  1. The ST 6.0 Department of Technical Affairs

I can confirm that I have the exact same problem as Loney when I land on the home page. FireFox 3.6.11 WinXP If that helps.

  3. What Happened to SC4Devotion/BSC exchange?

I can confirm as well, you can search for it, but if you actually GO to sc4devotion.com all you get is a squatter site.
  4. Tropico 3!

I just finished playing through the two scenarios in the demo and I have this to say about the game: Totally. Awesome. First, I have to say that the game looks spectacular. Once you load into a scenario the environments look absolutely stunning. You'll need a pretty decent rig to see all the graphical glory, but it is worth it just to pan around the maps and take in the views. Second, the game plays well. Once you get through the tutorial (which is a little slow, but very helpful) it's a breeze to hop into the first mission and start plopping buildings and issuing edicts. Controls are straightforward; the camera is easy to move around; and it's an absolute delight to place curved roads and angled buildings using nothing but the mouse. There's still some learning to do beyond the tutorial, but that's just part of the game. As you progress you find yourself delving deeper and deeper into the nuances of your island paradise (or police state). Third, the game has some real depth. It's a tricky balancing act trying to keep the various factions happy with you (and therefore not turning into rebels who could attack and overthrow you). It can also be a real challenge to set up a proper economy early on without dropping into the red. Combine these things with the deceptively simple task of trying to provide jobs and homes for the growing population and you've got the makings of a really fascinating, challenging and rewarding gameplay experience. There are some things that aren't available in the demo. The most obvious being the tourism buildings and most of the higher-end residential and industrial structures are locked. You also aren't able to use the "keep playing" button once you've met the objectives of a scenario. It is, of course, a demo, but these things really made me want to purchase the full game immediately. It took me four hours to play the second scenario and even longer for the first. The Tropico 3 demo gave me a heck of a lot of gameplay, but as a demo it did it's job and made me want to buy this game. There are achievements I haven't gotten, buildings I haven't been able to place, economic options I haven't tried, plenty more scenarios to complete, and an entire sandbox mode that I'd love to get my hands on. If the game were available to buy now, I would buy it. It is, bar none, the most fun game of its type I've played since SC4. My recommendation: get the demo now and play the heck out if it because once you start you won't be able to get enough until the full game is released.
  5. Simtropolis Beta Key Giveaway!

Haven't been around here lately, but this is an awesome way to give away beta keys. Hopefully my eyes are keen enough to spot one of the words!
  6. SWG

I used to play SWG a heck of a long time ago. Started on launch day and played until the NGE. For anyone familiar with the Starsider server if you ever pass through Vagabond's Rest on Naboo I lived there and helped build it. It's probably a heck of a lot different now, but back in it's heyday it was a pretty great player city to be a part of.
  7. The Definition of "Christian"

Alright, here's a question for the Catholics out there... Why pray to God through Mary or the saints to begin with? God is there. He's open to us. He wants to hear from us. Why do we need an intermediary? If God loves each and every one of us unquestioningly and unconditionally then wouldn't he be just as willing to hear our personal words of prayer as he would the words of those who have served him in the past? If I'm a child of God, I'd like to be able to actually talk directly with my Father. Again, why should I talk with him through someone else?
  8. Detroit:do the collapse

tSlater, if you live in Grand Rapids then I'm probably no more than about a 15-30 minute drive from you. vershner, It's a shame that you (and many others) don't have a clue about Michigan beyond Detroit. That's one of the failings of our State, in my opinion, is the complete lack of national and international tourism advertising. Here's a question for you: What State in the US has more miles of sand beaches than any other? Michigan. That's right, more sand beaches than Florida, California or Hawaii. Most people don't know that. As far as Detroit is concerned though... all that's there is a lot of industry. Now that the auto makers are having trouble and closing things down Detroit has really taken a downturn. Some abandoned houses have recently sold for as little as $1. Yes, ONE DOLLAR. Honestly, if it weren't for Detroit I think the world at large would have a much better impression of Michigan. The History Channel did a really great series called "The States" a few years ago. If you can find it, watching the section on Michigan might give you a better idea of what the state is really like.
