Mississippi = 91 meters elevation. Main Ditch (the eastern river) = 100 meters elevation. 9 meters elevation change in about 5 km (3 miles). Pretty flat. Between Main Ditch and the highest eastern point (0.5 km or 0.3 mi away) +130 meters elevation change. Suddenly mountains.

Well, I'm so bored by the flat maps that I tend to exagerate with the mountainous areas. Open the .jpg in Paint and repaint with RGB 90 the areas where you want more flat land. 10x for comments and rating. Happy building!
