How to keep Dirty & Manufacturing Industry?
Dizastrow replied to a432rar's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Once the house and apartment buildings for R$ are built, make them historical, that will make sure you have an adequate workforce for your dirty industries. -
Maybe you have a corrupt police force and they are in on the crime taking place!

R$$ Abandonment, the lesser known nemesis?
Dizastrow replied to Fuzzums's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
What I have been doing, and it seems to work is as I build neighborhoods I make R$ R$$ historical. I usually wait until there are apartment complexes for R$ and R$$ and then I make them historical. I kind of let R$$$ do whatever it wants, but I always make sure there is an equal amount of each in every neighborhood. It can get tedious at times clicking all of those buildings historical, but come on, like SIMCITY isnt time consuming as it is. -
I am constantly playing Simcity, even without being in front of a computer. I see the world we live in, and think, "I wouldnt have put that exit there, or this area needs a park, or I would develop this area. The game will always appeal to me. I just go with whats made. SC4 until the next one!!

I think I will go play Simcity on SNES.

I always say it, but take your time. Dont build or increase funding on civics until it is absolutely necessary. Patience is the key to building successful cities.

Dizastrow here, Resident Sim Im looking for a hotel suite, prefferably a high rise room with a view of Simtropolis, and a Jacuzzi. Can you help me out with accomodations? I will be here on business for the weekend, and will be needing transportation back and forth between the hotel and the Bureau for Bureaucracy. Do you offer a shuttle service? Thank you!

Need help just getting off the ground, please.

Be deliberate, patient, and meticulous all at the same time! -
I usually like to start with several small towns, play each one and let the game decide which ones will flourish and which ones will be suburbs, and so on. I like to also revamp entire towns to make a flow of residential and commercial communities that lead to downtown

Hello all! Im looking for advice on what to do to simplify and organize my downloads. Do you make seperate folders for R, C, I? Once you have moved the files into seperate folders, do you keep them in the main plugins folder? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!
-
More excellent advice! Much thanks!
-
No, no I didnt. Yet, I continually slaughtered my army men and GI Joes in epic battles everyday.

What a great tutorial!!! I know now what I must do. Thank you all for your excellent help!

That does help somewhat. But Im still confused on how you organize them with folders. For example, right now i just have all my downloads in the main plugins folder. Do I create folders within the main one for organizational purposes? Do I need to type out and designate each folder e.g. plugins/R$$$/ABCbuilding for each one? Im going to mess around with it tonight. Thanks

Patience is the key. You have to be patient to play Simcity. Start out slow and slowly work in services, parks, rail, etc. One thing I have learned is, dont build something until it is absolutely necessary or your sims scream for it. Overbuilding from the start will bankrupt you quickly.

Does anyone else play this game?? I absolutely love it!! Almost as much as SimCity!!

Along the same lines of what PIPELAD said, I usually have many residential areas that are connected to business and industry by only 1 or 2 roads so sims are forced to take the multiple rail-lines i have built into the business and industrial districts. Then I make sure that there are plenty of bus stops in the residential neighborhoods and the business districts so if Sims have to commute by other means than rail they will take the bus which is quicker and reduces car traffic and commute times.
-
Try revamping parts of the city. If there are areas with negative growth, bulldoze portions and replace them with park, trees, green space. Look at things like commute times and road structure too.
-
I usually write down the first thing that comes to mind. I think my last city was named Tempfar.

Has anyone attempted to play this game, let alone tried to get through the manual? An example of a game that tried to do too much!

What is the one toy you remember from childhood. Stories Welcome. Plastic Army Men! I used to have thousands of these little guys. All the trucks and tanks included. I would have huge battles inside and outside . My next door neighbor dug up a mass grave I had built years after I buried them. I could never figure out what to use for bombs, so i ended up using dominoes to wipe out whole legions of soldiers. I bet if I sat down, I could still get into it.

What purpose, if any, do landmarks serve? Other than Eye Candy, do they effect anything within the game?

Another cool RTS game is American Conquest: Divided Nation. The graphics leave something to be desired, but its capability of producing and handling thousands of troops is awesome. In this game you can have huge realistic Civil War battles. Check it out
