  1. Question about time between cities

can it effect a cities growth? If city 'A' has manufacturing and creates 100 jobs, in 1910, but neighboring city 'B' has 10,000 people in 1930 with no manufacturing jobs, would the lack of jobs in city 'A' effect city 'B'? My concern is commuting workers, will they have enough jobs if neighboring cities don't have jobs for them?
  2. Recently got the game and having a great time creating different cities in a region. A couple of questions: How does time effect each city? For example, city 'A' is designated as a manufacturing center to create jobs for city 'B', a bedroom community. If city 'A' runs for 5 years and creates some light manufacturing and a power plant, but city 'B' runs for 30 years, how does the game interpret these time differences? Will city 'A' (1905) still have the same amount of jobs available to city 'B' in 1930? Just curious how EA reconciles these time differences, and what is the best way to deal with them. Right now I play each city for about 5-7 years and switch to the others to keep them within a few years. What is the best way to deal with the time differences, or does it even matter? Thanks all!
  3. Brand new to the game

Checking out some of the city journals, and have to say, I am very impressed! The work and amount of detail are incredible. Can't wait to get the game and give it a try.
  4. Hello all. I just ordered SimCity 4 Deluxe today and expect to get it early next week and have a few pre-install questions (I played SimCity 3 for a bit in the past so I have a basic understanding of the game mechanics). So, what do you recommend is the best way to start playing the game? - Should I use default settings and build a small town first? - Use easy settings and unlimited $'s to get a feel for the game? - Go all out and try to build a huge city the first go 'round? I want to avoid ***** frustrations and overcome the learning curve as soon as possible. Thanks and I'm looking forward to joining in the discussion on the forum!
