Hey, my 300th post. Anyway, this is the Western Desert Insurance Company. This building, though smaller at the time, held the offices of the Sandy Flats Railroad. It was subsequently bought up be the Union Pacific Railroad who used the building as their district office for a number of years. It sat idle for almost twelve years before being purchased by the Western Desert two years ago. After extensive renovations and additions, it now employs 400 people. It was designed to hold as many as 900 employees, so Western should not have to go looking for space for some time to come.

jasperdeman.nl Well the city/region has approx 275K which doesn't warrant too much in the way of highrise. If you look closely I probably have more than a typical city of this size would really have. Once I reach six or seven hundred thousand I expect to see more large buildings. By then the city should have spread out to tripple it's current area. Thanks for the response.

ACEfanatic I appreciate the advice and suggestions. Actually I was inspired by whiteshark's Crystal Junction. But it does resemble any number of SW US cities. The airport is fairly new, and the metro area is currently around 275K so there has not been time for many businesses to locate around it. As time goes by, there will be more of that happening. For instance, there will be a service area opening which will include all the major car rental companies. Also planned is a commercial area for hotels, etc. As for runways, I did construct one there for the aircraft service companies. It's on the left. I may just replace the main runways as you suggest though. I guess the bridges were built to give some variety to the landscape. They do have the London Bridge in Arizona I believe. Anyway, thanks again for the input.

sargeantcm Is it posible to download that region somewhere? I grew up just down the river from that area, and I wouldn't mind building my own region on it. Thanks

The West Valley Freeway has opened the West Canyon District to development, giving the area direct access to downtown Sterling City. New commercial and industrial parks have drawn large home builders to the area. Already several hundred homes have been built, with over 5000 more on the drawing boards. The photo below shows the northern section of the district as well and the Southgate district.

As the cities get larger, they tend to make the budget quite high, but they also seem to add a park effect which enhances revenue also.

Just a few pics to update you on the continued development down in the Southgate district. Phase III is well under way and soon development will shift across the gorge. This overview shows the steady advance of the city along the area between the gorge and mountains.

tHe Dark_Child Yes, several: desert, transportation map mod, hole digging mod, extra terrain tools, go away wren, abandonment, tunnel slope. There's a few others but they are buried in my plug-in folder. I've only just started using sub-folders in my plug-in directory. Thanks for the interest everyone. I have to fix a few structural issues with Sterling City. Also, I'm trying to figure a way to construct a resevour with a dam. Thought of using the peg pond kit. Any idea's?
