This project is going great so far! Keep up the good work! I will start with my railway station as soon as possible. Don't expect too much from me however, I'm not an excellent batter oh, by the way: I assume you are aware of the fact that the HSR "can't cross borders" so far? I tried some tests to see how fast the HSR really is when it comes down to commuting, but I noticed that somehow, intercity-commuting is inpossible with the HSR at the moment. Probably just because the HSR isn't finished yet

I am offering my BATting abilities to this project, I will make railway stations. Murakumon is already aware of this, 3ddz, is there anything I should know before I start making them? Thanks!

I am sure it isnt a "random thing". "neighbours" doesnt say anything. The distance can differ from anywhere between 0 and 8 kilometres. It's very important where you place your railstations, they are way more effective if you place them in the middle of a residential neighbourhood, than somewhere alongside the border of the city. Maybe you could try to build lots of bus stops, one bus stop directly next to the railway station, the others spread out across the residential neighbourhood. If you do this, the efficiency of your transportnetwork will increase greatly, because more people are able to use the train. If you do the same in the industrial city, there's no doubt that a lot of people are going to use your railway system

you can find me at any online game by looking for the name "DaMaster_Architect"

what kind of transport are you using? and how far is the distance between those cities? Its best to make the distance as short as possible, for sims are lazy when it comes to commuting. Also, if you only have a few roads, they can get digested quite quickly. An avenue, or a highway would solve much of the digestion problem. If you have rail, it could be that the rail stations aren't placed properly.

Getting Reward Building: Rocket Spaceship?
DaMaster_architect replied to beyurslf's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
you need to do two freight train missions in UDI, in order to get the space port. To do these missions, you need at least two freight stations, connected with eachother by rail. Then you can do the UDI missions, and you will unlock the Space Port. You can unlock it at any difficulty level. -
unfortunately, there are no mods which make a game run better on your computer. If you want to make that simcity runs better on your computer, you'll have to turn down visual things in the visual options menu. You can think of shutting down wave display, cloud display, turning down the amount of traffic displayed, and so on. Just take a look at the visual options menu in simcity, and you will see for yourself. Hope this helps!

Trouble with ATI X1900 (help!)
DaMaster_architect replied to toxicpiano's topic in General Off-Topic
When looking at your problems, toxicpiano, I think it might eventually be the power supply unit. Although it is 500W, what brand is it? A no-name 500W PSU performs less than an 400W Antec/Tagan/Enermax/ PSU. Although 450W is required, I bet 400W of a good brand will do. However, if you bought a cheap PSU, the possibility is that it aint strong enough. If you can tell me exactly what PSU you have, I can look it up for you -
I really can't wait for the HSR to be completed, it's really a Must Have for me! Is there anything I can do for you guys to help you out a bit? Reaction to mjig_dudy: I don't think freight should be able to travel on the HSR network. Why would anyone in SimCity let freight go that fast from A to B? Freight really doesn't have the complexity of region commuting, one of the things where the HSR will be really usefull for.

A: the best time is when your cat gets drunk. Q: How long would I be traveling to Proxima Centauri, if I would go by bike? -
I've got ferries which are highly overused, many times more than 10.000 people use the same ferry. isc9114, did you connect the ferries directly with roads? Just laying a road in front of a ferry station is not enough. You've got to drag the road into the ferry station, so the roads are connected with the roads inside the ferry station. Only then, the people can use the ferries. HTH

can you explain yourself a bit more? I don't quite understand you maybe a pic will do.

I agree with paperboy that the futuristic looks of the bridge fits to the high speed concept, but I don't care that much how a bridge looks like. As long as it can carry trains, its okay to me.

Although I don't use it that much, since the building actually kinda cheats, I really like the idea of dumping garbage in a black hole.

I just want to say that you are all doing a wonderfull and honourable job! This is one of the best mods I've ever seen. Keep on going like this! About the bridge: Awesome. It really fits to the high-speed theme. And also does the tunnel in my opinion. Great job, 3ddz! by the way, is there any chance that this mod will be included in the next release of the NAM? I truly hope so

I'm currently working on a city with lots of farms, and mass transit. It's quite a pity though to get all the sims in the trains, but it seems that it works. I have little pollution, and the monthly surplus which I get, I invest in education. I hope that once the population is smart enough so I can develop commercial zones, and high tech industry ofcourse. But until then, there's a loooong way to go... by the way, the mass transit I use are ferries, since I built my city on lots of canals. It works totally great!

vitruvius, you did awesome on those channels and the old troy! It really delightens me to see the way you turned the famous story of troy in a very catchy imaginative story of your own, with a georgeous layout! I am anxiously waiting for more updates

ooh, the nostalgy! How funny it is to see those old times (when I wasnt even member for long).

well, fact is, that if they would made it more realistic, the game would probably get less fun. Imagine a city half filled with parking lots.. no, thanks. Or an airport that takes up an entire city tile. No, thanks either :-P I like the way things are scaled right now. Okay, they might make the airports a bit larger. Because 200metres for a runway is simply impossible.

very nice, and inspirating down town! bravo!

most time spent in one day on a video game
DaMaster_architect replied to hyped_up_boy's topic in Gaming Talk
there was one weekend where I was playing SimCity 4, in the morning. It got dark, and suddenly my alarm rung. I found out that it was already morning, and I was playing until 7 AM, without even noticing. That weekend, I ended up playing more than 35 hours of simcity. But hey, it was a week after I had bought the game. Furthermore, I plan to get totally addictive at games once my new computer has arrived. The current one can barely handle computer games, and the new one will definitely. I really want to make up all those gaming hours I missed soo bad.. -
Great Zoning, No people...
DaMaster_architect replied to skaaater's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
when seeing your message, skaaater, the first thing I think of are demand busters. When a city grows, it eventually stops growing. It has reached its limit. You can raise this limit by building demand busters, like the ones KoolSim already told you of. The best demand buster for you is the flower garden. Also, a Minor Leage Stadium raises the limit significantly. Try if you can get it. -
Newbie - A question of playing style
DaMaster_architect replied to ckotchey's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
interesting question, ckotchey! I think I currently invested about 700 to 1000 hours in SimCity 4. Many people probably invested even more hours in the game. In all these hours, I developed about 7 or 8 succesfull regions (I put lots of effort in many regions, but they mostly failed). These regions have no more than 1.5 million inhabitants at most, although I like to play aggresively. I lay down a road network, like the one in Manhatten. Simple, though effective. I fill it with zones, build highways, schools, and other stuff, while the first buildings already start appearing. This all I do at cheetah speed. My main tactic is region play. When starting a new region, I first start some small residential/commercial cities, and some industrial cities, connected with each other. I develop them, they evolve, and eventually I start creating new cities. The overal demand rises signficantly doing so. In my current region, I managed to get my newest city to 30.000 population within two simyears. This is all because there is a ridiculous high demand in every city, no matter how poor it is. And no, I don't use any mods that positively effect demand. So my suggestion to you is: It takes a lot of time to get the hang of the game. If you put lots of effort in it, you will notice at some point that developing a city gets easier and easier. Ingame time is of no importance: It can take you like 30 years to get 10k population in your city, but also 5 simmonths. It's just your playing style, it doesn't depend on how good you are. Also, try to practise a lot with region play. Your cities will grow way faster if you link them with eachother, than if you develop each city individually. -
I was about to say too what peorth said: Isn't there a break in your power line? Maybe you accidentally demolished some power poles while demolishing your city.

in Holland, the dikes would have failed, and half the country would be undearneath the water. Holland would be specialised in building underwater cities, cities in lots of large spheres... under the water. The town where I live would be right at sea (it's now somewhere in the middle of the country). Lots of Maglev-trains would connect the dutch cities with each other, included the underwater cities. Ofcourse, Holland would be swallowed up by the EU by long, also Russia and Israel would be part of the EU. The EU would be known as a country that is very scientifically based, and making it's income from selling state-of-the-art technology. Also, we would be here, discussing at Simtropolis v. 6k what the world would be like in 2006, and what there should be in the second expansion pack of SimCity 17.
