  1. You might sometimes have to use the shift key as well as the alt key to get the zones to go in the direction that you want to go(shift will prevent roads from forming). Remember that zones will usually point in the direction of the highest capacity roadway so alt may not work all the time. It may be necessary to destroy the roadway to place the zone in the direction you want it to go.
  2. said by sir scott: ...but looking at things from a historical point of view I suppose it's important to remember that democracy as we know it is a reletively new concept no more than about 300-350 years old. Certainly the full democracy most states enjoy today did not appear until the late 19th [and] early 20th century. Before this point most states (including the UK) could be considered a dictatorship, where the monarch's word was literally law.quote> That is totally incorrect. Democracy has been aroud for several milenia. The Ancient Greeks were perhaps the closest to a true democracy than any other government in recorded history. During its early days all people had a say in government. The Roman Empire started as a democratic republic at first then later had Ceasars but was still a republic during the rule of most of the Ceasars. Great Britain was a republican democracy from the signing of the Magna Carta in 1205. That document established the Parliament and limited the role of the Monarch. The American colonies in New England from the late 17th to early 18th century were similar to the Ancient Greek democracies in that just about every decision was voted on by every landowner in the town. And France became a republican form of government in the late 18th and early 19th century. Today almost all democracies are really republics in that representatives are elected by the people and the repesentative votes for his/her constituents. These are less democratic than the earlier forms of democracy for many reasons that I will not elaborate on at this time. However democracies have been around for much longer than you seem to believe.

    Its the same as Ridgewood.
  4. Here in Laurel, MD (near Washington,DC) petrol is about US$3.00/gallon (US$2.95-US$3.04). Closer to the city it gets up to US$3.20/gallon. In Virginia it is less than US$3.00/gallon. These prices are for regular unleaded.
  5. Lack of highway use disturbing...

The best way to get Sims to use Highways is to make that the only way to get from place to place. When connecting Residetial areas to commercial or industrial ares avoid using roads or streets. Start with rail then when your city is big enough use avenues. Don't put any zones directly on the avenue (the zone arrows should point to the street or road perpendicular to the avenue). When traffic conditions warrant you can then change the Avenue into a highway. Then Sims will have no choice but to use your highway.
  6. installers vs just the files

The biggest problem I have with the installers is that some of them cannot seem to install to the My Documents folder. The My Documents folder assigned to my username and everyone's user on my network name is on a network drive dictated by Group Policy. The installer does not seem to be able to understand the syntax of network drives. I get an eror saying cannot create \\server\username\my documents\...\install folder\file.xxx. I do however prefer the installer if this problem could be fixed.
