Nice to see a great map of my hometown. I've made many attempts, but failed miserably on most of them.
  2. I've seen a few people mention the above sea level water, and this is something I would definitely like to see improved. I miss the difference between fresh and salt water, and the added water options (no pumps on the ocean, desalinization plants, etc). One of my biggest gripes in trying to make custom regions from topo data was that there was no way to adjust for the elevation drops. I tended to try to do inland areas, and wanted them fairly large, but since water was only available at 'sea level' a drop of sever meters across a region would mean that my rivers were either in deep canyons or dried up at one one end or spilling over their banks at the other. If there were a way to make the water take into account elevation differences you could have rivers that 'flowed', with the possibility of damming, more realistic flooding, possibly bank erosion and channel migration over time. Which segues into my desire to see the grid go. If Maxis can make a game which can figure out how a creature should move based on the parts it has it can figure out how to make a game that has curved roads and non-rectangular lots. I've liked a lot of the transit suggestions made. More control over roads, and more variety would be great. 3-levels of highway overpass crossing at different angles... delicious
