Well that's easy. Because the countries with nukes right now are obviously the most intelligent, wise, kind-hearted, and trustworthy of all peoples. Silly you.

Sweet, sweet. Very nice.

Yeah, I think it's fine too. But I haven't played SC4 since the SNES version, and I haven't seen PC versions either. It would be nice to have more access to terraformed maps and terraforming tools, but meh. It's good to me.

Sunken Highway Walls that Work on Macs?
Monk's Dream replied to Monk's Dream's topic in SC4 Mac Users
Guys, thanks so much! Okay, let me get started then. "If you really want to use those lots, just set aside some time to do a file search for the .dats listed in the cleanitol file to determine whether you have them." In another thread I pointed out that even when I juice something like the BSC MegaPack, I don't get a huge list of files anywhere. All I get is a installBSC.dat file, just one. So from your guys' responses, the files are somewhere else? I can find them in spotlight? "Speaking of "jagged," you'll also need a jagged edges mod for this set (but it comes in handy even if you don't use buddybud's walls)." I was also reading through another person's recent textures mod thread for Macs. I don't know what I installed, but SC4 kept crashing on me every time I loaded a city, and if I removed my mods, it was fine. I tried, but I couldn't isolate the exact file that caused it, so I just deleted everything and started over. That sucked, and I don't want it to happen again. Sounds like texture mods can conflict with each other and cause crashes. I am using the PEG pine trees and snow cap textures. Will the jagged edges mod conflict with these? Thanks for the wall suggestions. I'll look into those links. -
Can anyone point me towards highway walls that can be used on Macs? The only ones I can find require texture dependencies that also require the use of Cleanitol, which doesn't work with Macs. much appreciated

Question About Mods That Requre You to Remove Files
Monk's Dream replied to Monk's Dream's topic in SC4 Mac Users
Cool! Thanks! -
Can you use mods like these on the Mac? For instance, the BSC Megaprops Pack later volumes require you to remove specific files, or use the Cleanitol. You can't even use Cleanitol with Mac, can you? Anyway, when I juice the .exe files from something like BSC textures or props, all I get is a .dat file. I don't even see anything like the list of files they are showing that I'd have to remove. Are those somewhere else? And can you use mods like these for the Mac version of SC4?

I've installed Oppie's canal set. When I plop a corner section, the outer sidewalk protrudes into the water area and looks pretty bad. Is there something that fixes this? Thx.

tutorial for building multiple cities at a time
Monk's Dream replied to nathvandevelde's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I know which one you mean. It's the tutorial called: "Making Money the Easy Way". -
Hey Hal, I'm talking about the 'main stack' that is found in the very first picture of your "Show Us Your Interchanges" thread. The on and off ramps are really unique looking, and they even loop underneath from the top overpass to the lower ground highway. Does that just happen when you build an elevated highway over a ground highway or did you have to do that manually somehow? And here's something I'd really like to know, when you are planning a new city, how much of your transit network do you lay out before zoning anything? That's really the most crucial point for me, and I'm hesitating on getting started until I feel confident about approaching this situation. Thx!

Hey Hal. Yeah, I got it to work. Thanks for posting to my thread! I've been surfing through your GTR and taking a LOT of notes. Your transit system is a work of beauty, and I plan on modeling the one in my upcoming region around many of the ideas that you are using. You have a great concept of city building my friend. I've been going through trying to find essential downloads for urban beautification (sidewalks, parks, etc.). I plan on using a LOT of mods. I'm going for (hopefully) a real scenic region by the end of it, which should be quite a while. One question for you, Hal. In your elevated-over-ground highway interchanges, are you using something special to make those curved on and off ramps? Those look so cool, and I'd like to incorporate them into my transit system. Are they curved pieces, or can you drag them that way? thanks again!
-
Yes! Thank you. That was the problem. In fact, I'm going ahead and doing a complete removal and re-installation of all SC4 files and mods now that I figured that out. I thought that the black and green files ALL needed to be juiced, but it's only the .exe. Thanks so much! I really appreciate the responses.

Well, I've installed the lots. I had to juice them, but I did install them. They're not showing up. That was my question I guess. I know not all juices work for Mac. Has anyone else gotten these to work for Mac? Shouldn't you get replica juice files when you extract them? I don't get any Sc4Lot files when I juice the hole digging lots. thx again

Sorry for so many questions, but how do you build a retaining wall? Is there a tool for building walls, or does it happen automatically after the highway is laid? I saw in another thread a pic of a sunken park with walls like you mentioned. Do I need to install those? I watched a YouTube tutorial on building sunken highways. I don't have the toolbar that he is using to dig the holes, and his were located under the misc. transportation button. Thoughts? Thanks again. Here's the YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtOn2SD5WHo

Sure, bwatterud. Here you go. It's under City-Building Concepts. https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=23&threadid=105017&enterthread=y I downloaded and installed the hole digging lots. But apparently I don't understand how to use them. I searched through all of the road tools, park tools, etc. Where do you find them at? Are they in God Mode or Mayor Mode? Thanks much, I really appreciate the help.
