Can you please put your pictures back up, I would love to see the pictures of your interchanges, it's been years since I went on this site. Please.
  2. Xiao, I just want to ask you one question, do you take those wonderful shots of the 401 yourself, because they are amazing. The thing I said about the C/D reaching Oshawa, it looks like the 401 would be called I-96 before that happens.
  3. Xiao, since you are on the east end, I am on the west end as I said before in the PEEL region. Now will those improvements happen like the extension of C/D from Brock to Salem, everything is close together as you said and that is quite hard. About extending the C/D westward. I read somewhere but I doubt it is possible now for the C/D to extend west as far as Mavis Road, which is about 5km of extra C/D. It said to be done by 2005, and they haven't even started. I don't believe that would work unless they extended it as far west as the 320, at Highway 20 in Milton. That is where it should start, if the C/D were to extend to Oshawa in sometime, just think of it, 60 miles of straight C/D, and in most other cities that have C/D, it is an average of about 6 miles of C/D. Now that is about 20 years from even getting off the drawing board I would say.
  4. Duke87, could you post some picture of the NJ Turnpike, I want to see who bad it really is, and another thing, isn't the NJ Turnpike a different style of freeway altogether, one set of lanes are car lanes and the other set of lanes are truck lanes? Can you please help me out on that? Thanks again Xiao, 500,000 cars a day, you gotta be kidding me! Yep, it is getting more ridiculous as we see more people move here everyday.
  5. NAM: Requests

Road over C/D highways, and transfer lanes from one set of lanes to the other without having to use one ways.
  6. Simbourgeois, funny picture, I like it. It reminds me of the time they did a bicycle ride on the Gardiner Expressway in Toronto, ON. Anyways, where is that?

the7trumpets, would it be possible to make a road, avenue, etc. over C/D highway mod or something like that? It would work nicer if a mod was possible to do a DIRECT connection from express to local and vice versa without having to convert to avenues. That was why I asked in the first place! I didn't expect to get an answer to look at the multi-highway tutorial. I want to know, is a highway to highway onramp possible without converting to one ways and is it possible for a road, avenue, over C/D highway.
  8. Xiao, it has been a long time hasn't it? You said once that at the 401/427 Interchange, there is only six lanes. Well I went through there recently and noticed there are eight. Still it doesn't correct the bottleneck from 18 to 6 lanes. It only adds one more lane which shouldn't really make a difference. The 410 was supposed to see an extension about 6 or 7 km. they have a bridge built at Sandalwood Pkwy in Brampton, but it looks like with the new provincial government, this will never be fininshed. Completion time was Summer 2004. So I don't know if I will ever see this extension. 4 to 6 lanes from Windsor to Tilbury is being worked on as we speak. And from Toronto to Parry Sound, there is only 9km of the 400 that is not freeway. They project by 2012 the 400 will go to Sudbury. Anyways, that is what has been going on recently.

I see I am being ignored again, please can you tell me if my post earlier on this page is possible for mods?

the7trumpets, I asked this to the group and they said it was possible a little than a week ago. Concerning collector-distributor highways, you know the Express/Local systems they have in Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, and not to mention, the massive version of it in Toronto. This is what I mean if you don't know, the collector-distributor system. Now would there be ways to build over it with roads and rails. Another thing, is it possible for a side ramp from express lanes to local lanes. Also if that is possible, would a to and from system be possible to each. Like in this picture below: (Compliments of www.thekingshighway.ca) Anyways, look in the upper right of this picture, that is the basketweave structure they call it. What I mean is that it is an interchange from express to local, or local to express, together. Also, would there be a way to make a mod where you don't have to use multi-highways to build this? This would be greatly appreciated.

A Question, do you guys plan to make Collector-Distributor Highways like the ones in Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, and not to mention Toronto. You know, the express-local setup, could you guys make that?
  12. Lets get this back in action after its 5 month sleep, I haven't came to the site in a while, but this was one great topic.
  13. USA_Pride, yep I do agree with you Detroit's interchanges are pretty complex. As you may have read the topic earlier, the best freeway they got in Detroit is I-96, mainly because of its Collector-Distributor system. I find it funny that no one seems to bring those up. Being in Toronto however, we have a massive collector-distributor that reaches 18 lanes at one point, I have said this many of times but I will repeat it. I always thought these were common until recently when I discovered that barely any cities have it. In case you don't know what I mean by collector-distributor, look at the part of I-96 that has a division of Express Lanes and Local Lanes, that is the collector distributor system right there. This isn't North America's busiest freeway for nothing. See how bad this is, and this is normal traffic....

Amazing, but as everyone says, too bad there aren't streetcars. We know there won't be until we can set our bus routes, can you imagine what the streetcar system would be like if you couldn't control the routes. One thing that I wished to see in a sim city game is Collector-Distributor roads. Than you can recreate the 401, but right now, to recreate it, you will have to use Daeley's tricks into building as he calls it multi-highways. But still, amazing recreation, couldn't have done it better myself.
  15. Don't have any in the UK, good that answers one of my questions. But still, it is good, it gives the road two sets of lanes. If they need to shut one down they can use the other. One thing that is not the best with collector-distributors is the problem to how fast you have to switch three lanes if the exit is 2km from the transfer. And that can be quite risky sometimes, that is what causes traffic jams in the first place. Still, for whatever reason, I prefer an 18 lane road done collector-distributor (4/5/5/4) than a pure 18 lane road with just 9 lanes on either side. The C/D seperates certain lanes which is a good thing. The C/D as I said is not too common but I think it is a great style of freeway. But all in all, the good outweighs the bad with this.
