Environment + Industry + Civics = Headache
n.alum replied to n.alum's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I have another question...i am not making money..but using all the tips you guys have given..i should check out that industry mod..because i am getting lower and lower industry needs..my goal is obviously high tech but i only have about 15.000 ppl -
So here is how I layout my roads 6x6. I am very into making a nice evenly built city. My goal is to have a huge Metropolis with high wealth residential and commercial along with high tech industry. It seems that no matter how many parks I put in BAM!!! goes my environment. So I try making a separate city with only industry. I never seemed to like this idea I want one huge mega city without going through the headache of building smaller cities. I don't know how to really set taxes at all. I don't know whether they should start out at nine or what. I try to keep my education and health capacity just above the number of patients and kids I have. I am really not sure if it is wise to make several police stations and firestations so that their radii are covering every inch of the land I have developed. I watch tutorial after tutorial unhappily (for one part because of how unneat the layout is but that is my own problem) I am unhappy with the many videos I watch because they are fuzzy and grainy and I can't see the exact way the taxes should be handled. Water pollution always seems to bite me in the ass along with air pollution hence ..but my environment seems to drop anyways. There are other things I worry about like should the school bus radii always be at its maximum (I want high education so I attract big business and high tech industry) Can anyone help me with these problems!?

I will take your word for Environment not really meaning anything. My only question is why? I will try all the tips you suggested thanks!

So I would like to think I know a few things about Sim City 4. I organize my cities. I make sure crime, fire, education, traffic, health are all in line. I also micro-manage everything. However when it comes to industry I am completely lost. I have even gone as far as to build a city that is 100% industry to power the rest of my cities attached to it. But when I want my big main city to have some industry it sucks my environment down and down and down. Can anyone help me over come this problem. As well as try to get my income above my expenses (I am getting pretty good at this but some tips would be nice!) Thank you

how can i send you my city via email? i'll be online for the next 8 hours so whenever lol

Boycey....your methods have actually worked the best for me!..im eager to ask more questions..not THAT many but using your method my environment was really stable..except that i found my demand for commerce and commercial were really low not a lot of people were moving in..what im still in the infant stages of my city..if i could send you my city and have you take a look at it that'd be cool!!

no matter what i do i can't seem to keep a stable environment..it always goes green for a little bit then back down to red..i've literally down everything imaginable to try and keep it stable from parks to neighbor deals to avenues to minimize congestion.. i'm having trouble with taxation..who i should tax more ect..any further advice would be great

It's me again with yet another question. My recent topic on the environment and how to keep it stable really helped me. So thank you to all those who helped me with that. I am trying to get better with how to make money rather than loosing via taxation. I keep my eye on elementary and hospital capacity just so that the number of students/patient capacity is just above the number of students/patients. My problem is how can i keep a stable EVERYTHING without necessarily expanding a great deal. And before you ask yes all my affairs are in order from traffic to parks to police and fire dept coverage. Thanks for the help!

Thank you guys for all the help! Yes I needed more parks! And I needed more police and fire stations and hospitals to make sure all my area was covered. The problems with parks for me is the fact that I don't know when I have enough on my plate to actually start making money all taxes..I am still in a bind with losing money rather than actually making back and making more money than I have spent. I really don't know who to tax more and who not to tax as much any help with this would be awesome. Thanks again

i have a lot of parks but i am gaining some answers through trial and error..i think its my traffic ..do you have any ideas on how to keep traffic low?
-
my traffic levels are great..lol and that is the weird thing...i make sure my traffic levels are in check and low. I'm going to get on and try to build more police stations and fire stations to keep the safety high..but i doubt that works any further help would be awesome!

I'm pretty good with SimCity 4. I only have one problem. KEEPING THE ENVIRONMENT STABLE I try to build up a lot of buildings without necessarily expanding a great deal. I make sure everything is in order from police/fire cover to taxes and I even make sure my demands are being met. I start neighbor deals and everything! I have found one time that the more low income housing I make my environment tends to start dropping again. My problem being no matter what I do my environment meter just keeps going down if and when it comes back up. Can anyone please help me!!
