  1. Like TV-VCR mentioned already, when I try to search in the forums and select only a certain forum to look in, it still returns results from the whole forum. Also, is there a way to sort STEX searches by say, rating/download count/date, etc., rather than going through the list the way the search engine returns them? Ever since ST changed the search features in the STEX, I've been frustrated with trying to find what I'm looking for.

Well, I was more active in this thread last season, but life sort of took my attention away from here this season. But count me in as another Chargers fan. I said we were going all the way earlier, though I didn't expect this to be the road we were going to take. I actually threw in the towel just before the Chargers started their winning streak. I gotta say, these are looking more like the Chargers we used to know. Although if Denver hadn't lost to the Bills, we wouldn't be in this situation. But it shows how much character the Chargers have, because they still tried to win games even though it seemed like it was impossible to get into the playoffs. Anyway, I'm thinking that if we can just beat Indy, we might just be able to go all the way to Tampa. Go SD, charge!

@patriots_1228: Well, it looks like you're gonna have to boycott the NFL, pats. It feels GOOD to be in the playoffs. SD all the way.
  5. First of all, I've tried searching for the answer to this question, but Simtropolis keeps returning a message that I'm using ignored words such as and, to, etc. which I'm not using. In fact, ever since I've been on Simtropolis, I've never been able to use the forum search feature, 'cause it's never worked in one form or the other. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. That aside, I believe I've heard that you can increase an existing region's size, i.e. add more cities to it, by modifying the config bitmap file in the region folder. I attempted to do this, but every time it just ends up wiping out half the region's cities, and leaving some cities on the periphery. Am I doing something wrong, or did I hear wrong and this isn't possible?
  6. Increasing Existing Region Size

Oh, so that's what I was doing wrong. Indeed I tried adding cities to the north, I didn't know that wasn't doable. Thanks guys.

Sad the Chargers lost by such a small margin today. Those losses are always the worst. But it's only the first week, we'll get through.
  8. ST's NFL News Discussion

Pats better hope that some curse doesn't start following them around after this year's loss to the Giants though. That is, only if you're superstitious.
  9. ST's NFL News Discussion

They did a quick interview with Belichik after the game, and man, is he a man of few words... You could just see the mix of emotions coming out of him.
  10. ST's NFL News Discussion

Doubt it, 'cause the Chargers are makin' it next year!
  11. ST's NFL News Discussion

OMG!!!!!! Giants actually won!? We're vindicated! Unbelievable, simply unbelievable.... But what was going on at the end? Utter confusion... BTW, it'll be 18-1 GreekMan. And congrats to the Giants.

Besides, Belicheck actually, get ready for it, HUGGED norv turner. amazing, eh? that has to make up for the booing. quote> Yeah, I saw them hugging, and that's why I'm saying the team exhibited much more sportsmanship than some of those people in the stands. I have no clue who those people in the stands were, whether they were bandwagon fans or not, all I know is somebody was booing. But again, I appreciate what Belicheck did and what Kraft said. Concerning the Super Bowl, it's the Patriots all the way. If we couldn't beat 'em, if Indianapolis couldn't beat 'em, then there's just no way that the Giants are gonna do it. And one more comment about Oakland. Everytime they come to SD to play, we have to beef up the police presence at the stadium to keep them at bay. And I also remember when they came to SD back in 2002 when we hosted the Super Bowl. I remember walking around the Gaslamp, and all those Raiders fans being there. They were indeed dressed up like a horror version of Pirates. Scary stuff.

He sat their all bundled up in a jacket with his helmet on well the rest of his team freezed their asses off. Even my least favorite charger, rivers, toughed out his injury (even if he did fake a late hit when what happened is he walked in to seymour then threw himself to the ground)quote> And clearly the Pats don't know their reputation for having the most arrogant fans in the league. Geez, they did a local interview here in SD and a Pats fan just went on and on and on about how superior the Pats were. Look, I understand that some of our own players don't necessarily meet the standard of class one would hope for (I'm looking at you Olshansky), and I can also understand why a lot of TRUE Patriot fans are aggrevated by the wave of hate coming from the rest of the league, because they're undefeated. BUT, that doesn't excuse continued rude behavior on their part. They knew the Pats had it in the bag, we probably knew they had it in the bag, so they go onto boo someone for trying to put up a good fight? You can boo during the game if you like, you can trash talk during the game if you like, but once the game's over, you're supposed to reach out your hand and shake the opponent's hand, and say, "Good game." And indeed, what the Colts fans did the week before was also uncalled for. Booing at a girl just because she had a Pats jersey? And especially when she was receiving an award? Have these people no mercy? Concerning LT, what else was he supposed to do? Go back into the locker room? If he couldn't play, he couldn't play. Out of all the people on the team, he's probably the one with the most passion about getting the Chargers to the Super Bowl, and I'm sure that he wanted to contribute to the game more than anyone. Something changed once the game started that caused him to leave so early and never come back. You weren't the one with the injury on the sidelines, so how could you possibly know what he was feeling? Are you saying that he was being a sissy and didn't play because his knee hurt a bit? That's just rediculous. I'll tell you why the Chargers have become obnoxious sometimes. Everybody's been pretty much writing us off throughout the years, and they simply couldn't stand the fact that little old SD was taking out all the big, bad, powerhouse teams in the NFL. I guess the same way Pats fans are reacting to the hate for being so good is the way we're reacting to people continuing to write us off. Anyway, if you want to see some crazy fans, just go to Oakland.
  14. ST's NFL News Discussion

I also want to point out the fact that when Robert Kraft was complementing the Chargers on a good game and thanking them for a good game, the Pats fans starting booing. Honestly guys, was that really necessary? You guys have had a perfect season, enjoy that fact and that you're going to the Super Bowl. This time the fans displayed an egregious amount of arrogance. Man, the team actually acted better than their fans! Just another display of smugness on behalf of the Patriots (fans). Just put a sock in it!
  15. ST's NFL News Discussion

Yeah, Pats won, but like I just said, you still gotta win the Super Bowl to seal the deal. And with today's performance, I don't know...
  16. ST's NFL News Discussion

Not lookin' bad so far, only down by about a td at halftime. The main thing now is to ensure a td every time we get in the red zone. EDIT: 5:50 to go, and it ain't lookin' good. I don't see how SD is gonna pull this off. Another EDIT: Now it's impossible. There's just not enough time. Final EDIT: Well, it's official, NE wins. It was to be expected. But you WILL see us next year! Congrats New England. BUT, you still have to win the Super Bowl though.

If you've never heard it, then how can you criticize it? It would be like me telling people not to eat sushi, because I think it's horrible, even though I've never eaten sushi before. The Super Charger song is something they came up with in the 70's, so it has that disco-era vibe to it. I'll admit the lyrics may be a bit cheesy, but overall the melody of the song isn't so bad. You can go to the Chargers official site and take a listen to it there. On the Chargers blog they also mentioned a rap version of it, though I haven't heard it and don't know where to find it (haven't really looked though). I also just read a piece from the AP, saying that Rivers MAY end up playing on Sunday. Of course Rivers himself is more optimistic than Turner. It'll probably be a game-day decision.
  18. ST's NFL News Discussion

Oh boy, it's not lookin' good. Rivers, LT, Gates, etc. are all missing practice because of their injuries. LT says he should be good by Sunday, but Rivers is looking more iffy. I don't know guys, but these injuries couldn't have come at a worse time. If they manage to get healthy enough to play, so what? They might not be prepared if they didn't get enough practice. And I read in the paper today that Norv's concerned. Not lookin' good.
  19. ST's NFL News Discussion

seriously, he said two incredibly dumb things in the same press conference recently. "Rodney Harrison doesn't deserve a super bowl cause he already has one" and "Junior Seau would be just as happy if the chargers won as he would be if the patriots did". of course, now im going to get flamed at for trashing LT.quote> Haha...no, no flaming here. I didn't listen to the press conference, but if he did say the first statement, then yes, that is a stupid comment. As for Seau, I don't blame him for leaving SD. Back then our gameplay was complete rubbish and it didn't seem like we were ever going to improve. Perhaps he's regretting it now a bit, but only because he'd have better weather had he stayed! But pats, thanks for not completely discounting a chance of a Bolts win...there just seems to be waaay too many people out there (not in SD though) who are scoffing at a Bolts victory. Pfff....we'll see about that! But it's still a win/win situation for us...even if we lose this weekend, at least we get to go to the beach with over 70 degree weather after the game...whereas you guys get to freeze your butts off...
  20. ST's NFL News Discussion

Well, I respond when you trash LT because I'm insulted by your insults against him. Most likely if LT was on your team rather than in SD, you'd be doing the exact same thing. Calling out for dancing? It was not calling out for dancing, that of course would be a silly thing, because every team will have a dancer or two whenever they get a TD or some other positive thing happen. No, he was calling out the clear mockery that some of the Pats players were engaging in, replicating Merriman's dance EXACTLY. Merriman's dance is unique to the point where it's almost like a trademark. I don't see anybody else doing it. So when those Pats players were doing it, they were clearly trying to mock him. And that's what LT was calling out. You can be beating a team silly for all anyone cares, and engaging in any dances that you want. But when you try to rub it in someone's face by mocking them, that's when it's not cool anymore. Putting that aside, I agree that all of SD's collective believing that we're going to win isn't gonna do squat. It'll actually hurt more as a result when we end up losing. It's really up to the players and what they believe in. The worst thing that the Chargers can do is get too wrapped up in the pressure of delivering a win, and then lose focus and actually end up losing. They need to focus on the gameplay at the moment, and attempting to cut off the Pats where it'll be most effective. Brady might be much more consistent than Rivers, but I wouldn't discount Rivers' talent. Remember that this is only Rivers' second season as a starting QB. Brady just has more experience and gets good protection. Whenever Rivers gets good protection and just enough time, he really ends up shining as well, just like he did at Indy this past Sunday. Rivers' worst performances have almost always happened when he's been under to much pressure, because he didn't get enough protection from his team. And that's what he still has to work on, being able to deal with tight situations where you need to get rid of the ball fast. Let's remember that when Brady joined the Pats, he was being used as a backup, and he was way down the line on the draft list. His talent was simply "discovered" as a result of Bledsoe being injured. If not for that, he may have sat on the bench another few years, his talent being discounted. Interesting, isn't it?
  21. ST's NFL News Discussion

afterall, he is a crybaby.quote> Crybaby? Geez, you just can't stand the fact that he called you guys out, can't you? But I can't say that I would include Brady in the team's behavior. Oddly enough, I watched the 60 Minutes interview with him a few weeks back, and I have to say that he didn't come across as a bad guy at all. And his story of how he got to the NFL is very humbling I must say, very humbling indeed. It should be mentioned that Brady hasn't been included in all the controversy concerning the team, and so it's relieving to see that he's a decent guy with talent, just trying to play the game. Anyways, the really cold weather will most likely play a factor in the Bolt's performance against NE. We're just not used to those temps down here in SoCal! I certainly do hope that they could pull off a miracle win, but realistically, I don't see it happening. The defense would have to put enormous pressure on Brady in order to pull anything off. And with Rivers and LT looking iffy, then the predictions become really grim. But hey, we beat Indy against all odds. And we showed that we can still pull something off without all of our star players on the field. If that doesn't prove our talent and that we truly are the San Diego SUPER Chargers, then nothin' does. On another note, snow day? Man, when I was younger and living in Denver, we never had a single snow day, even with several feet of snow on the ground. The closest I ever got to a snow day was here in SD, where they closed school because it was too hot. But that was probably because the school didn't have AC, just fans.

pats- Just for future reference, it's not "Calafornia" but "California". Hence the name "Cali". And about LT. Just because he's one of the few decent individuals in the league doesn't give you the right to make fun of him because he feels strongly about etiquette. Unlike a lot of the other players, he's not constantly trying to act like a playboy and gangsta all the time to build up their self-image. Just as it has been mentioned here time and time again, he was just pointing out the smugness that the Pats seem to be exhibiting so often. That aside, the Chargers, and Norv Turner in particular, are really under pressure to finally win a playoff game for once. If they don't, then the coaching change will really have been for naught. But will they win? One would think that with so many playoff losses in their history, that they would finally be sick enough of it to finally pull of a win. But if Rivers doesn't bring out his A game, then it'll be a big question mark. You just can't rely on LT all the time, because that's what the other team's defense will most likely focus on. You really need to get a good passing game going in order to be successful. For Rivers, that means he needs enough protection to relieve him of pressure, so he can complete the pass. I'm not so concerned about the Titans as I am with the Colts. With the Colts one needs to hope for one of their choking moments. Of course, the Chargers could always surprise us. Just like there have been a lot of surprises this season already.
  23. ST's NFL News Discussion

ah, you never know with the Chargers. Brady might get too sure of himself and end up being sacked and then start throwing interceptions, with special teams going in for the kill...
  24. ST's NFL News Discussion

I never was and never will be a Patriots fan, but their talent is commendable. No bandwagon here though.
  25. ST's NFL News Discussion

It was a needed win for SD for sure, after the fires and all. But the Texans just made so many mistakes. The biggest being that ridiculous snap to the kicker (can't remember his name), which went flying over his head and then the ball went flying down the field, into the endzone, and the bloody kicker couldn't even drop himself onto the ball! All SD had to do was pick up the ball, and bam!, a TD for SD. Houston just gave them free points! Not to mention all the interceptions and incompletes the Texans were throwing. So SD is still tied with Kansas City for top spot in the AFC West.
