's GOT to be a few out there, but the one's I have seen aren't anything like the ones from SC2000. Surely these exist for SC4000 as Landmarks or something, right? Has anyone tried making "The Citadel" from Half Life 2 as a landmark? I'm thinking about getting into making some of my own buildings for the game, but as of right now I haven't looked into how to do this. Other Plug-Ins Can anyone suggest some other Plug-Ins for me that won't cause problems with NAM and the On-Road Mass Transit Mod? I saw a post asking this question recently, but I can't seem to find it now. =\ Thank you for all your help and patience.
