Leech10: Thanks, and by the way... Never mind. Zelgadis: The story in three brief words... STUFF BLOWS UP. actually, there's more to it than that but... not a while lot more... heh. And so... UPDATE 6 - year 0.5 AL All is going according to plan. the scout ship has been recommissioned for use by the 2nd Expeditionary fleet, who will be departing shortly. the other members of the (ERASED) are currently readying the (ERASED) for launch. Soon we shall no longer have to hide from the public. they will know that the (ERASED) are the true masters of this world. the president is a mere figurehead, a puppet in our control. we will seize complete power, and advance our plans for galactic domination... and our trump card? The Dreadnought... In order for our plans to come to fruition, we must accelerate the colonization of the inner worlds. the dreadnought is almost ready. this is our time, brothers. -log of the (ERASED), meeting 12 High Admiral Wright's log, 22nd of Virtue. There goes our scout, who'll be pushing forward in order to give us our path. our first goal is to re-secure this planet and put down several colonies. the planet is very rich with resources, and if we can use them properly we'll be able to supply altros for about 60 years at the current rate of expansion. The scout has already pushed on further. the planet seems to be sparsely inhabited with The decendants of the expedition, so they should be easy to silence. I'm shocked that they are even damaging the ship with their primitive weaponry... Something's not right... they're... too coordinated compared to the ones grundsweld faced... We've lost contact with the probe... but we're still going. and we're going in style. we are armed with sate of the art weapons and the most experienced crews on the planet. we can even coordinate a simultaneous phase jump, something that old max can't do. Our timing isn't too far off, but there are some incompetent stragglers. The planet's orbital space is clear, so we'll continue on to the scout's last known location. my men are losing their coordination. i'll have to punish them severely. Our timing is off by a great margin this time... ... and our arrival was expected. the first shots are made by us. the enemy shall be destroyed shortly. Space is full of our missiles- and as some have said... A LOT of Dakka. the Dreadnought's nuclear missiles are some of the best weapons ever developed by our scientists. And when fired in large numbers, the compounding blast waves double our firepower. The tide turned to our favor as soon as the battle started. now, it's just a matter of time before they give in. our missiles are hitting their mark, and the battle should be over soon. The nukes are especially...Persuasive... The Enemy has tried to ambush us. how foolish of them. Even their most Powerful ships are swiftly taken down by our rockets. The battle is almost ours. Their ships are still putting up resistance, and several new ones have come out from hiding in the asteroids and from behind the planet. we will CRUSH them. There are three main weapon systems on the ship. the autocannons, the lasers, and the missle tubes. the three long tubes on the front are the planetary bombardment systems, and the trench on top is the bombardment railgun. Together, this is the most powerful ship in the fleet. All our firepower is being concentrated on the last cruiser... ...Which is promptly destroyed. There are only 2 ships left in the enemy fleet. make that one. The last ship is finished off by our missile frigates. The planet is ours, and a colony ship should come through shortly to establish a few surface settlements. We are reforming to push forward. This arctic planet, Leacvadi, is also full of enemies. (Credit to Leech10) Good thing they don't stand a chance against us. We Gave them a Closer look at the weapons systems. The firepower we have at our disposal is enough to mount a Coup. i might even consider doing that when this is done. It hurts more because it's focused on to one target. Again, they try ambushing us... ...But it fails miserably. Their numbers are dwindling- while ours remain the same. They seem to have some fanatacisms about defending their homes. But missiles always do the trick. The enemy is losing, one ship by one. And they've just lost again. We're going to continue on. Our phase trail is thousands of miles long, and can be seen from the other side of the system. I've had several reports of seizures by people looking out of the windows during phase. for this reason, all windows on the ship are closed before phase. We've arrived at an asteroid field. It seems usless at first, but... There are two mining colonies, now defunct, on the asteroids. they could be restarted. I've just recived word that the colonisation ship has arrived. it'll go to Leacvadi next. Ancient History Chapter 1: 7000-6000 PL The first record of the altros people was located about 150 years ago in the metling northern contininent. preserved in ice for several thousand years, it was nevertheless damaged when the ice melted. the paintings on the wall were, however, incredibly complex and their tecnique would not be matched for about 5000 years. digitally reconstructed and enhanced, here is one of the most mysterious series of paintings preserved in the "Ice Temple". This painting seems to indicate Extraaltrosian civilizations of some kind. They seem incredibly advanced, but are likley mythical. Some theorists say that this was an ancient hub for an interplanetary transportation system. It seems that these buildings were powering them. A small indecipherable line of text sits next to this one. Next come the most shocking ones. there is an odd black disturbance near the top. Which Grows and seems to destroy the structures with lighning. all that's left is the single central temple. Since the discovery of these paintings, legends have sprung up, stories have been written, and archeologists have searched franticlly for the temple, to no avail... yet. Updated map of the UANoC Next update is sometime in september.

Maraus: thank you. the screens are coming up now. Nottheboss: thanks, i intend to keep using SOSE and SupCom as well as more sc4. Leech10: heheheh. Planetfall The year is 2229 (standard). the nations of altros are at war. already millions have died. little do most people know- something important is about to happen. and the people who least expect it? The small fishing community on Salamis Island... This tiny, insignificant community of 456 (est) has lived a poor life through the devastating war. The remainder of the community lives on it's sole export: Fish. A small fleet of boats operate from this tiny harbor. The small community either works these boats or at the packing and distribution plants surrounding them. The small loading peir here usually sees a few cargo ships per day, most of them military. And the only way to get to the island is by this miniscule airstrip. there is one other reason to live here... the orbital monitoring station near the top of Mount Loki. This monitoring station has picked up a strange disturbance that will mean the end of the last era of terrestrialism on altros. it is a large object, already split into several peices. one of which, #13, is heading towards this very island. The first fragments seem to be little more than "fariy dust." But soon it becomes clear that Fragment 13 is going to hit the island. The Exact time of impact? 9:32 AM (After Meridian, meaning in the evening) The Fragment itself (Note: The BAT for this isn't finished so i'm using a few placeholders.) Within hours Airborne had arrived... ... and within days, the navy had too. Three Years later... A new, much larger community has just sprung up. based around a large military airbase, the new community is built with the intention of one thing- the recovery of technology from fragment 13. The Airbase isn't the largest, but it is one of the most important. The docks are built for temorary stays of navy vessels, and the occasional loading of artifacts for further study on the mainland. the residential sector is still modest, but a bit wealthier. and this road, leading to the top, is the main conduit for trucks loaded with the alien technology. the fragment itself has large indoor areas, so there's no need for anything more than a road outside. over the next 50 years, the fragment would be almost completley gutted. nowadays. the island is a ghost town, only survivng as an airforce base, and a completely redundant one at that. the fragment itself is stil there, looking much the same on the outside as it always did. Next update- not sure. one of the last before the end of august.

Leech10: I know what you're thinking. gremlin is just a code-name. all will be explained- IN DUE TIME... Anyway, those of you still reading are probably waiting for more. UPDATE 4 Year 0.3 AL (After Light) We've been stationed at Dionysus for about 3 months now, and we've finally Recived orders to head out and continue exploration. a new load of colonists was brought to us by a convoy yesterday, and we're heading out now. there's still no word on the missing prototype, but we do know it was antiunionists who stole it. I'm not willing to risk following them, so we'll head another route. our ship hasn't yet been fully repaired, so i'm in doubt. luckily, the the ships that pursued the prototype earlier are still stationed here, so we'll call on them for support. I was almost blinded when we left our jump. a whole star! it's not as bright as Altros Alpha, so Altros Beta doesn't have enough light coming out of it to break the phase barrier. it has several moons, though i don't think they'll be of much value. enemy ships are moving in. for this close to a star, there are a LOT of them. We've been surrounded on all sides, and our shields are taking damage. We're calling in backup. The enemy ships are the same ones we've already dealt with, but this time they are strangely more coordinated... And they are laying a beating on us. Backup is on it's way. Three ships have been redirected our way. We're losing fast, though. And the've arrived. They aren't helping much, but then again, their cannons aren't that powerful. We've just lost power to our shields, which means... ...That it's time to make a fighting retreat. We're stalled momentarily by our phase drive, but it engages in the nick of time. Thankfully every ship made it out. Albeit, with major damage. Even our own ship is full of hull breaches. Thankfully, command has just informed me... ...that an orbital repair scaffold has been constructed in orbit of Dionysus. After manuvering for a few minutes it comes into view. After docking for a few days to repair the damage, we're ready to move out. our next target is a smaller object nearby altros beta. The frigates will be accompanying us. our arrival to the object appears to be not quite what we had expected... ...an asteroid field. There's nothing of interest here. no mineable elements, just useless rocks. we'll continue to the next target. Our phase reactor has recived a tune up. looking back over the colonies, it's hard to belived that they were actually founded less than 3 months ago. We've arrived at our next stop. the planet is almost entirely swampland, and huge hurricanes often come by. thankfully, it's in the (Relatively) calm season, and we should be able to build basic infrastructure before storm season. We've just picked up two enemy ships on course for us. they're easier than most. it's a bit relaxing not having to worry about an entire fleet facing us. our ships are making short work of them. and both soon fall apart. We're now hurring to get the planet's infrastructure up before a storm hits. and that means every second counts. Another planet joins the UAN(oC) Meanwhile, The founder colonies finally have a transportation netwrok. The plans for the phase drive were recently released to the public, so every shipbuilding company and their uncle has tried to make a cargo transport. the most popular is the XTG-102 cargo transport. along with cargo, they also have room for several families to move, and several hundred passengers. the network has other stops at New altros... ...Altros itself... ...and Dionysus. The New trade network, though only a few days old, is already swarming with these new ships. And now, the need for expansion is greater than ever. Recorded log/Defense minister's officeDate 7/42/0.3AL Walter: ah, High Admiral Wright. i trust you enjoyed your promotion? Wright: Yes, sir. Walter: Well it's time you took command of your flagship... ...But I hope that you will not abuse the power of... ...The Dreadnought... I made some unit profiles. Why? because i could. Expect the next update in a week or so(vacation)

Jacquilina: Thank you. anik: Thanks. i'm going to assume you mean a paradise world (Island continental with shallow water) rather than swamp. Leech10: Thanks for your continued support. Archean: SC4 is going to be used, just not right now. Schulmanator: Thank you for continued support. And Now... ______________________________________________________________ MEGA UPDATE #1 Admiral Grundsweld here. before I begin, I feel i should introduce you to some of the major players in this entry. Admiral Grundsweld: That's me. i'm the commander of the 1st Expeditionary fleet, and the highest ranking officer in the Stellar Navy. I'm currently in orbit of Dionysus, so I'll be conferring with everyone else via phase-telecommunication. Defense Minister Walter: The President's advisor on military Affairs. A bit stubborn, but very experienced in dealing with the Anti-Unionists. General Miller: Commander of all ground forces on altros. takes orders only from the president. He's Reckless, bold, and as some have argued- stupid. He is a tactical genius, but lacks the attention span to actually use this advantage to its true potential. Captain Wright: She's the commander of the UANS Typhoon, a Hunter submarine who first picked up the distress call. Vice President Hawke: Second only to the president, he's the guy in charge of making sure this incident is never seen by the public, or atleast that there aren't any reprecussions because of it. Juan Cayusto: He's not the real Juan Cayusto, actually. the real one Started the Anti-union movement, being a defeated warlord from the unification wars. the leader that replaced him decided to inherit the title, and ever since then every antiunionist leader has renamed themselves Juan Cayusto. We're Dealing with the Fifth one now. _____________________________________________________________________ Hawke: Thank you all for coming. Now we don't have much time, so let's get to the point. (Clicks button.) (clicks button) (clicks button again) Hawke: As you can see, an Anti-unionist faction has taken control of the Noah Island Nuclear Weapons facility, and Launched a nuclear MIRV missile. the missle was shot down by our aging defense system, but with the jammer enabled such a feat would be impossible again. our goal today is to prevent them from launching another nuke. Walter: The general and I have already drawn up a battleplan. Slide 4, If you would? As you can see, the island is heavily defended against land, air and sea attacks. it does, however, have weak points. A diversionary assualt Led by the 135th armor and the 73rd Airlift should draw their attention aways from the real assault, led by a Zeta Group squad. Miller: the covert squad will infiltrate (Next slide, please?) the underground base Via the Abandoned missle silo, and from there will retake the command center and turn the auto defenses on the enemy. The island has significant military presence, and is the housing place fore every nuclear weapon made before planetfall. the new nuclear weapons are being housed in the military stations in orbit, but the old arsenal totals at around 2 gigatons of TNT in total. The island also has facilities to launch and maintain nuclear bombers and Boomer Submarines. The island also has Conventional and tactical nuclear cruise missiles for self defense and storage purposes. Walter: Admiral, you ecountered a situation similar to this when you were in the surface navy, correct? Grundweld: incorrect. that was different. a nuclear sub had been stolen, not a nuclear island. Miller: Anyway, do you have any idea what their reasoning might be for launching a nuclear warhead without even delivering a message? Grundsweld: They have enough nuclear weapons to destroy 10 planets. they can do whatever they want. my guess is that they were testing out the weapon systems of the island. any idea by the trajectory id had where it might have landed? Miller: It was shot down in the boost phase. so, no. Grundsweld: Besides, if they were to use nukes on a civil installation, the cause would evaporate overnight. the want to destroy the government, not the people. my guess is that it was headed for sovreign point to nuke the armory, or out into space to attack the scaffold. Wright: Typhoon has reached Finn's atoll. we are preparing to launch the Zeta team. Hawke: We'll have to cut this meeting short. everyone get to your stations. the battle's about to start. _____________________________________________________________ This is alpha force. we are -15 seconds to operations commence. Tanks are down, repeat, tanks and infantry are down. Enemy batteries are opening up... We're under heavy fire! Indigo Six is down- Repeat, we have lost indigo six! Team two is inside the complex, moving twoards control room now. I've lost Junius team- where's our air support? Airspace is hot! Cruise Missile launch detected! Zeta team- we've reached the first waypoint. we're climing the cliffside now. Heavy causualties from missile impact! We've lost 25 percent of the diversionary force! This is armor-4, we're having trouble with these turrets! This is Augustus team- We've lost nearly half our forces, WHERE IS OUR AIR SUPPORT? Those turrets are tearing through our infantry- the tanks aren't getting through! This is Zeta team, we're almost at the top of the cliff. This is Armor-1 requesting orbital strike on enmy turrets. *Negative, armor-1, satellite is not in position yet* This is zeta team. we've entered the complex via the abandoned missile silo. Zeta Team is inside. This is zeta team, we've breached the control room. (At this point, communications blacked out for several minutes) -alling command, this is zeta team to command. By this pointe we have been overrun. in order to prevent any further nuclear launches, we have set a nuclear missle to launch and drop back onto this facility. rest assured that the diversionary forces are out of range of the blast and need only be concerned about nuclear fallout. please to not try to avert the launch. ... ... ... ... ... Confirming one detonation above ground and numerous underground detonations. the turrets have stopped firing. Armor is moving to investigate impact zone. The base has caved in. Wright: just before the nuke hit, we though we heard a sub slipping away from the underwater pens. the subpens have caved in, so we can't actually confirm that a sub got away. if it did, though, we're far from the end of this. ______________________________________________________ This is Altros Airspace command. What's going on up there? ?: They're *cough* Stealing the prototype... AAC: who's stealing the prototype? sir? are you okay? ?: ... This is Altros AC to all military units- An unidentified faction has stolen the prototype bombardment frigate and has commenced phase jump twoards the unnamed planet. all units prepare to defend the colonies from attack! This is the first patrol unit, roger, we'll cut'em off at new altros. This is the UANSS Cyclops to all ships- commence phase jump! This is the first patrol- we've arrived at new altros airspace. no sign of the ship, though. Wait- there it is! it's on a course for Dionysus- warn the admiral! All ahead flank, prepare to fire main cannons! -It's Escaping! After it! Grundsweld: the ship has just entered local airspace- it's too far to intercept, but the fighters could catch up... This is UANHQ to all ships- break off pursuit if the target jumps into unidentified space. this is an official order. Damn...we lost it... __________________________________________________________________ One last thing before i go. the the firs tmap of the Founder colonies has just been released to the public. here it is. Oh, yeah, and the unnamed planet hasn't been colonized yet, so it's name is still up for grabs by the highest bidder. ((Check out update 1&2 for the details.)) ____________________________________________ The next couple of updates will probably bring about a few more planets, but don't expect anything major until august. thanks for reading.

UPDATE 3 and UANOC CHARTER 45th of Judgement, year 0 AL Captain Grundsweld here. it's been several months since our forces destroyed the enemy ships in orbit of this volcanic planet. We're starting to run low on supplies, so we'll push onward to see if we can find a more suitable planet for colonization. This planet is currently useless, but it's location makes it strategically important. It also has several moons filled with important resources. The civillians are starting to complain about the rationing of food onboard. it can't be helped i guess. An object of comparable size to this planet is on the other end of this phase lane. phase jump trails are so bright they can be seen even from as far away as altros. and the ship itself can be seen from a hundred thousaund miles away. We've arrived at a terraformed planet of similar composition to altros. the defense forces look like they've been stunned by our appearance. We are engaging them... and we'll destroy them. This enemy ship is of a design somewhat unfamilliar to us- a large, bulky and ineffcient cruiser, which our military retired over 25 years ago. still, if it hurts, it works, and this one is deadly. an overhead shot of the battle shows how chaotic space warfare really is. the only advantage we have here is that our ships can hold a formation and aren't rookies anymore. The enemy cruisers close in on us... ...With LRM frigates supporting in the rear. these guys do know some battle tactics. Our ship closes in to broadside the enemy cruisers. but it's our missle frigates that are doing the real killing. our forces have taken heavy causualties, and are struggling to keep some sort of formation. The constant stream of missles coming from both sides only adds another level of confusion. our broadsides are opening up on the cruiser. Missles are still flying- i really should get these frigates replaced. Enemy reinforcments have just arrived- they'll be dealt with shortly. The enemy criuser is going critical... Thanks to our portside cannons. We've ordered our civillian sectors to lockdown in case of the worst. only three of our frigates remain. this will have to end quickly. the debris field is much larger this time- as it should be. already 3,789 men have lost their lives on our side alone. the last of the enemy frigates have been targeted. And destroyed... This space junk left over could be a threat to the surface if it isn't cleaned up, but that isn't our problem. Only one frigate survived the battle, although it took heavy casualties. And so, a majority of our colonists disembarked here, on this "New Altros" As some have called it. Almost immediatley after sending the colonists down, we recived new orders to push onward to the next planet. and so we did. The next planet we found was smaller planet, with a massive savannah stretching from north pole to south. it had only one major inland sea. As would be expected, there were forces in defense- this time, we didn't know if we could handle them. They had heavy cruisers, too. this would not be easy. the frigate accompaniying us went down almost immediatley it's becoming clear we cannot hold our own. the enemy has us outnumbered, outgunned, and surrounded... which means it's time to reveal tha new black project... the B-114 Carrier-based strike bomber- known better as the Cobra...or, Fatman to some of the pilots who are less pleased with it. the bombers are fast, agile, and heavily armed. perfect for taking out cruisers. They aren't invincible, but they are hard to hit. The enemy has a ship designed to counter fast moving objects, but it's in no shape to stop them right now. that deafening sound means our shield just collapsed. And that we're now vulnerable to enemy fire. It's a bad time for this now... but the civillians are disembarking for their own safety. we'll have the situation here cleaned up shortly. They've landed in the area surrounding the inland sea. Another planet joins the UAN. And we? We're staying her for a while. there are big plans. I jnust got the following document sent to me by high command. The United Altros Nations and Outer Colonies charter I. Formation We, the People of altros and its outlying colonies, in order to preserve peace, liberty, and justice, among our many other ideals, sign this charter as an establishment of a unified governing body to oversee the operation of altros and its colonies. II. Authority Each colony which declares its own ruling council shall be required to send one senator to the Grand Forum on altros to represent the people of his colony. the colony may establish its own laws and form of government, so long as these do not contradict the laws made by the grand forum. III. Millitary Local militas of each colony must register with the grand forum and the UAN navy. if a militia unit fails to register, it will be disbanded with force. the UAN navy's authority includes that to command local millitia units and make a civillian draft on any colony. failure to a colony to comply with the navy will result in severe punishment. IV. Rebellion Any act by any colony to declare themselves independent of the UANOC, wether with arms or with words, will result in most severe punishment. We the undersigned agree with every point of this document and swear to uphold it, else tried for treason. _________________________________ A Reminder... you can still name your planet according to the rule posted in the first update. the planets already colonized will not have their names changed. expect a pretty massive update at the end of july.

Leech10: thanks again. your request has been noted. Schulmanator: thanks for you input. nottheboss: thanks, your request has been noted. Patricius Maximus: Thanks, your request has been noted. unfortunatley alien civilizations don't mesh with the story at this point. Captain Grundsweld's log It's been one hell of a day. unlike last time our shields failed before we phased out, and we took heavy causalties. At least the thing still flies. When we returned, there was something new in orbit. something huge. Naturally, we had no idea what it was. command was a mess, and they didn't even have the time to tell us what this was. Fortunatley, we had a little more intelligence than command did and could clearly see what the intended purpose of this structure was. it was a larger orbital shipyard. probably for launching larger ships than the frigates launched previously. as expected, there was construction of some kind of ship, though it wasn't identifiable until you analyzed it for several minutes. the ship under construction was the same one that had crashed on the planet almost 50 years ago. Albeit some major refitting and reconstruction. It was still unclear at the time what role this ship would fill. but, it became clear soon enough. High command informed us that it was the flagship of the 1st Expeditionary force, with the task of colonizing - or conquering all possible ventures. And the captain of this great force? you guessed it. me. Atleast the thing isn't flimsy like the scout ship. Though the civillian population selected is a bit- picky. I Honestly have no idea why command needs to launch a giant battleship filled with artillery and heavy weapons for a mission as simple as colonization. Well, this thing isn't actually that bad. beats having to run everytime we find an enemy. though it's nowhere near as fast. The media is on top of the news- -yesterday's news, at least. Here come our escorts- newly refurbished ones that trade lasers for missiles - not as fast or accurate, but they do much more damage. They're still full of raw recruits, but they'll have to do. still, they're good enough to hold a formation. _________________________________________________________________________________ The phase jump was quick and uneventful, but now things are getting a little more frantic. Yep, it's a battle again. The enemy being devastated by our missle barrage. And our close-in weapons system is working well. The missles probably blind our enemies, too. One by one, they line up and fall. It's hard to see the battle through the constant stream of missles firing in front of us. And another one bites the dust. They must have some pretty good training if they can hold out for that long. the new escort frigates could be likened to missle hoses. The last one goes down. Like the last battle, all that remains of the enemy is debris. and us? we're a little scratched up, but otherwise fine. The mission isn't though. the planet's geoactivity and extreme heat make colonization at this point an impossibility, and the moons aren't large enough to support a colony. we'll have to find other, more hospitable planets first- but before we do that - we need to make some repairs, and that could take us a while. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ You can still name a planet as per the rules listed at the end of update 1. you can expect another update sometime in july.

ac94: thanks for your input. Nemesis666: the pictures came from Sins of a solar empire. if you don't have it, go check out the demo. Unfortunatley, the cities will not be in the journal till chapter three. Leech10: thanks for the input. UPDATE 1 Under the request of president grant, I, Maximillian Grundsweld, will cover the entire story of our further exploration of the system. it has been a month since our unsuccessful attempt to explore the asteroid we dubbed Gaea. the force that attacked us have been identified. They aren't alien at all, but a task force of our ships dispatched around ten years after the monolithic ship fell from orbit. they have traveled on conventional drive and seem to be defending a small colony on the surface. We lost contact with them due to the obstruction of the phase barrier, which we were unaware of at the time. we have changed our insigna many times, and because of it, we must have appeared a hostile force to them- especially with a yet-unseen ship chassis and the phase drive. they were also ussing old communique standards, which prevent our successful negotiation. the ship is to wait near the construction site of the new orbital military acadamey, one of the new preparations for war. we fear that many of the objects we sent expeditions to are colonized and will react in a hostile manner. The ruling council has not yet publicized the above information, or even that we were attacked in the first place. just the regular coverup BS. They must feel good in their position. most powerful people on the planet, rich, famous. why shouldn't i have those things? i was the first commander of a faster than light ship, after all... Skyport 12 is buzzing with the usual activity. The Capital is as frantic as ever. And the Construction on Military academy platform 1 is proceeding along nicely. I don't know what to make of it. for all i know i'm teaching here next semester. The old defense fleet we bulit up (Out of fear for an alien invasion) after the Starship came is also being rebuilt, refit, and remodeled with modern technology, heavier weapons, and most importantly, phase drives. The old crew has long since become lost in history, so a new crew is being trained as we speak. ___________________________________________________________________________________ It's been several months now, and the hastily graduated new crew are preparing for their first active mission. i'll observe it wit a scout drone attached to the flagship. Although the Asteroid can be seen dimly through the phase barrier leak, it can't be seen with enough detail to make out the hostile ships. The crew are boarding the ships for their first mission now. with little intel and little experience, I can only pray for their success. So this is our new navy. the "First Expeditionary Force" Doesn't seem an appropraite title. After all, we're fighting the first expeditionary force to leave the planet, anyway. Their Green is in the clear- they can't even hold a straight manuvering formation. And they failed to properly sync their phase jumps. can't blame them on this on though- the phase computer is extremely complicated. It won't make much of a difference this time. they'll all jump in within seconds. The enemy is still there, just as i remember it. They gave the warning signal, even a warning shot, but it seems the defenders aren't going to surrender. They are engaging the enemy. seems like they did everything by the book this time. their Precision fire seems to be ok... Uh-oh, let's see how they handle enemy reinforcments... They fell victim to a clssic ambush. the flagship is sustaining moderate damage. The first enemy has been successfully dealt with. Shift of fire is somewhat sluggish... ...but gets the job done. The enemy is starting to show signs of damage. Which quickly escalates into... ...Destruction. the new fleet seems to be able to hold their own- for now. The fleet is battered, but otherwise alright. no casualties reported. And in their wake - complete destruction of the enemy fleet. Meanwhile, construction of a new ship has been completed - a 2-mile long ship (More like a city with jet engines on the back) with one intent- to colonize any and all objects suitable. The Massive ship departs unceremoniously - we've learned that it's bad luck to have huge celebrations for risky events. The ship, arriving to deaf ears, positions itself above Gaea. Three cargo shuttles are dispatched to the surface with building materials, food, and most importantly- the first colonists on Gaea- the first that belong to us, of course. The shuttles land at previous, now abandoned, bases left on the surface by the occupying forces. This colony is the first step in a long journey. a long, long journey. Even the news has picked up on this quickly... ______________________________________________________________________________ We've recived new orders... finally. We're to investigate another nearby object. one that has a much larger gravitational well than Gaea. Chances are high we'll face combat. So we've found a way to recharge the phase drive much faster than normal. An entire planet- so close to us! this is pretty shocking. the planet has several moons, and... Defense forces... Hostile Defense forces. We have no choice but to retreat. there are thrice as many ships in defense as the asteroid. Let's Not do that again. ___________________________________________________________________ Attention- People of Altros! The Expeditionary force is in need of funding! If you Provide us with the following, a planet of your choice will be named in honor of you. (Post the name the planet you want, the type of planet (Terran, Ice, Volcanic, Oceanic, Forest, Swamp, Industrial, Urban, Toxic, Relic, Gas giant, or Orbiting Stars) and i will name them (If there are any) to your request. please note the volcanic and ice planets are more common, and will hold the greatest chance. first come, first served. i claim the right to censor inappropriate or unfitting names. limit one per user.) Expect an update on the weekend.

Hello everyone. it's been a long time since my last CJ, (Which failed horribly because i can't play SC4), so i thought i'd try something different. instead of this being a journal about the construction of a city, this is a journal about the Exploration, Expansion, Exploitation, and In some cases, Extermination of a galaxy. so, with out further ado, i present... ___________________________________________________________________________ PROLOUGE _______________ Fifty years ago, a massive alien spacecraft broke through the upper atmosphere of a primitive planet named Altros. the craft crashlanded in an equatorial desert of the primitive planet, and led to massive damage of the primitive native's civilization and infrastructure. The natives, who were so technologically backwater that they still thought digital watches were facinating technology, felt threatened by the fact that there were other intelligent life forms in the universe far more advanced than them, and so they took it upon themselves to reverse engineer the technologies inside the remaining hulk. Strangely, there were no survivors of the crash, not even corpses. the scientists in charge of the intial surviellance claimed they had seen ghosts of the crew, but they have been denounced as "Insane." The Secrets of phase technology were never truly discovered. although the Faster than light drives would work, they would only work if supplied with a constant stream of phase energy- which was impossible, if not for the same freak occurance that had had brought them the technology in the first place. all objects with major gravitational wells in the system were surrounded by a barrier of phase energy, which occluded them from seeing anything but the star they orbited. when the alien ship entered the system, faster than light debris from it punctured holes in these natural phase barriers, and from them a constant flow of phase energy occured, forming lanes that connected the many gravitational bodies into a single network. this network of lanes could only be detected with Altrosian sensor technology if the lane happened to be in the system the ship was in. 50 years of preparations and major technological discoveries have led up to this fateful day. Chapter 1: Exploration The Planet Altros - Orbit 2272 standard years. Today is truly a day of triumph. the final designs for the first interplanetary scout craft have been developed- and the crew finally ready to proceed. Fifty years of research have brought Altros Prosperity and Unity. now every citizen may celebrate, as all around the globe they do now. Even the bright blue star we have learned to call our sun seems to be shining in salute of this momentus occasion. Our orbital mining colonies were just the first step, and now they too, lay dormant, in observance of this marvellous occasion. Brothers, Sisters, Countrymen! today is the day we take our first steps into a NEW WORLD! And that was President Grant of the United Altros Governing Council. now let's go live to our exclusive interview with Max Grundsweld, leader of the scout ship team. "I honestly don't know what to expect. either the thing works or it doesn't. I don't know what's out there, but it's likley to be like nothing i could imagine." "Mr. Grundsweld, is your team and ship ready for the expedition?" "Honestly, I don't really have a precedent to run on here with the crew, as far as the ship goes... ...They're finishing final construction now. I expect she'll be ready in about three hours. Our president was a little overzealous with the speech. anyway, I've got to go soon...like, now. so yeah, Hail Altros and...uh, Good luck." And that was Max Grundsweld live, exclusivley from ANN. stay tuned for live footage of the launch. Captain's log - first of tribute, standard year 2272. all appears normal and the ship is responding succesfully. shakedown cruise encountered... ...no problems. we are waiting on the orders of mission command to engage the phase drive. Orders have been received, we are activating the phase system. hopefully it won't disintegrate us. This is it... Phase drive worked. now let's hope it'll work as well with the brakes. We're all in one peice. the object this phase lane leads to in an asteroid...looks as if it may be colonizable. it looks like several astreoids in this cluster contain metals that would be mineable and... wait...what's that? one ship of similar size to ours- make that two. we will try to make peaceful contact with the- <File Corrupted> - Engaged us in combat----full speed away---- phase drive---altros... -----Phase----gaged---orks, or w----- heavy dam---- main thrusters off---- Captain's log- supplemental We succeeded in our primary goal and secondary goal, but failed our third goal- that is, to establish peaceful contact. that ship looked like one of ours, but it fired on us for no apparent reason. we were outgunned and outmanuvered... we had to retreat. the phase drive works, but it might need to be tweaked a bit. charge-up was too slow for comfort, and craft has been left virtually defensless. we'll make repairs and then request refit. The first step into space was not an easy one- the people of altros must learn that, in order to expand, they will have to become conquerors. ___________________________________ Please try to keep it constructive.
