OMG guys look at this trailer. I think its appropriate for Simtropolis to start following this game because its about building. I am so excited about this MMO after seeing it. http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/09/lego-universe-trailer-looks-unexpectedly-thrilling Here are some dev's talking about the game. I used to play lego all the time as a kid, the memories

I understand MC still needs revenue. I will gladly buy Gems to keep Mc giving us updates. So MC please get us those gems, like airport, trains, ETC. This isnt the end. I want this game to be successful. The community does as well.

I first post this post in the Cities XL on Steam for $20, so admins if you see fit to delete the post then go for it, It just turned into something different for me and went away from the origional topic, so I thought I would post it here instead. If this has already been spoken about then I further apologize for rehashing an old topic. Right now the game needs lots of improvements. If I knew that the dev's had some sort of timeline and what they were working on next to improve the game, I would probably get it now. The thing that worries me the most is the unknown. I have lost some confidence in MC. The BUS addition looks great. But what is next? To me and most of the playerbase I think transportation patch ahead of any GEMS would be the most important addition to the game. We need more functionalities. If I knew what they were working on, what I had to look forward to, I would get the game. The unknown for me is, whats next? and how long must I be subscribed to the game before the features I want come? Once the features are here, I know I am hooked to the game. Problem is, those features arent in the game yet. I have no real incentive to purchase the game even at $20. I just dont know if my wishlist of additions are being worked on. I dont want MC to feel I am bashing the game. I know there is plenty of that going around. Just giving my constructive critism, Believe me..I want to buy the game...but I know MC will only listen to $. That is my way of voting for what I want in the game. I vote with my $. When they give me what I want, I will gladly surrender my wallet to them. MC has to listen to us and speed up those patches. I want to buy the game..but I want to see a schedule and what they are working on. The communications issue with MC must be fix'd. Why would I vote for the candidate who wouldnt be upfront with me? Why give my money to MC if I dont know what they have planned? Please MC, work on communications, thats your #1 issue. I recommend: 1.MC hold weekly Q&A's like many game developers are doing in MMO's being developed, and MMO's completed. 2.A link on there website with a schedule of planned patches and what they are working on. 3. A twitter account so we can follow you guys more closely. (oh and just FYI, dont try to sell us anything on twitter, use it as a communications tool to let us in, I immediately unfollow anyone who is professional on twitter and the ONLY time he posts is to post what hes going to sell and not what he thinks about an issue. The most successful twitters for companies are those that reach out to the community, not try to dupe em.) 4.A feed that links whatever the developers answered from the community forums so that we can all see what you guys are commenting on at the mainhub at CitiesXL website. I know the developers are all over many fansites answering questions. 5. Get on Youtube and reach out to the community telling them what you guys are working on. Many up and coming MMO developers are doing this. Thats all I can think of right now. MC Developers I can link hyperlinks to each of these list of other game developers who have used all these strategies to reach out to the community. Lets face it, the community is demoralized but they can be won back. Do some things to show your reaching us to us, not by trying to sell us the current version of the game, but by what your going to be adding to the game and when we can expect it. Your playerbase arent children, we are adults who see the writing on the wall. Treat us seriously instead of giving us a pat on the back saying let us handle it like your the all knowing wise adult. Just be frank with us and the community will appreciate it. So guys, list what you think MC could do to better communicate with us. To let us know what they are doing. Not to fight with them how to improve the game, just on how to improve communications between us and them.

Cities XL Communications Issues and Improvements
SimCityFanatic replied to SimCityFanatic's topic in Cities XXL
why should I go digging for this treasure of information? Wouldnt it be better if MC made this information more accessible? -
its hit my price target actually. I'll be buying it on steam. I wrote the first part of my post 8 hours ago..I am now editing it. After thinking about it deeply, I have decided to not get CitiesXL. I am not saying the game is bad. I would pay for CitiesXL @ $40 if I knew where the game was going. Right now I see lots of improvements that the game badly needs. If I knew that the dev's had some sort of timeline and what they were working on next to improve the game, I would probably get it now. The thing that worries me the most is the unknown. I have lost some confidence in MC. The Bus addition looks great. But what is next? When they give me what I want, I will gladly surrender my wallet to them. MC has to listen to us and speed up those patches. If it was the community, the players would work on there additions night and day until it was done. Thats what I like about community modders, they listen to us for the love of the game. MC dev's will get patches out when they are done after vacation, after lunch, after the weekend, after the holidays, after everything else in there schedule is done. Anyways sorry for sidetracking there, I want to buy the game..but I want to see a schedule and what they are working on. The communications issue with MC must be fix'd. Why would I vote for the candidate who wouldnt be upfront with me? Why give my money to MC if I dont know what they have planned? Please MC, work on communications, thats your #1 issue. you guys really need to stop bashing the game over every small thing. I always thought the CURVED suspension bridges should not have been around. Its impossible to create a curved suspension birdge for use by trucks and cars (currently) but that was always a option. If you wanted goofy looking curved suspension bridges in your city then go for it. This doesnt bother me since they arent really feasible in the real world to begin with.

is there any way to increase the ambient lighting effect? Its like looking at white dots in a black background. Shouldnt the light be more spread apart? More brighter? Not like brighter dots, but the ambient brightness. I am not sure if I am wording it right. Anyone else notice this? Help me out explaining it better. The buildings arent bright enough as well. City Life I think had better lighting effects. I hope the dev's look into the night lights effects more. Somebody take video and put it on youtube so I can better tell if it needs improvement. So far it does need more improvement, tweeking

Why was my post removed? I hope that MC devs read it so they could IMPROVE the game. I wasnt bashing it. If its a downtown city area, with lots of tall buildings, the streets and sidewalks should be crowded with people. At night as well. It was an observation I made from the pic that I believe should be corrected. I was not bashing the game.

Streetlights, headlights, and xmas lights. See the news on CXL.com

I saw the picture, I hope they brighten up the cities at night. I want to know my city is alive at night. -
if they drop the price on STEAM, I will get it.

Sigh this will only give more ammo to the ones who dislike the game. As for me, I was planning on getting PO when I got the game after they implemented transports into the game. I still plan on trying out online, but instead of the 3 month I will go for the 2 month since thats around the old price. I dont like the price hike, but they have servers to run and bills to pay while completing the game. Its reality people. They are a small gaming company, not like Activision and Bliz. MC is off to a rough start, I just hope they realize its better to build a good product then line there own pockets with money and pay raises. Alot of companies tend to do that and forget the product. Build the product then get lots of subscribers to get your porshe. Dont raise subscriptions now to get your porshe with a incomplete game.

can someone record and put it on youtube so we can see them in action?

deleted my own posts as to not be the hijacker. No arguments please

what is a bendy bus? Also will we be able to deploy multiple lines from that bus depot? So I dont have so many hubs in one area? Where I live, we have the main hub, where all the lines converge, or disperse from.

This looks really good. Since the game came out, I have been on the sidelines. I didnt buy it, I have been waiting to see what MC would do. I also didnt bash the game or pump it, since I know they would be working to make the initial version much better. So far I like what they seem to be doing. I want to see MC work on more features like customizable airports and subway transportation. So far I am impressed by this Bus feature addition. Hopefully they let us name the lines. That would be great. I like what they are doing so far, not convinced as to buy it yet, but its in the right direction. If I keep seeing them moving in the right direction, then I will probably buy it and subscribe online.

I will not be buying CitiesXL on its release date. In my opinoin the game is coming out incomplete. Ive noticed the recent trend for some games is to make a incomplete game, then complete it with patches. Its worse in the MMO world. The game comes out incomplete, then takes many months for new patches to come out to complete the game. I consider transportations a vital part of the game. Until Isee transportations in the MMO I will stay on the sidelines. I do think the game has potential if the developers decide to listen to the player base. They can improve upon it. I do feel personally betrayed by MC seeing that they didnt really listen to us on the forums, when we were given the impression that our advice would have been taken seriously. With the game and how it is right now...I dont think they took our advice seriously. It seems more like a marketing gimmick when I look back on it. I was one of the first to discover CitiesXL after EA announced that SCS flop. I will not put judgement on MC. They are trying to make a successful game. I am the consumer and when I see what I want in the game I will then subscribe. I am in no rush. It may take a few months before the features I want come out. I can wait. I do hope MC makes more explanatory videos on the new features. For crying out loud, this is the age of YOUTUBE. Learn to make longer more indepth videos. I wont buy an Airport pack if all I see is a runway and no explanations.

Oh hey buddy! Im SimCityFanatic Hehe bet you never thought you would see the guy who took the name you wanted first I agree with you btw

Will you subscribe to the "planet offer" thing?
SimCityFanatic replied to Soviet779's topic in Cities XXL
Some of you who think that online should be free live in a dream world. If you understand the technical aspect of hosting a online world then you would not be complaining. How bout you read everything about the game before you come out saying NO, I am never paying online. I want to be part of a world where those ships leaving my harbor is going to someone elses city. Where that plane is leaving is going to another city built by a player. Where we can have online olympics that will bring lots of revenue to your city and force u to build your city infrastructure to meet the demand of the influx of people coming in to meet the demand of the olympics. I want to be part of the world where I can make deals and the city is ever changing. Where policies I make can effect another player. Where my resouces is needed by another player. I want to be part of a world where a highway I build becomes a main corridor in the nation where other cities use it to get throu my city to get to another nation. Where my rail system is part of a national grid, built upon in other cities to link to my city. I want to be part of a world where a corporation formed in my city becomes a huge multinational corporation. Where my citizens can go to someone elses city for a ski resort vacation. Making that guys city do well. This is the game I have always wanted. This is gonna be great. have fun in SC4 or SCS. I am moving forward. Kthxbye -
After your pay for the expansion packs. The game $50 Airports and Seaports $30 Options to customise and edit land $20 More Disasters $20 More Transit bring back trains, monorails $20 Highways and streets would be great $20 A bigger map and a larger population $20 You see EA didnt screw you guys over with putting out a horrible game. Its an incomplete game. All you have to do is buy the expansion packs to finish the game. Then you will be screwed spending an exra $100 for free features. EA isnt dumb. They are about business. This is EA's tactic get used to it.

As long as the developers listen to us I see no reason not to. Its great to know my opinoins and the communities overall experience is being listened to influencing the building of this game.

How to get what you want out of EA and Monte Cristo
SimCityFanatic posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Well I have been playing SimCity since I started middle school. I remember the very first SimCity. Wow.....just wow..... Anyways back to RL and away from my daydreaming. Ok Back to topic. How do you get EA and Monte Cristo to give you every wish you wanted in the game? I have your answer! This answer especially goes for the site administrators on this website that the developers of the games invite to represent the community. Just ask them this. How modular is the game?>> The Half life franchise /Valve Engine/Steam would not be around if it was not for the Half Life engine being highly modular. Counterstrike the #1 FPS game in the world would not be around if it wasn’t for the half life engine being so modular. Counterstrike was created by players of HL. Not by any of the developers. (Later on the creators went to work with valve.) We all know how we want our game to be. Let us say you want your highway system a different way. Do it yourself. Make sure the developers make it so we can mod or someone in the community can mod it the way you would like it. You want realistic financials in your city? Because I know it costs billions of dollars to make a subway system let the financials be modular. This not only serves the community in keeping it happy. But even more importantly in what developers want. A GAME WITH AN ACTIVE COMMUNITY insuring that the game keeps on selling in the stores. The developers do not have to spend extra money updating the game because well the players are doing it THEMSELVES. >> I have read all the concepts from this thread and I love most of them. >> https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=367&threadid=89591&highlight_key=y&keyword1=wishlist>> We should be able to do these tasks ourselves. Instead of wishing. I ask the site administrators that when EA or Monte Cristo invites u to their studios that you ask them this and tell them the benefits of having the community being able to mod the city concepts ourselves. >> This also helps the developers in another way. They can keep the game simplified for the mass numbers of players they are looking for. Then the players themselves can customize the game even more to make it more complicated for the other players that become addicted to the game and want even more out of the game that the company is not itself willing to put up resources to get these new ideas accomplished with. Another side effect to this is that the fan base will grow bigger and bigger. It is up to which company will actually be willing to embrace this concept more. I know the company that embraces this concept the most will in the end be the more successful company. >> The concept of modular game has already been proven in the half life concept. Now half life is one of the most successful profitable series. And the gamers can mod the game anyway they want. Right now we are very limited in what we can do in terms of modding SimCity. >> I plan on sending this to EA and Monte Cristo as well as any other developers who are thinking of developing a city simulation game. If other players can help me send this out it will be great. But its up to the site admins who get invited to represent us to ask these questions. If they chose to. BTW long time reader. Finally registered to get this idea out. -
How to get what you want out of EA and Monte Cristo
SimCityFanatic replied to SimCityFanatic's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Not as much as open source but give us the ability to modify it instead of just putting new buildings in but being able to change the system to a certain degree. In any case it looks like this has been talked about before just wanted to have the representatives of the community to get this idea. -
How to get what you want out of EA and Monte Cristo
SimCityFanatic replied to SimCityFanatic's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
It doesnt matter if they do or dont. I deal with financials and EA has been doing horribly year over year. I get my fun knowing their sales go down and they dont know why. If they wont embrace this then some other company will and profits for that company will go up. Just how the world goes round. Take advantage of the situation if someone else wont.
