I really like the billboard! Keep it up. -
Hello Guys. I'm starting into BATing again, so I thought I'd start posting my progress on my BATs. Now, I haven't done this in awhile, so as half-decent as the building I'm about to post is, feel free to make and really obvious suggestions- I'm pretty rusty at this. So, here is what I'm working on right now. It's called the Jameson Building. Also my first venture into window textures that aren't just semi-opaque rectangular extrusions.

I forget what a tile is (1 meter) but no matter the measurement each floor is 4 tiles tall.
-
Alright, here are some adjustments and one HD frontal view.

OK! Thanks for the feedback, I was waiting for some actual tips, and not "thats dope foreal brah", as much as I like compliments on my work. So, I will reduce the window saturation, work on the dumpsters, and adjust the parapet perhaps. Also, the ramp is just a ramp for the second floor offices, not necessarily a handicap ramp. Also, I'll resize the roof junk. Cheers for now!

Hello Simtropolis. i just got into BATing and find it fun, so I should be regularly making BATs. I will start off with my first official BAT; it's called The Hamstrung Building. Here's a work in progress. It's called Dunn's Theatre. This will be either a CS$ or CS$$. I am probably going to go with CS$. I am aopen to any and all critisism. I am interested in any ideas that will make buildings more detailed. Also any fixes for something I did wrong or could do better. Just a question right off the bat (no pun intended), how would I go and add some water stains, or rust, or whatever you call it right below the outlets around the roof? Lastly, I would take any reasonable requests. if you tell me to make a BAT of the Patronas Towers, unfortunatly I will refuse, but anything on this scale you would want to see I would be happilly see what i could do. I might post a scanned image of my sketch for Dunn's theatre to give you better idea. That is all for now. Edit: More updates for Dunn's Theatre.

Something I made up.

The Civil War history museum is my ongoing project. I don't have much to say myself, but put froth any critism on the building.

Thank you again. I must have accidentally referred to it as In-AND-Out Burger, because in most instances, including on the BAT itself, it's In-N-Out Burger. None the less. I'm messing with the textures to see what I can do with a white texture. I also figured out what I needed to do with that pyramid roof- I had used a cube and then brought the top 4 corners into the center forming a pyramid- but one corner was offset a little bit, creating the weird shadow. Much better now. Checking Google Maps for roof junk never occurred to me- that's a good idea. Also, the desaturation of the red is also a good idea, I never fully liked how it appeared in my BAT. I also had been planning to go through my city and take screen shots for reference. Thanks for the tips!

Thats the type of repsonse I'm looking for, thank you very much for that one. Alot of my BATs I do for practice, the only one's I ever plan to submit to the STEX right now are the In-N-Out burger and the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. I also did later add a rooftop access to the TSF. I will look into this default glass texture; where is it found? The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory is based on an actual building. You might now it from the history books when many women working in a sweatshop on the 8th floor died in a fire; many of today's working standards are derived from this accident. There are many images on google search for you to reference. If anyone can go back a few posts, and tell me what to do with In-N-Out Burger, that would be marvelous.

Here's my Triangle Shirtwaist Factory reincarnation. It looks alright, but the window textures need work and the textures themselves are missing something. Any and all suggestions would be apreciated. Also, I will be adding more roof junk.

I agree, the roof is very bright. Here is a quick fix (I just threw it in photoshop and took down the brightness). I might think of darkening the white parts in the middle and making it less obvious that it was tiled (tiled in PS with the dark spots applied over that, but none the less a bit cheap looking). This I threw together for fun and practice in maybe 40 minutes. The Bayou Motel. I imagine it some abandoned post Katrina motel. By the way, can some one give some feedback on the In-and-Out burger? Thats the one I'm really working on right now. Here's my progress on Sobchak Security.

Alright! I apologize for not posting my bowling alley here before uploading it. It was spur of the moment, I worked non stop for about 3-4 hours, and Simtropolis was having troubles with Llamas getting into their brocolli while I was making it. I will post a pic here, though it is the spotlight BAT right now so I'm sure you've seen it. If you have a really big way to improve it (I'm only really worried about the windows, but I suck at windows) I will add to it. Here is my In-And-Out-Burger. Like I said, I suck with windows, I need some help with that. I need to add the large sign ontop of the building.

Yes, I refitted the LODs. Worked out. And I'm no good with window textures does anyone have any tips or tutorials.

Thats how it was all configured. I'll soon post some render pictures and what happened in a lot editor test. I've had this issue before. Whats with this? The render obviously didnt work. However, I now have a much better idea as to the dimensions I need. It's been a while since I've been BATing, but it's all coming back.
-
Oh, it's underscaled, no program error, I messed up. How do I change the units and to what? Back when I used to BAT the units seemed fine. I'll start over and keep all that advice in mind.

I'm looking to revive this thread. My new project is to make Sobchak Security. You may recognize it from The Big Lebowski. I may also make the surrounding buildings and make it a set. Here is a preview in Gmax. I tried to preview it but the render was really small which brings me to believe I made the dimesnions to small. Is there a way to change the units of measurement?
