This is a HUGE sim city. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=gQlA0zHhlEo Metropolis has well over 1 million inhabitants. There are 600,000 commercial jobs and 60,000 high tech Industry jobs. The city has a fully functional elevated highway system that is supported by a complex road, bus and subway system. The city is powered by 3 hyrdrogen power plants and 7 large water pumps. The video is to show a great city can be achieved without using cheats or other enhancers.

i like that transport mod. i might use it in the next video.

Place bus stations and subway stations beside each other. Connecting mass transit reduces traffic on your roads. Concentrate the subway in the commercial areas and high density residencial.

There is alot of stuff in my tutorial that the game doesn't tell you or explain properly. Bits like connecting your mass transit together.

Thankyou. This is not necesarily the best way to build a city, but it works for me.

Which one do you prefer? Monorail is faster and cheaper than subway, however you sacrifice land area that could otherwise be populated by sims. Subway on the otherhand is more expensive, but you can gain revenues from the populated land above. I liek subways better.

I never used any cheats/mods. I had highways in the surrounding cities which I brought into this cities. It was only later in the cities like I connected all the highways up with clover highways. Accumulating 1,100,000 sims takes along time and by that time I had plenty of funds to build it. This whole region was planned specifically for me to build this mega city. I didn't use any mods to help me build this. If me showing the demand bar would prove this to you I would be very happy to make another video.

Sometimes minimising this game crashes it. It isn't the most stable game to play. Only minimise if it's urgent.

Subway is expensive but you can gain far more revenues when bug business build above. Monorail is fast......but it's only really good for taking commuters long distance. the stations are too expensive to mass build. Too expensive as in the costs out weight the gains.

try building an elevated highway.

Is it possible to build a mega city...eg 300+ with only high tech industry. Map size medium.

The thing about that is your buildings will be grainy and you will never 100% occupy the building. It's also a false economy. Even though no problems appear to be present, your city would be more efficient if the workers worked at the correct level.
