What's new? Nothing. Or, if you want, crappy mods from non developers I want Sim City 5, made by the original creators. Will it happen? not likely

Wow, either it is a good Photoshop/GIMP edit ....or real. I have been playing SC4(and then later DE) I have NEVER seen this and I play with ALL the GFX on MAX/HIGH. Of course I never really left it on the region view for longer than a min or two.

Sims are complaining about a 30min commute time in a 42mi city?! I live 5mi from work and there is no way it is taking these sims 30+min to get there. Are they riding bikes or walking? I am using sumulator Z Ultra and I still get abandonded buildings due to commute time. I have avenues and freeways. but it is extremely difficult to get to 200K people for me, gets to about 100 to 150K and stalls :/

Your highest population on a medium city tile?
CheshireDragon replied to Randomtaskk's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I've Mastered Sim City 3000. However, SC4 is proving to be a difficult one. I can get large region cities working together and population of 150K in the medium size. I would like to get the 500K. Then I would consider myself pro. At 100 - 150K my cities start decaying. I think it might be my transportation. I use a grid style and bus stations. Its not like I have a ton of space to put more jobs. I get a ton of no job zots after a while. -

Sim City in 16x9 instead of just 4x3
CheshireDragon replied to Something_started's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
WOW, HD(1920x1080) res is beautiful!!!! I know SC4 isn't pushing HD but, it still perty *drool* -
I think Vista may better manage cores and spread applications across them. XP does not do this. As for Linux, I have not tested it yet to see if my AMD X2 does this. Seeing as it is XP emulation I am lean towards no.

Play SimCity 4 in Linux!
CheshireDragon replied to doorknob60's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I agree, every good topic can't be sticky but, this is a topic for running Sim City on an alternate OS that is making great strides to the average desktop user. -

Play SimCity 4 in Linux!

I still cannot believe this is not a sticky, yet. What does it take? -
My specs are in my sig line and it runs SC4 deluxe beautifully. Cody426: You are right it does NOT utilize two or four cores...only one Memory and Video are the two major issues. I wouldn't hurt upgrading to 4GB and possibly an 8800GTS OR if I decided to upgrade to a PCI-e board then most likely a 9800GT, even at the sacrifice of ½ the RAM it will run great.

How to run SimCity 4 on Linux
CheshireDragon replied to TV-VCR's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
OH, it is faster, i have noticed write times to the HDD are much faster. Saving and loading the city itself are where i notice the speed increase. However, i need to loose this Intel proc and get and equivalent or better AMD. The heat from these latter gen P4s are super hot and slowing it down after an hour or so of game play. 50 to 51 Celsius at idle in BIOS. if any of you know of a good app i can install to check the temp while running the game i'd like to test that as well.
