I just tried loading the region into the Terraformer and I get an error that says: A problem has occured while reading the region. Maybe it is too large for your RAM I have 4GB of RAM so I don't think it's that. Nevertheless I think I will make a new region. Thanks for the help anyways.

I think I used the SC4Terraformer.

I see. What I am try to do though is to change the cities, but while keeping the terrain in-tact (I do not mind losing my cities). Is there any way to do that either in-game or with an external program?

I made a SC4 region a few years ago, and while I still like it, I do not like the way the cfg.bmp is set up as there is only 1 large city, while the rest are either medium or small. Is there a way to change the region so I can have more large cities?

SC4 Legit Download (stupid question?)

Sim City 4 is currently on sale at Gamers Gate and the EA Origin store. I haven't used Origin yet, but I can say that GG is pretty good. -
It's ingenious. First of all, they released it on DS, which is PORTABLE, so it's civ on the go (and the full game, not a dumbed down game completely different from the console version, and secondly, it opens up the civ franchise to a whole lot of players who try the game on the console, get interested, and then go buy civ 4 for greater depth. Whether this was a planned effect or not I have no idea, but it is a good thing, because it is creating new fans who would never otherwise hear of the game. Heck, i bought civ3 two years ago because it looked like a cool rts (or so I thought), and it was $10. Now I love the series.

Bout time the simcity fans strike back!!

I have a feeling Cities XL will be a the true (and spiritual) successor to the simcity series. EA and Maxis now have The Sims series and now Spore to keep their coffers full. Oh well. Cities XL will continue where SC4 left off. -
I also read somewhere the other day that spore has lost (according to analysts) 1/4 to 1/3 of its predicted sales because of the whole DRM issue Richardquote> I could imagine that. The problem with DRM and piracy is that it doesn't stop the people who pirate, because they are smart enough to bypass the system, resulting in the copy protection only harassing the legit customers. From what I hear, this game sounds awesome, but I hope it will be deep like Simcity. That's what adds replayability.

Oh, ok. Thank you. I didn't know that.

I have a big population city(in people), and I was wondering if I should move the airport from there to a commercial city, or to an industial city.
-
I actually made a city with 430 000 pop on a medium tile. I used the roadtop transit to place roads, but I had a design and I followed it.

Ewww. The system in the US sounds horrid. The thing about private companies running insurance is that they don't care what happens to you; they want your money, and to profit. Whatever makes them more money (limiting your coverage) is best. What about a man who was born into the poor, who never had the opportunity to get a good education, because his parents couldn't afford it? What about people who inherit genetic defects like Cancer or Diabetes? Why do they deserve it? Imagine if the school system was completely privatized, so you had to pay thousands of dollars a year for education? There goes the next generation's chance of advancement? What about those who pay high prices for insurance, and when they do get sick, they have to pay anyway because the company won't cover them? To the person who thinks of only himself/herself, stop paying taxes. Then tell the IRS what you think.

It's interesting how everyone thinks. While I have never played any other Simcity games, I'd guess that I'd like Simcity 4 over the others, because of the complexity. I welcome it, and I think that it adds more replayability to the game. I guess if I were younger, i may have played Simciry 3000, but alas, I never did.

I get that too, but for commute times. The Aberage is only 50 min though.
