  1. Updated: Cities XL may be something for me.

Sim City 4: Cities XL: http://www.2404.org/downloads/CITIES%20XL/12084617766.jpg Reality: I mean, come on. Streets are not that big. The nature is awsome, but I feel it's very cartoonish, which I don't want in a sim city game. To illustrate what I mean I will show another picture of small houses. quote> The 'urban city' shot of Cities XL you chose is not quite as high up as the screen cap of SC4. So, with that being said, I doubt the two shots are of equal comparison. It makes me wonder if a closer zoom in of SC4 would look more cartoonish as well. I understand gripes about cartoonish graphics (I played World of Warcraft for quite some time), but I'm not convinced you're being 100% fair in your comparisons. Even if you are completely unbiased, the graphics in CXL looks pretty darn good to me. Just from what I've seen in the screen caps, I'd be more than happy to slap this baby on my hard drive and give her a run. But my big question is (to which I'm still a bit confused about), can you design buildings for CXL and offer them to the online community, as people have been doing for SC4? If not, the difference is whether or not I'll play the game for a couple of months and get bored with it, or play the game for a couple of years. Sorry for the topic diversion, I may have to keep searching FaQs for the answer, or post my own topic. In any case, I'm not sure how to douse your flames of doubt. Maybe if you took a few more looks at the live-action video of the game? Still pics aren't always the best way of judging a game's graphics. Maybe you should wait until the game comes out before you lose hope? But by then, you'd have already paid to play it.
  2. Former Senator Jesse Helms Passes Away

Everyone who dies is a saint. Only the most monstrous of 'humans' who kick-the-bucket have a significant number of people speak ill of them postmortem. I am a native North Carolinian, so I feel I almost have to defend my state against the reputation this man brings. As far as why people continued to vote for him, well, when I question those that did, their usual response is, "It's for the 'other' things he stood for, like farmer's rights and aid." I remember hearing a lot interesting rumors about him, I'm not sure if they're true. One that stands out is that when he was young, he witnessed an actual lynching of a black man who was beaten (and possibly murdered), and later confessed that he approved of the action. Keep in mind, Jesse represents a very OLD version of the South. We've progressed quite a way since then, we're happy with where we're going, but also trying our best to remain proud of the redeeming qualities our cultured past has to offer: It's a love/hate guilt/pride inner conflict many of us struggle with. Trying to love what's good about where you live, but being told you're ignorant, racist, and backwards by the rest of the country for so long tends to take its toll. I'm probably best classified as a 'southern democrat.' I never voted for him, felt that he was a relic of a hate filled past, and am glad that he's dead. I hope heaven is just as wonderful as he always hoped it would be; filled with white men who do the thinkin' and the decidin', and white women who stay in the kitchen and tend dem dare young'ins.
