  1. I personally have never had a problem with the Steam copy of Sim City 4; when I upgraded to Windows 8 it worked just fine on that.

http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2015-05-26/shorten-to-introduce-bill-legalising-same-sex-marriage/6499124 Australia could have marriage equality by the end of the year. For a country where politicians have been reluctant to do anything, this appears to be great progress.

4976: I'm in Maryborough again, away for 3 days. Girlfriends new job is going great!
  6. The 10,000 Post thread V3

4963: I normally drive on the M79 to Maryborough to visit my girlfriend (who now lives 2.5 hours away,) but in this instance she was staying in Warnambool so I took the M1 to see her that night, a road that has cameras all over and is 100 between Melbourne and Geelong. I'm used to a road where it was 110. On my fine they give you the "recorded speed" (so I was actually doing 116km/h) and the alleged speed. They will book you for anything above 2km/h or 2% over if your speed was above 100km/h. Not judging here philforhockey, but if you had "something" in your car, why were you travelling so fast?

4956: Received a speeding fine in the mail the other day for doing 113 in a 100 zone. $295 fine and 3 demerit points. Hopefully if I write them a letter stating I haven't had an offence in over 3 years and owning up to it, the police will drop it and issue a caution.
  8. Very sad stuff indeed. Watch this space.

On a side note, it's different. Should mean that people pay attention to the crossings for once hahaha. Although the young people here seem to be for all that, I couldn't imagine it taking off any time soon. It seems we are still quite old fashioned, unfortunately.
  10. This calls to mind the Waterfall Disaster outside of Sydney in 2003, where the driver had a heart attack, and his dead weight defeated the "dead man switch" ; the train went down a steep incline and derailed at high speed around a sharp bend. Is there any chance that this might have happened here? Or is there no incline leading to the bend/not steep enough? Do you use this line? Good to know you weren't on the train.
  11. Show us your City Transit Maps!

Looks awesome! It's a bit weird that everything is in German except for the word 'key', though. EDIT: Nice that you added the German flag in the key. You know, I never noticed that order in the key! Must have been a complete coincide! As for the translation for "Key" I couldn't think of a word apart from the metal type (der Schlüssel) and thought it wouldn't have been the same word, so used the English. I'm hoping a native speaker could think of one. Eeyup, your best bet would to be write Legende. Either way you can always check real life maps and see what they write.
  12. Soviet War Memorial

A brilliant work, one that captures the drabness that was (and sometimes still is) East Berlin! Where did you find the Palast der Republik though?
  13. Shooting In Garland Tx At Mohammed cartoon contest

It is certainly a thorny issue with the line being blurred. Hate speech may be "free" for the reasons Lexus argued, but then where does that leave hate speech that incites violence and harassment, even if the original speech was not harrassing? I'm not sure whether I would be in favour of restricting hate speech as both arguments are perfectly valid.
  14. Shooting In Garland Tx At Mohammed cartoon contest

I did indeed find out that the group has been classified as a hate group. Why then was thus group allowed to host this event?
  15. Shooting In Garland Tx At Mohammed cartoon contest

The problem is, I feel the organisers would not see it the same and would do everything in their power to stop any event threatening their religion. Besides, what was even the point of this? To show how much "we luv jesus and being rednecks and racists?"
  16. Shooting In Garland Tx At Mohammed cartoon contest

Just because you can, doesn't mean you shouldn't. Although I don't condone the shooters actions, I can see how this would happen. I saw her being interviewed on the news and was disgusted with her disregard for safety, and how she was almost 'inviting' this controversy.
  17. East-West Link dead

The thing to me is that this new distributor sounds an awful lot like stage two of the EWL. I am in favour of the North East Link, as a majority of the traffic that exits at Bulleen Rd heads up Rosanna Rd and onto the Ring Road (I know, I sit through this nearly every morning). The issue for EWL with me was that a lot of the traffic was using Alexandra Pde to get to local areas, and not on towards Flemington. The North East Link would be better as there is a significant portion of traffic heading between the two roads it is linking. Heidelberg is a nightmare to get through, with plenty of trucks thrown into the mix.

4903 $20? Dream on. It's starting to get up to $23-26 nowadays. Like I know it's expensive, but where will the upper threshold be before a black market becomes viable? (yes I know chop chop exists, but yeah). Seems Australia just likes to tax everything.

4900: It's one of those things that you get used to. Every smoker hated it at first but then the nicotine hit grows on you, you know you're not addicted to it so you think another can't hurt, then it gets to a point where you are a habit smoker but you can't pinpoint when you got hooked. Either way, I'm going great! I wanted to kill myself for the first three days but I stood strong in not buying any, and now I'm fine! Three days may seem like forever, but once you're past it it will all seem so silly and you'll be breathing easier.
  20. http://mobile.news.com.au/world/asia/the-executions-of-bali-nine-duo-andrew-chan-and-myuran-sukumaran/story-fnh81fz8-1227325701195 The Ringleaders of the 'Bali 9', a group who failed to smuggle heroin from Indonesia to Australia in 2004, have been shot last night despite repeated calls for clemency. Andrew Chan, 31 and Myurman Sukumaran, 34, were both noted for their reform in prison with Sukumaran becoming an accomplished painter and Chan finding God. They were executed with 6 others this morning. A seventh, was also expected to be executed however she was given an 11th hour reprieve as someone had come forward claiming to have set her up. The issue has been highly controversial in Australia, with the country divided between those supporting Indonesia's decision and those crying for mercy. Australia in wake of the act, has withdrawn it's ambassador from Indonesia.
  21. Foreign Drug Smugglers Executed in Indonesia

Sorry, but I cannot see how banning Saints Row IV is in any way relevant to the execution or the issues surrounding the matter.
