I have to say I was quite surprised and relieved when I took a look at the official Cities XL site and found that they had canned the controversial Planet Offer and are now working on revamping the single player version of the game (you know the one we all really wanted). It's not too often that the fans can have enough power to dictate a major change in a game after release but it seems that we have done it. I really look forward to the release of the new version of Cities XL in a few months and provided it is a competent city simulator without too many bugs I will be picking it up. I have waited SOOOO long for a full 3d city simulator but I kept coming back to SC4 since it was the only decent one out there. Finally MC learned their lesson, unfortuantely the hard way but we're finally getting what we want.

Doh! I only check in rarely now (got other things to do). So is it unlikely that MC can even release this new version before they go belly-up?

All the more reason they should never have bothered with turning this game into an MMO, if you can even call it that. A city builder has not place being an online game.

Seriously!? There is NO PAUSE button? I thought you must have been joking. That's absurd. Every Sim City and even City Life had a pause button. It's not as realistic as real life but this is a GAME after all and sometimes things have to be done for the enjoyment of the game. This game seems to get more rediculous the more I hear. I suppose that will be in a future PO update?

The game should not be running that slow on your setup, it far exceeds the recommended requirements. Ensure you are running the lastest video card drivers. I can't really think of any in game settings that could degrade performance that bad either but you might want to use a reset to defaults option if the game has such a thing. I'm betting it is driver related though.

The real problem here is that EA for some reason does not want to publish a true sequel to SC4. They have all the elements in that game to build upon and bring Sim City to the modern 3D realm. Even if they don't change the core gameplay and just modernize it to 3D, people would LOVE it. So it's not like they have to start from scratch. But other developers like MC pretty much have to start from scratch and they are not a big enough company to have the resources necessary to get this game to the level it needs to be at on launch.

BTW..did you install all of the "essential" plugins from simtropolis like industry quadrupler, transporation fix etc? You need these because it fixes major flaws the original game has. PS: I'm also using the super demand ordinance. I know some of you will consider this cheating, but I sure am sick of playing a game that didn't work right out of the box.

So you have answered all the obligatory questions in the affirmative. My city also has all the same services as yours and it's booming with skyscrapers everywhere. I think we need to declare shenanigans on your city...it must be just a bug. SC4 is full of weird bugs, maybe cause Maxis couldn't forsee them or got lazy. I'm not sure but I would do eithe rdo something drastic like blow up half your city or start over.
