I have developed my first mod! Here is what it does: Triples the radii of: -Elementary School -Large Elementary School -High School -Large High School -Public Library -All 3 Private Schools Reduces Bus Costs of: -Elementary School - now $10 -Large Elementary School - now $50 -High School - now $10 -Large High School- now $50 Increases Capacity of -All 3 Private Schools - to 10,000 The reason for these changes is to make the schools in SC4 more realistic. In real life, buses for a school will travel much farther than about 4 blocks.Also, the costs of the buses have been changed because they frequently are more than the school maintainance (in normal SC4). The capacities of the private schools have been changed so that they will not fill up with the increased radii and lower the grade of education in the city. The mod is in the attached folder. If you would like to test this mod, download it, unzip it, and read the readme. This mod requires Rush Hour. If you have comments/questions/problems about this mod, post on this thread.

My Thoughts 1. Full 3d - This actually sounds like a really bad idea. It would be much harder to code 3d graphics, and would be extremely taxing on the system, and there seems to be barely any benefit to doing so. 4-8 viewing angles would offer enough ways to view a city, and allow significant reductions in code. 2. Spline based roads - Definitely something we should add. But straight roads at various angles should be left to, so I propose a method of making roads by placing two points, connecting them with a straight road. Then you can place splines to change the shapes of the curves, and eventually press a button or something to finalize the road, which would place it. We should also include options to make curves that are perfectly circular, to avoid frustration. Another good idea would be to save each curve and allow the player to reselect it and change options, such as number of lanes, so it would be easier to upgrade streets to road, road to avenue, etc. 3. The Free Grid - I think the grid should be left in, but instead of making rigid tiles, it should be more like a plane, where objects take up space on the plane but are bounded by verticies and curves. For example, a curved road would take up the space x/2 meters on either side of the curve drawn to build it, where x is how wide a real road is.Buildings could be bounded by verticies. All points should be in decimal values, so you can truly place anything anywhere, as long as it does not overlap anything. So a building could be bounded by the points (3.454, 5.23) (3.454,7.23) (6.454, 7.23) (6.454, 5.23) rather than (3,5) (3,7) (6,7) (6,5) like it would in SC4.

After the temporary failure of The Tower of Aryshan, I have decide to make some smaller buildings first. I decided to make some low wealth buildings. If you have any pics of ghettos/tenements/low rent apartments/etc, please post them here. I already have found quite a few on google. I need pics to give me an idea of what the buildings I make should look like.

The Citarthran Vyhin Nor Sanance This is the first GOOD region that I've ever made. Now that I'm more familiar with the game, I have decided to make an awesome region. I will make the entire region as realistic as possible. The map I'm using is from the MEX. It's Grenoble - the Real One by bizarboy. It was too small for me so I resized the grayscale heightmap to make a 32 x 32 km region. When I imported the heightmap, it took 43 Minutes to import the map. On a Pentium 4, 2 GHz processor. Here's the region: EDIT: I don't have the desert terrain anymore. I'm back to normal terrain. I will be using the following mods: -Transit Supermod V2.0, Perfect Version with 10x capacity and 10x speed (The best mod, in my opinion)https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/9.gif> -Teirusu's Snowcapped Desert Terrain (I deleted this one soon after I started) -Teirusu's Realistic Water -Zero Bridge Height -4 Extra terrain tools (They're in the plugins folder, but I didn't use them, I used a heightmap for the terrain) And I will be using NO cheats at all to make this region.https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/9.gif> Please post your comments! The Flood of Jupiter reminds me of something I wanted to make myself for SC4, but I would need to make many mods, custom maps, custom ploppables, and the region would be a circle with radius of 150 km, which is about 17,671 medium cities. I wonder how long it would take to render that..........

By request, I have made an SC4 vanilla compatible version of my mod (I think). I haven't tested it because I have RH installed but I beleive it should work. For people having the bus funding to 0 problem- I have made the school radius big enough so that even if the funding is at 0, you can place it in the center of a medium map and it will still cover the whole map. I plan to make a version of this mod that effects all services, including schools, health, police, and fire. All of those have unrealistic radii in SC4. -
