I love SimCity 4's various quirks and antics, seriously. Anyway, everytime I've tried to build a farming city lately I keep getting nothing but the ugly Pedriana's Plant farm buildings regardless of farm size. I've tried different building styles, different farm sizes, and other such stuff and I still get only a load of Pedriana. The only thing I can think of that would affect this is my I-AG demand being shot through the roof. If I get lucky, MAYBE I'll get something other than Pedriana once in maybe 12 Pedrianas or so, but that's still lots and lots of Pedrianas. Is there anyway to delete/kick Pedriana completely out of my towns or, barring that, any way to make the other farm buildings like Jez Knight Acres appear? I don't have stocks in Pedriana, for crying out loud. >_>

Sorry to bother all of you again, but a slight error/technical game-side arrogance in the mayor car UDI mission is driving me crazy. I've been doing various UDI missions to pass the time a bit, and I've been trying to calm these riots by throwing money at them, but even after parking right next to the target and dumping 5k(correction) 10k worth of simoleans, I still need to hit escape and terminate the mission before the time limit because the mission won't detect it as succeeded. Am I missing something here? Money honestly isn't the issue as I'm making 3k per month (yay for residential blocks), but seeing these strike riots complaining about healthcare in a fully provided area is pretty stupid and painful to look at. Plus, I can't find a way to make them disperse.

It'd help if you played the game the way it was supposed to be, but barring that, maybe this (https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=3575) and this (https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=3576) will be of interest to you.

Pedriana's Plants and her monopoly
Dalewyn replied to Dalewyn's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I didn't realize this problem was an epidemic worthy of a mod. Thanks for the links, I'll try it out and edit this post later with the results. =3 EDIT: It worked. No Pedrianas in sight. =3! -
This is arguably the best (and most helpful!) topic I've read here yet, three cheers to frndofyaweh! I'll be sure to look into part 2 of this later down in the CJ section. ;D

While I'm at it: My schools are boycotting ice cream trucks. I've sat next to said school, drove around said school, and slammed into said school to no avail. Oh, and yes I did have that ice cream song blaring out my truck. I'm starting to wonder: Is this rigged? Tried the mission 5 times, not a single school bought ice cream. Nada, zilch, zero, the big O. They did sell me a hefty amount of -160 mayor rating for free though, wonder if I can make ice cream out of that.

Actually ran over the striking sims and held down the space bar for like a full 2 minutes until the mission ended and I lost, with nothing to show for it but a -10k simoleans in funds and strikers that won't go away. Did I mention -30 mayor ratings?

What is the largest Stage-8 Building footprint?
Dalewyn replied to BlkMarine's topic in SC4 Showcase
I believe the walking distance is factored into the commute time as, after all, walking is still a form of commuting to places close to your place of residence or station/stop of destination. I never really looked in-depth into it though, so I could be wrong. =X -
Salutations to all of you at Simtropolis. =O I've recently installed SimCity 4 and am loving it, about to head into region play. Anyway, the issue I'm bringing today are the reference tiles you see on the map ground that you can use for counting spaces. Now, here's what's bothering me: I can see the tiles just fine in all tutorial maps (the ones in Timbuktu) aside from the terraforming tutorial, but whenever I enter any other map (regardless of region) I don't see them. While this doesn't really get in the way of playing, it does make laying things like water pipes and roads out really troublesome. Is there any specific hotkey I need to press to make it appear? Or, for some odd reason, is SimCity 4 not showing the tiles so it can run smoothly (I'm on a Pentium III 933mhz, 512 megs ram, Windows 2000 SP4, ATI Radeon 7000 with Catalyst drivers). Help would be appreciated, and my apologies if this question is, for lack of better words, a bit nubbish. =|
