Greetings, I'm having an issue with a downloaded Hong Kong map. The file had 2 jpegs ; one is too large and I get a message that says something to the affect..'resolution is to big...file must be 1025x1025. The second jpeg is 1024x1024 yet when I try to render it nothing happens...no hourglass,confirmation box...the file select box grays out but does not close. I've followed the instructions in the omnibus...is this just a bad file? It's one of the most popular region maps. On a related note...when using downloaded content ....do the new files go into the subfolder of 'My Documents' or the subfolder of 'program files-Maxis'? Thanks for your consideration

Thanks...it has the config.bmp file but won't load the HongKong2. I'm kinda po'd at the fact that its this difficult to load a map so i just deleted the cities in San Fran and started anew I may try my hand at terraforming but that looks tedious as well. D

Perhaps the 'street' in front of the one station has something to do with it? It's kinda weird intersection there.

When zoning a 3x3 lot on a corner or intersection the AI wants to put it in one direction...when I try to change it with the ctrl key it zones against the road. I think it has to do more with desirablility than access but I'm not sure. Also; when zoning industrial is it better practice to designate the direction and size of the zone? Grats

Greetings! This site is quite a wealth of information and creativity as I could hope for. I hope that Maxis looks to you guys for inspiration Some things I would like to know but have so far eluded me.. 1. Do regional connections go through (have influence) on non-adjacent cities? Do the Sims only look at its immediate neighbor cities? 2. Do RR tracks alone boost industry demand? Do tracks have to be inter-connected or can i use dead ends for an efficient network? 3. Lot sizes...I'm a bit fuzzy on this....What is the biggest RCI lot size? I think the largest I have seen is a 6x6 Industrial and I havent found any write ups on this. Also; when starting or zoning is it preferable to zone small lots or just plunck down big lots to save time and hassle? Thanks for your consideration; I'm sure I'll find more questions

Thanks for the info! I was particularly interested in the RR/Ind angle or the game. I'm a bit disappointed in the way Industrial zones work as it seems (to newbie me) that the only factors it looks at is the basic stuff (power,trans,water) and w/e demand there is...no way to really jazz up the area.
