if you can't download from the ST-exchange
Sapphire blue replied to smortt's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hi Cougar2004, I have been using Firefox for sometime and have not had any problems, however over the past week or so I have also been having trouble loading both forum and STEX pages from Simtropolis. They seem to take an awfully long time and when they do come up the page is not always complete, for instance, on the STEX I get the picture but not the description or comments part. I am not currently experiencing any problems on other sites like SC4 devotion and I do not think this is an isolated case as there have been one or two other people who have also reported problems loading Simtropolis pages in other threads on this forum, so I think it must be something to do with Simtropolis rather than the browser, maybe it could be a bandwidth problem. -
Farming Jobs Multiplier Mod
Sapphire blue replied to Cougar2004's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hi Cougar, I read somewhere on one of the forums that there are more jobs associated with farms than show on the farm queries. Every individual farm field has some jobs as well, you just are not able to query them. There are a lot of good custom farms available like the BSC farms (I particularly like the Simgoober ones) and the BSC farms also trigger various very nice Reward lots. Yes they do have dependancies but they are packaged in Mega packs and not too difficult to find (usually listed in the readme file) and I think well worth the effort of downloading them. So don't be scared of trying some of the custom farms, try them out in a new city first to make sure your computer can cope with them. If you have any problems you can always delete the downloaded files and go back to just the maxis farms. -
Thanks Liv for your very understandable explanations. So basically I need to keep the population poor and uneducated until I have built up the farms and then I can start to expand with some small commercial and higher wealth and education. Thanks Ripplejet for your prompt response. I have looked at the two links you provided but I have to admit that all those numbers leave me a bit cold. However I think I have the gist of it, everything is governed by the population numbers. Thanks to both of you, much appreciated.

Hi all, I am a bit confused now after reading this thread. I had hoped to be able to glean a bit of information to help me create a rural community with lots of farms, but I am confused about what is meant by the stage numbers applied to farms. How do you know when your game is in a higher stage? If the farms do not upgrade how do you zone for higher stage farms? I have zoned for individual farms of various sizes, initially they usually all develop immediately with mostly small maxis default farms, even though I have a number of various stage custom farm lots in my plugin folder, not many of the custom farms develop. After only a very short game time my agriculture demand falls to zero and none of the additional agriculture zones will develop. i would appreciate any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Boycey08, enrico.astro & TV-VCR Spraying God Mode trees does reduce the pollution, however, depending on how bad the pollution is it may not remove it all together. It helps if once you have reduced the pollution a bit you bulldoze the Dirty Industry lots and leave a bit of space between the zoned blocks and fill them with God Mode trees or other trees and parks. If you increase your Dirty Industry taxes to a very high figure like 18.00 or more then the dirty industry will not develop. But remember you will need to clean up the area before any High Tech industry will develop. There is also a God Tools in Mayor Mode dat file on the STEX. It gives you access to all the God Mode tools on screen at the top of the other Mayor Mode tools without having to use control-shift-alt. The following is the URL address of the dat file. https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=19332 Hope this helps.
