You know, believe it or not, last time I tried I was able to get SimTower running natively in Windows 7 64 bit. I have no clue how. And yet it still won't let me play Myst.

Is MrCinatit still active here? I'm sending him a PM but I noticed he hasn't been active since February.
-
Well, as I said, even if it is gone, I would still like to find out who it was who wrote it. It's been kind of bugging me for a while.

(I apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong place.) Years ago I read a city journal here, I believe the title was something like "Stranded". It was fairly long and very well written, with various plotlines and characters. The basic plot involved the thousands of castaways of a spacecraft which somehow became teleported to a planet in another galaxy via a wormhole or something of that sort. (the science was pretty soft) It began with the background stories of all the main characters (of which there were quite a few) before going into the actual plot. Anyway, it first follows the largest group of survivors as they establish a colony, which sends out a team of explorers who find the remenants of a civilization, occasionally cutting to the happenings of the home colony, other colonies, past inhabitants of the civilization, and somehow (as I said, it was long) it all comes back together in a conclusion which reveals the ancient civilization as being a part of the empire of Earth, and explores that in some depth. Anyway, that was a rather long summary, but does anyone else remember this city journal, which I realize may be long gone now, or know who wrote it?

Blender (http://www.blender.org/) is free, but then again the learning curve is like Normandy on D-Day. (okay, I stole that metaphor)

Awesome. So now there's nothing to prevent me from wanting to buy the game. (Hint: DRM doesn't stop pirates, it only stops potential buyers.) Great to see a company that actually listens to their customers about DRM. Can't wait till it's out.

Buildings would randomly become abandoned and the whole city always ended up looking freshly nuked since the "abandoned" buildings looked hardly different from the rubble they ended up as.

I don't think there will never be a Mac version, but it probably won't be released until after the PC version.
-
It definitely won't be released for PC. It's SimCity for Wii, and way too similar to SimCity 3000 to be profitably sold on the PC. If I get a Wii I'll definitely buy it though.
-
They already mentioned that it wouldn't be available for Mac because it would be too expensive to develop for more than one platform. Considering how bad console ports of simulation games are, it is almost positive that they won't be releasing it for anything but the PC.
-
All of the new Macs can dual boot Windows, and an OEM copy of Vista Basic or XP Home is like 80 bucks, a lot compared to a typical game, but considering the price difference between PC and Mac games, you'll be saving a lot more than that in your next few game purchases.

Alright, I'll admit I know almost nothing about Steam. However, I really just want the classic game+CD/DVD+registration code and have that be all of it.
-
It should have no DRM whatsoever, I know Steam has decent feedback, but I really think that DRM in any form is evil. So much as I want to play Spore, I simply will not buy it until they dump the DRM completely. I am anticipating CXL more than any other game right now, but will not buy it if they give it DRM. I just don't want it on my computer, that kind of software is inherently viral. It also shows mistrust in completely legitimate customers. I don't want my usage restricted, I want to OWN a game. Also, I hope that the developers have learned from the Spore fiasco. DRM does more harm than good. ALWAYS. Unless you're trying to lose customers, there is no reason to put DRM on a game. What, do you think it will actually PREVENT piracy? HA! For your information, because of SecuROM, Spore is now the most pirated game of all time. I guess it makes sense for operating systems, but absolutely not games. DRM should be abolished.

The SimCity 5 Thread (Formerly "Is SimCity 5 Ever Coming Out?").

So what if it's fake? I'm just going to imagine those screenshots are real, because they're total eye candy. Kudos to the faker. -
No. Just no. First of all, even if that could happen, it would destroy the entire world, and not just a city. Also, the chances of that happening are so slim it's not even worth making a video game disaster about it. The only reason anyone acknowledges that it could happen, is that they're quantum physicists, and nothings impossible on that scale. But think about how long the earth has been around bombarded by cosmic rays thousands of times more powerful than any particle accelerator. CERN black hole, strange matter blob, etc., just not gonna happen.
