Very nice downtown area.

One of the things about my city journal is the premise that a major country such as the United States or Australia would cede a piece of land for the creation of a new country. It's definitely far-fetched, but I'm sure other CJ's make the same premise. Or is it that far-fetched? Check this out: Maldives to Buy New Homeland as Sea Levels Rise Interesting. And of course, this isn't the only island nation facing this issue.

Good start! Here's a suggestion: don't pause the simulation, hit the minimize icon on the lower left, and and then press ctrl+shift+s to take a picture without the menu in it. I had the same thing going until one of my CJ readers suggested this, and I like not having to deal with the menu in my pics.

East Atkinos - I have to say that this city is one of my all-time SimCity favourites. I love the architecture and layout. Simply beautiful, and how I think cities should be designed. Where oh where did you get that church??? I just looked at East Atkinos again - I hate to gush, but it is gorgeous. I see some of my favourite BATs and some that I didn't know existed. Where did you get the curved corner commercial building and the building that looks like a government building with a flag? [Psst... use the edit funtion...]

Excellent CJ! I'm amazed at the industrial harbour and oil fields - in most CJs (most certainly my own), industry is put on the back burner, but you have put it front and centre.

Good job. This is an interesting city. The size of the island and the scale of the city make one bridge appropriate, especially if there is ferry service, though you could get away with two. After all, they connected Denmark and Sweden with one bridge...

In addition to the fact that your CJ makes me want to be watching the sun rise over the forest on a chilly morning, I just love the phrase "Rohan: the Full Monty". This is fun on several levels!

Wow - this is the second excellent recreation of a North American city that I've seen on the board tonight. This really could be Tulsa, OKC or Wichita. You've really nailed the downtown of a plains state city. Great work!

Jan Nalsa tried farming a variety of crops until he decided that the best approach would be to make most of his living through cattle ranching. Jan’s only son to survive the pirate attack, Peter, continued the operation through World War I. Then, Peter’s sons Abel and Jacob work the ranch. When Abel died while fighting in World War II, Jacob left in a small plane for Melbourne to bring back Abel’s body to bury on the island, but never arrived in Melbourne. No one knows what happened to him. The two surviving wives moved to Melbourne with their families after World War II. The descendents of Jan Nalsa who held title in the islands had little interest in living there. They tried to convince the Australian government to buy the islands for a national park, but the Australian government concluded that the location was too remote to justify use as a park. When the lease on a small airstrip for the Royal Australian Airforce expired in 1970, the government didn’t renew the lease. The Nalsa family had nearly given up on the idea of being to sell the island when a group of businessmen suddenly bought the entire island group in 1974. The family knew it was to be used for a large development project – they pictured it being some sort of resort – but weren’t surprised when those plans were abandoned several years later. They heard that the resort was built in America instead.
