Looking good Marrast, I always think your transport systems are superb, and that split avenue/railway is no exception. I'll look forward to more on Eladremme proper! Nice photoshopping too . Congrats on reaching Page 9 and 15000+ views! Will

Thanks for the comments, dhoppeii - you're back so soon! Expect to see some cool stuff happening around the Square in the near future... And thanks also to PhilsCafe, glad you like the European style, and the twinning! I was gonna post another update tonight, but its getting kinda late now. I got to actually play the Game today you see, and got quite a lot done, hence the rapid updates. I managed to take about 20-ish pics from in and around Harmsworth, most of which you've now seen. But I'll show you the remainder tomorrow - they're close-ups! Night -

Oooo, a hot topic icon!! Prophet42: You're too kind!! That's great that you think it looks ok with a skyscraper/19th Century mix. The old version of the FD was all 'scrapers and I didn't really worry too much about building styles, but of course it looked pretty unrealistic because of it. And people said so too, lol. But this seems to work at last. Thanks again! jasperdeman.nl: Maybe I missed my calling then, lol. I might do some more as that and the Yahoo one from an earlier page seemed to have gone down quite well. Thanks for the encouragement! The Big Z: Thanks! I'm trying to mix grids and diagonals up, but its not easy when Xannepan and Porkissimo's buildings are all at 90'! Mini update now: :: (Mini) UPDATE 7 :: St Thomas Cathedral Square This is just a selection of four pictures. Firstly, I want to highlight particularly the PHENOMENAL Quatre Saisons building by Porkissimo. I think this is probably the best BAT I have ever seen, the detailing is simply astounding. And the night-lighting...mind-blowing. I enjoyed 'browsing' in the Galeries Lafayette in Paris some years ago, and the domes remind me of that. Secondly, I know that we all probably have Bandito's Cologne Cathedral in our Plugins, but how many of you have stopped to admire the incredible details on it recently? Just look at flying buttresses, and the detailing/texturing around the entrance. It is an awesome BAT, and we must remember how early it came out - 14 months ago!! Thirdly, it has been confirmed that St Thomas Square will be the location for the Twinning ceremony between Otranto and Lentbury. Stay tuned for news. Comments welcome!!! -
Man alive, that region view could almost be some satellite pic of a realworld city. It's incredible. Now I'm off to try and find the update where you did the airport, because that looks phenomenal from up here in space. Marvellous and inspirational work! Will

Frogface: Glad you like it, thank you! Klemvast: 'Lentbury', I guess it might be, but I think the language there is Dutch. It's not my CJ, its Bienefeldt's, so pop along there and have a look - as well as an excellent city, his website-based background to the CJ is really quite exemplary and well worth browsing! Thanks guys! -

:: UPDATE 6 :: Harmsworth Harmsworth lies to the west of the Financial District, and is one of Otranto's most densely populated areas. Originally housing the labourers in Millbank's industries, it degenerated towards the end of the 18th Century. Gradual rebuilding saw the construction of a 19th Century facade, but the district still has the dense feel of centuries past. The building, in the 1960s, of several modern tower blocks only served to increase this almost stifling atmosphere, yet it's proximity to Rowcross Street Station maintains Harmsworth popularity and high property prices. St Martin-on-the-Square: Comments/suggestions/questions welcome! -
Hey bstrickland, Firstly, WELCOME TO SIMTROPOLIS!!! And I get privilege of first reply too!! I like the potential in this CJ. The region looks to be coming along nicely - it gives you quite a lot of freedom when you terraform as you go, which is nice! I particularly like the use of islands -it looks really effective. And from your introduction it sounds like you've got some big plans, and a great background to the region, so I wish you all the very best with your City Journal! I'd love to see those airports! Good luck!! Will P.S.: On previewing this post, I saw that you've added the pic to your post. Great call, but I'm afraid pics need to be kept to a 800x600 size on these forums. Just so you know.

dhoppeii, don't worry about it! It's taken a long time to get here to page 5, because I just don't have the time to play the game that much. I guess it's meant the CJ has kinda gone into the background on here, and out of people's browsers! But I'm glad you've returned! And I'm pleased too that you've enjoyed the extras. That's cool, because I often find they take longer to put together than a picture-based update! So thanks again, Will -

Wow, thank you so much pnorrell, that is praise indeed! Makes the time spent worthwhile. And to everybody, your comments/suggestions/observations are always very welcome!! They're the only thing that keeps this CJ from being just me posting stuff for me to look at! Some news: The new city sign: So, that explains the new signature! Please comment guys! -
Hey Jeronij, I'm not sure there is anything left to say that has not been said already about this CJ, but... admirable, exemplary, awesome, inspirational... And that extended 'flight' pic was such a cool idea! I second KOSC on the Trixie, you would so deserve it! Keep up the great work, Will
-
MAN, I love airports . Superb work on this one, KOSC, I really like the way you've taken pics at different stages of the build too - very effective that. One question tho, are you using Joerg's v2.1 pack? I can't quite tell from the pics. If not I can recommend it! Great job, Will
-
Hey Darmok, What a superb, inspirational and incredible CJ you've got here, no wonder I keep seeing links to it in everyone's signatures!!! Please continue to amaze us! (And just ONE post away now from the big 20-page mark....) Well done, Will
-
Great CJ, RHF! It's amazing how quickly its developed - 11 pages, 300+ posts, and 5000+ views is admirable! Keep up the great work!! Looking forward to a new update... Will
-
Lol, what a great idea to include in a CJ - the pics of the hurricane look very effective! Man, those stats sound kinda nasty tho , hope the costs and damage to the region hasn't be too bad!! Great CJ, keep up the exemplary work, Will
-
Wow, what a cool CJ! I particularly like: a.) The temple structure in the middle of the lake b.) The redwood tree walk in the Blair Witch Forest c.) The use of that dam, which is quite superb Keep up the great work! Will
-
Hey Z, its amazing and admirable how much effort you're putting into this CJ! I love the rural look, those seasonal trees, and the way CycleDogg's terrain mod has really brought a new feel to Enoch. Keep up the great work! Will

Thank you guys for your comments! Klemvast: I'm pleased that you like it, and that you think the port is similar to other European ports! That's quite funny that you're surprised that I'm surprised - it's largely because I haven't travelled that much around Europe yet to see places like Antwerp or Hamburg. And I haven't been to Tilbury or Folkestone in my country either. So Barca was the first massive port I've seen, hence my surprise! I think it was also being able to see it from such an enormous height which helped! On the history front - well, I'm trying to create a European hybrid, so it's gotta have a hybrid history too! I've never even said where the city is, sometimes its France, sometimes its Spain, and now it might be in England. Think of it like the layout of the Simpson's house - adaptable. Btw, if no-one has said it before, welcome to Simtropolis!! helomoto: Thanks very much for those 2 thumbs!! jonesla6: Lol, pleased don't be mad, at least you found it now! That's so cool that it might be your favourite, but I'm just pleased you took the time to comment. Thank you! jacqulina: Thank you very much, and I'm pleased you think the District looks 'real'. It took almost entirely plopped stuff to make it, so after quite a long time doing this part, its nice to have people say it looks good! Thanks again! P.S. Please note the new signature. I'll explain more later... -

:: UPDATE 5 :: (Update 4 was the extended, but disconnected, look at the Port, btw) I would like to show you some pictures of the Financial District. You've heard that the central district of Otranto is along the Avenue in the Old Town, but this is the real commercial centre of the city, -

Hello Everyone! My hard drive is fixed, my computer is seemingly working again, and the good news is that the Game installed fine, along with all the plugins and most importantly... Otranto. Phew! Hopefully they'll be no more scares. My thanks first to: PhilsCafe: Glad you liked the port and the region shots. Hopefully the following update will show you some of the Xannepan buildings, and there'll be more of the others another time. Thanks! Cjah: Thanks, and I'm glad it did! Glad you liked the port too! The Big Z: Thanks very much! Another port fan! I was worried I'd put you guys off with too much port, but apparently not! Update following... Kaze Progressa: Thanks, you're very encouraging! jacqulina: My thanks again to you for your continued support of this CJ! sloppet: Thanks man! Update to come... Can I also refer you guys to the latest update in Bienefeldt's Lentbury , where he reveals the role that Otranto played in harbouring Lentburian citizens from Hitler's advances between 1939-1945. You can also see a reply from me, that includes the proposed plans for a Lentburian War Memorial... More to come on the Otranto-Lentbury angle soon. Now its update time... -
As Mayor of Otranto, I have the honour of informing Lentburians of the new building plans in our city. Designed to strengthen our ties and cement our friendship, the proposed Lentburian War Memorial will commemorate and honour our neighbours who suffered much at the hands of the Axis powers from 1939-45. It was our privilege and duty to protect your people, and I also include for your amusement and interest two war-time posters from our city collection that tell your story from our perspective. Will Silver Spring 1940 Autumn 1941 (And btw, great update Bienefeldt! )

Looking good Z! That river kit looks excellent there, maybe I'll have to get that if you can get it looking that good... BTW, don't rush to get the updates in if you're short of time. It's worth spending the time getting it how you'd like, rather than trying to fulfil something you might have said earlier. After all, we all have real lives! I know that I've done that, and then been up late trying to get all the pictures loaded onto Imageshack ! Take your time, and we'll be waiting to see it whenever you get it here! Will

Date: 5/6/2005 6:53:38 PM Author: The Big Z I've been having a couple small problems, that I've noticed while building this city. One, I can't seem to get Peg's River lots to close. Basically, I'll build a river, but I get stuck everytime I try to make the river, or lake, turn. I don't know if it's just me, or what. Two, I downloaded Marrast's nifty embankment BAT, and can't seem to find it anywhere, and it is in my plugin folder...quote> Hey Z, great region and it looks like a nice start to your CJ!! I'm afraid I don't know about PEGs river lots, but I can help you with Marrast's. They are in the Port/Water Menu, right at the very bottom, and they have very clear custom icons to help you. If you've got any of PEGs water stuff installed, Marrast's will be below that. Hope that helps! Keep up the good work! Will

Good morning to everyone! It seems like its been a bit slow since the last update, but then I haven't really been here either ! A big thank you to Mikeaut1 and to jacqulina for your comments! I hope that you have all seen the emergence of some excellent new European-based BATs on the STEX? If not, please search IMMEDIATELY for: Gascooker, Xannepan, Porkissimo and Prepo. I think I've now downloaded them all, so it should spark a new building wave in Otranto. But before that... an announcement. I'm having a bit of bother with my hard drive at the moment, and it needs to be reformatted . I've backed everything SC4-related up onto my other partition, and its on CDs too, so I (and Otranto) should be able to return unscathed. I hope so anyway. But wish me luck please!! I shall return...interphrastically. Will EDIT: I was just previewing this post and saw your post pikatchoum: thank you very much!! And the Place d'Aquitaine was strongly based on the Place des Vosges... Glad you like it!! -
Sweet update Marrast! Now I know your photoshop secret, I'll have to start sharpening up my pics too ! People have used the word 'clean' and I think that fits your cities quite well, because everything seems exactly as you'd want it to be. You must also spend years in the LE getting the lots exactly right! Personally, I think that's one of the best ways to play the game because it looks unique. Hope its not too long until the next update, and BPS!! Will
