Rubik, if I recall on the edge between the roof and the wall of the buildings, there were lights that almost resembled a christmas light effect. I'll see if I can post a picture later today. -

I like your idea of a prop pack which would include memorials, so people who want to place them would be able to. ---------------- ...and to the rescue I came... Images Explain Themselves. The Marriott might need to be slightly lowered because it was about half as tall as the lowest sky lobby of the towers ( here is a picture). Also, I'm not sure about the south tower, but the north tower had an awning at the West Street entrance (I haven't yet found pictures on the Internet; maybe DoubleJ or kid_a can help). For the plaza, will you include props like food stands and souvenir kiosks as part of the planned prop pack, or just leave the plaza as-is?---------------- I'm on it, I have pics! haha, although it's from 9-11 after the first impact. I say you go for the shadows to make it more realistic, since that's what you've been going for since the dawn of this project. But, whatever looks the best is fine with me. As for what age you want the world trade center to be: go for the 2000 or late 90s era when the WTC and Downtown manhattan was at it's zenith before september 11th, that way it brings out the best on the towers and what the WTC project stands for. As for an issue, is there a way that you can have a tower without the 25,000 jobs, like I know there was an edit for the Empire State Building and the Bank of America tower that would allow jobs, but not let the buildings become abandoned. It's not major but I think it would be a nice enhancement. The thing I would love to see is the WTC to increase the amount of traffic within the area, increase pedestrian movement around these buildings, and the underground complex become functional, and generate jobs and revinue. Also what would be extremely nice if you could make the complex's parking garage become fully functional, and have freight, misc trucks, such as movers come in and out (for new tenants), and of course, normal cars. Plus maybe having the hotel act like a resort hotel w/ jobs. I'm sorry if it seems a bit much, but it would be amazing. As always, amazing work so far, and grat job. Pics and stuff may take a day or two because my computer network is down and i'm on another computer, argh. PS: I may start work on the new WTC 7 tower that's being built, as soon as my bat skills are good enough, though. I've basically started fiddling around with BAT, I have a good idea going, but still some stuff needs to be fixed out. If you don't mind rubik, or if you wanted to do the following buildings, i'll let you do them. But basically my work will follow as in order, and i wont give up here, so let the following projects begin in this order: -New 7WTC (Now under construction) -Deutsch Bank Tower -World Financial Center -

I would love to see some of your other pictures.---------------- Unfortunately no, I don't. All the images i've gathered are off my TV program from watching tv, DVD screenshots (such as the Center of the world and the 8 others to my collection), and images i've found online. Yeah, i'm a bit obsessive... I may put together a zip file of a ton, or an online directory, but i'm not sure right now. One thing for certain, now that I've gotten the hang of posting images on here, there will be a lot more for the WTC project. -

Rubik if you want I have various satellite and arials of the complex and the complex details from the ground that I can post, but that's up to you if you want to finish the hotel first or not. The images above appear to show that the roof had outer walls going up 10-20 feet to cover up any other roof stuff to make the hotel appear to be clean. Towards 1wtc there is a large building on top of the roof, but can not be visible due to the outer walls. Towards 2 WTC there is a smaller version of the building that can not be seen due to the walls (I believe that is located on your BAT Model where the location of the glass structure is). Various other small details can be made out on the roof, but I can not explain them in full detail. Basically that's why everything was so hard to see, cause the exterior outer wall extends into the air to cover the roof. =) -

The siteplan that includes the hotel is not accurate. It is just a field study plan that was taken into effect for the towers construction. The hotel turned out to be slightly different in the roof and other parts. -

I'm pretty sure there was like a step like roof arching from 1wtc to the right to 2 wtc. I'll see if I can find pics, it's kinda like the entrance of the Marriot from the Austin J. Toban Plaza. -

http://johnii2.tripod.com/wtc4.htm Tons of pics of the WTC and marriot, including views from, and inside can be found at that site. Hope that helps. -
Phew, for a second i thought you were making the real thing, which was totally off. How ironic that we live in the same city.

Here Here! Couldn't be said better. Rubik - i'm sending you a PM sometime tomorrow, in regards to the images. The work you have done on both buildings is absolutely astounding. Personally, I am taken back by the amount of detail and the hours you put towards this project. This project was done out of the sincerity for the other members, and not just yourself, I commend you for that. Great work, this will sure go down in SC history. -

I agree, by the way, sorry to anyone whom may have been offended by my previous post. Not to make excuses, but i've just caught the flu and have a short patience level, etc. You know how it is. =\ I agree that the new tower doesn't even resemble NY what-so-ever, it looks almost out of place, like it belongs somewhere else, not the great island of manhattan. Rubik, how are things coming with the towers? If anyone doesn't mind, when I get the stupid gmax installed (keeps giving me errors) and the BAT that was released, i'll take a shot at building the WTC 7 building. Perhaps if it goes that well, maybe the Deutsch Bank, and the WFC. Who knows. It's a goal Um, yeah... There was another thing I wanted to add, but my mind draws a blank at the moment, so I will just leave it at that for now. -

pfft n00bie architect. In 1976 (or 1974) when the towers had opened up the observation deck the towers became an instant NY attraction virtually overnight, and when they opened windows on the world in the 1970's it became a landmark restaurant. Yet you're telling us the tower's didn't make money till 15 years after? I guess all the tenants paid no rent. Yes, i've seen the documentary too. How can you explain the plaza was dead, considering when in the 1990s it became largly populated with visitors from all walks of life? The architecht you refer to wasn't the architecht at all. You're referring to Austin Toban, whom was the head of the port authority. Minoru Yamasaki was the architecht. Taking perspective into childs and Liebskind's ideas The new tower virtually sucks, it has no great architechture in it. Heck, there's no open observation deck to actually attract visitors, what's up with that? There's no room to hold any concerts like the old wtc did. The only way it's going to attract tourism is because the old WTC stood there. I find the design but ugly and a swift kick in the nuts to all New Yorkers, If you practically visit any other architectual forums everyone agree's themselves. It's just a 2,000 foot glass tombstone with stupid windmills and lattice at the top which no function can come from. Dear God, what have we come to. -

This is my first post here, hopefully it will be a helpful one. Great design of the WTC by the way, I wish I could create something like that. I'm basically a future architecht and wtc enthusiast, so I can help you out with various aspects. If you're looking for pics to help, i have more than plenty lol. - I don't believe recalling the wires holding up the antenna in the WTC 1 tower at all, just a self supporting spire/antenna. - There was a helicopter pad on top of the WTC 1 in one of the corners - Various smaller antenna structures were also on the roof top, with miscellaneous tubes/pipes running along the roof from the antenna. - If you could design sort of a lighting scheme closest to what the towers looked like, that would be great, the antenna was also lit up in a white/flouresant (sp) light as well, with miscellaneous flashing lights for the planes to see. I greatly appreciate what you're doing to bring these landmarks back into the game. If anyone needs pics or stuff to develop the new freedom tower, I have them as well.
