FINALLY, I have a real update for you guys! xD This past week, the Empire had the pleasure of hosting two COFR Events. EVENT #1 Mass Relay Gateway meeting between officials from the Diesmaran Empire and the Shalman Empire. The High Lord and the other members of the delegation arrived early in the morning at the Ylmeria Cosmodrom and Spaceport. Immediately they departed for the Summer Palace, which hosts all foreigh diplomats when on an official visit. The negotiations were held at the Ministry of Economics building, in downtown Ylmeria, just across the street from the Simlympic Stadium which will be used for Hockey (shall the Shalman Empire win the bid for the 2008 December Simlympics) The High Lord also visited the commercial district of Ylmeria, where the construction of the Confederal Trade Union Headquarters is under way. The High Lord also visited famous landmarks of Ylmeria, such as the Ylmeria Tower, which is show in this picture. Event #2 First ever Youth Assembly of Nations. The Youth Assembly of Nations is an event modeled after the European Youth Parliament, but also after the Model UN conferences. THe COFR is the first Union to implement such a thing, in our tries to improve education within the Union. In the Y.A.N, sixty-four lucky students between the ages of 16 and 19 get together in the real Confederal Headquarters (which now are located in Ylmeria, until the end of our term in office) and represent the 28 member nations of the COFR. The students then write Acts, as the Assembly of Nations would normally do, and present them to the real Assembly of Nations, which then debates them. The Provisional Agenda of the first conference: The Headquarters of the COFR in the Shalman Empire, now used as the Headquarters of the Confederacy until our term in office expires (the COFR does not have General HQ). The students also had the opportunity to visit the Imperial Exhibition, which now hosts a huge variaty of works by famous Shalman paintors. They also got a chance to visit the real Embassies of the countries they were representing! The Diesmaran delegation (10 people and two advisors) had a chance to meet with the High Lord too, as he was in Ylmeria too, for the Mass Relay Gateway meeting! The Y.A.N. can be very tiring and demanding... A stroll by the river is always refreshing! nihonkaranws - here you go - the update! xD roboo1 - thanks!! rusty_777 - o_0 geez, thanks!! xD I'm glad you like my CJ! jacqulina - Thank you Gn_leugim - Tnx a lot! Rusty: wow, thanks dude!! Appriciate it! The graphics for the bid logo are my own creation, though i used parts from the Tokyo 2016 olympic logo to make it It is supposed to represent the Shalman Empire's flag waving, with the olympic colors (no black though, it looked ugly on the logo!). I actually got the idea during Ancient Greek class (totally the boring-est class in the entire world!) roboo1: well i actually like how it turned out, so i dont think i'll change it right now. I don't have enough time, and i have to finish all my other venues for the bid! (i have only finished the rowing stadium, the main complex and the archery stadium)

there you go, the link was broken And some pictures from our bid, you can find the whole bid on the Simsports forums!

The Capital of the World!
balkair replied to spacenuteskimo's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
nah, not brussels... I'd say London or Paris, if i were to choose from European cities... -
yes, sorry that some of us were not born in the USA, the UK and Australia Try and speak Greek, and then i will critisize you. How would you feel? And grammar mistakes are made because people use their native tongue as a "basis" upon which they construct the English sentense, and as a result sometimes it may not make sense.
-
no, English is NOTHING compared to Greek. You don't have cases, noun endings, verb endings, 5 (!!) different types of "e", 2 different types of "o" and so on And yeah, english is ok to learn, the pronunciation is hard... But its not THAT hard...
-
yep, the biggest greek dictionary has about 610.000 words. The english language has about 250.000 or something... But greek is very hard to learn, unlike English. No wonder english is a universal language now

The Capital of the World!
balkair replied to spacenuteskimo's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
Originally posted by: enrico.astro I think that should be the Cairo because there we have found the first amazing buildings of civilization. Or maybe should be Rome, even if I thiks that the city can't guess a world parlament... But from Rome we get many things, from Law to Sport and show business! Originally posted by: spacenuteskimo Well, let's say for some odd reason, you had to pick the capital of the world... What city would you choose? Here is a list of cities that you can choose from (the add poll button isn't working for me today!)... New York City Paris Hong Kong Los Angeles Madrid Beijing Toronto Rome Singapore Mexico City Moscow Sydney São Paulo Frankfurt Melbourne Rio de Janeiro Berlin Auckland Buenos Aires St. Petersburg Tokyo Johanessburg Calcutta The Hague Cape Town Chennai (Madras) Brussels Lagos Bangalore Dubai Cairo Bangkok London Shanghai Sure, I know a few cities here may not be as important as others, but I just picked a whole bunch to make choosing better. It there's another city that someone requests, I'll see if I can add it. Matthew quote> quote> And Athens too, birthplace of Democracy, Theater, the Olympics and the western civilization...
