  1. SimCity 4 Graphics Problem (Windows 7)

Try using 191.07 drivers instead. They were the only drivers in the 19x range that worked well for me and SC4.
  2. The end of planet offer

I did not expect it to be this radical, but great news that they are gonna focus on single player mode (since I was not planning on paying to play this type of game online, ever). Maybe they will release server software so that people can start their own planet servers?!
  3. I also had graphical issues, several actually. Also had problem with the cars and moving parts (partially) disappearing on me. I did notice a change between nvidia driver version as well. Started out and tested all without any mods and clean install and then I tried several of NVIDIA's latest drivers. I constantly set the graphics in the nvidia panel to 'highest quality' (which for me solved the disappearing cars/windmills stuff). Between driver version 191.07 and 195.xx I noticed another change in graphics. With the later drivers, I got all kinds of graphical corruption but with 191.07 it all went away and I can play SC4 with all options set to high (except shadows because HIGH = VERY SLOW SCROLLING). SO in short, what works for me (on windows 7 x64) is installing driver 191.07, set overall quality to HIGHEST in the nvidia control panel and start up the game with following shortcut: C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C START "Simcity 4" /high /affinity 1 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -CustomResolution:enabled -r1680x1050x32 -f Give me great stability, good graphics, no crashes (so far). I have a GTX285 (asus),4GB RAM corsair (reaper) and an intel QX9650 . Hope it helps others TomSe.
  4. Hesitating on buying this game.

I bought the game expecting that the 'basic' stuff such as mass transit would later be included in the solo player game since I think it is one of the basic things for any city builder game, but until now they haven't released much info on doing that. I regret the fact that I have bought it and I'm still waiting for some good news from MC. For now I leave the game aside since the lack of mass transit kind of ruins the game for me. Am even willing to pay more for an expansion to get it in because the economic system and the graphics are great, adding the bus system and other mass transit options would make it a 'finished' game. Renting game features such as the bus system is too expensive for what it actually is. My advice, play the demo for a week to get to know the features (focus on single player to get a feel on what you would actually be buying) and then wait until MC gives more information or includes some needed features such as mass transit in the solo player game. Definitely if you want to avoid paying for the PO which is currently highly overpriced. Don't get me wrong, the game has lots of nice features and good realism, but it's just not complete for solo players at this point. It's like playing a beta or RC and it NEEDS to change to be a fully featured simcity game.
  5. Busses on solo mode?

They should have focused on single player gaming. MMO for this type of game is extremely limited to deals and trades (at this moment). Something I'm not willing to pay that much for (7 EUR). I'm hoping on an expansion pack with the mass transit and additional stuff. Until that is available, Im really not interested in playing this game at all. SC4 currently still is the better choice for me, even if everything about it is 'outdated'.
  6. MC Withdraw 3 month subscription

Moving to this model solves a couple of they're problems and would possibly increase revenue. 1. Increased players on PO as it's now free, hopefully giving them and the game longer term survival. I am guessing here, but this seems like a logical solution, they've tried the monthly sub model, so the other option is free 2 play. Many solo players have expressed there wish to pay to download/unlock the extra content. So more happy players, and the equivalent of monthly payment from PO and solo players. So they have restricted PO sub offer to 1 month while they change over. hope I'm right.quote> I too hope you are right!
  7. MC Withdraw 3 month subscription

Absurd move. I don't even see the big deal with multiplayer in this kind of game and am happy to pay for proper expansions to transportation and mass transit content on the single player part. But not with a monthly fee this high. I'm currently very disappointed in having bought the game just by these actions (the game in itself looks great). In the beginning MC involved everyone during the making of the game using polls etc so it was really all about involving the community. Now they thank the community by removing the better deals on subscription and letting us remain in the dark on upcoming changes... Feeling ripped off...
