  1. iran pres speaks...

Hanson784 - oh yeah, can't wait for the Daily Show. There's a few things that bugs my bum about this. I'll just start the stream... I think it's bold of this man to enter this country a spew the same rhetoric. The dude's obviously not the brightest man in the world. But neither is Bush, so the clash is resounding. It's absurd to see how the network news plays into the propaganda machine. CNN had anchors saying the same things about this man that they said about Bush. Opinion polls may reflect differently in the coming months. Fox News parades around with their usual crass demeanor and called the intellectuals of Columbia names like children in after school care. All of it just spins a web of hate and it's starting to make sense why there's a war in Iraq - because a war with Iran couldn't of been fronted by just bases in Kuwait. sigh. I hear Argentina's nice Please, nobody respond to this ramble of mine. I won't read it.

Wow, did y'all see the president of Iran speak. Crazy stuff. I'm still waiting for xbox to unleash Fable 3. Frankly, couldn't care less about Halo.
  3. Artificial Life

I've been creating life from scratch in the filthy mop i call my hair since puberty. Little green beings called the Numnorts. Highly intelligent things that fight off Gnats and Lice.
  4. ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer

A - Same diff as 3 for the price of 3. Q - Where did all the cowboys go?
  5. Retro-SimCity Buildings

Howdy folks... I've begun a long and tedious process of reviving buildings from SimCity 2000 and 3000 for use in SC4. Well, pretty easy for the most part, but I'm a busy man and haven't much time for fun. So, the process will take some time. But I was curious if anyone knew of any legal issues there might be if I choose to upload these BATS to the STEX. ya know, cuz they're property of maxis and all. If there is, then I'll just keep them all to myself... build a city beeming with Arcologies like the days of old. If there ain't, then cool. Stay tuned. Any advice on this process would also be appreciated.
  6. Retro-SimCity Buildings

Cool beans... I'll get crackin' and maybe have something up soon.
  7. Which Sci-Fi Movie Suits You?

Most Sci-fi good guys are wimps, I've got a complex, so i'll go with a villain ... HAL-9000 ...the ultimate sci-fi bad guy... nothing more evil than a digital control freak. Or maybe, leaning toward the light, Riddick.
  8. ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer

A - take a leak. Come on TopCliff, you can do better than DiVinci riddles. I'm surprised that nobody has answered this one yet. Q - Ain't SimCity fans supposed to be smarter than the average gamer?
  9. Official Mapping Community Requests

I think the central Texas corridor (Austin to San Antonio) would be cool. Mainly because it's my turf... But most SC4 maps I've seen of the area are terribly inaccurate. Lots of missing rivers in several maps. And I think it'd be cool to have the Balcones Escarpment really pronounced and the Devil's Backbone lending into the Hill Country. Anyway, I doubt this little suggestion will be feed. Anyone should feel free to PM me if they either are working on such a map or wanting some assistance. I'm rather proficient in photoshop.
  10. Problem with NAM

chaos reigns within reflect, repent, and reboot order shall return
  11. Best of Super Mario

so, I just beat all 96 levels to Super Mario World for the SNES. Call me a dork, but at age 25 - I've never owned a console and thus, never had the resource to play that silly game all the way through. Now, I've done that - and can supposedly move on with my life. Mario has got to be the longest running franchise in video game history (sure, let's include the Donkey Kong Arcade). A friend rented Super Paper Mario for the Wii, and although it's fun - it's incredibly easy. But it's nice to see that happy plumber jumping around. Just curious to see what y'all think the best Super Mario Game of all time is. Super Mario World for the SNES is my vote - second would have to be Mario Kart for N64 or Sushine on th cube or the 3rd game for the NES. WarioWare is just nuts, but has to be mentioned -honorably. Anywho, post your thoughts...
  12. Okay people. I've searched everywhere, read everything. All I want are those silly avenue roundabout plugins. Do I need them for my city? - oh yes, I do - don't you? I know someone here's going to say something obvious and make me feel like a nooob. You got it, you win. just a link, that's all I ask. Just let me in on the beauty that is Avenue Roundabouts. They look like so much fun. Going in circles and all. beautiful, BEAUTIFUL intersections of joyous wonder. Why have I not been shown the path of Righteousness? Someone out there, please, I beg you to show me the way to enlightenment.
  13. Anvenue Roundabout Plugins

Well thanks... but I use a power Mac... executable files don't run for me. Sure, I've tried File juicer, that thing never worked. I fear all is lost. - sigh -
  14. Simtropolis Podcast - Episode 5

A for effort. Try some editing, the first 10 minutes should of been dumped, and have at least a few planned talking points. But hey, glad you guys are having fun with it. Keep your day jobs, broadcast radio's a long way. Keep it up, most of us will listen.
  15. The monolith

Dude, I love it - nobody here has ever created anything this cool. I now will make a city dedicated to that movie, or maybe all of Kubrick's flicks. Thanks for the inspiration. Cheers! you get 10 stars and 2 thumbs!!!
  16. North American Heat wave

Central Texas has been a rain forest for the past month. Daily rainstorms were getting pretty dangerous. Maybe now I can get my tan workin'.
  17. Balloons. Lawn chair. Let's fly!

I think someone earned a Darwin Award a while back for the same stunt.
  18. Airport Theory

Currently for me, one city neighboring an airport has an outrageous Commercial demand - more than Residential. We all know how rare that is. So, I think airports can effect the other parts region significantly. Your shuttle lots, I bet, will only effect the city they're built in. But I don't have too much use for lots, seeing how most are expandable files and I'm using a Mac. So, don't go by my word.
  19. Is this demand normal?

Darobat: First off, watch your double posts - just edit the message next time (that's just friendly advice) About your city... Just because the demand is there, it doesn't mean Sims will build where you've zoned. SC4 takes several aspects into account when sims develop. One, desirability: make sure you zoned somewhere CO
  20. Help making regions

How are all of you Mac users pressing an ALT button? Do we mean apple? (edit) oh... dur
  21. EL vs. Monorail

My 2 cents say monorail looks neat. Zelgadis makes the most solid points, as usual, and I'll side with him. I personally only use elevated rail when the aesthetics of my city call for it. It's rare - subways are much more efficient and are much easier to build in tight areas. LBarr2910: if you want more use out of your transit networks, I got three words for ya: develop, develop, develop. Plop a big ole 100 squares of zones around your stations and they'll be used. Other factors are to be considered, of coarse - of the most obvious: where the track leads... too nowhere? - then, no use. to jobs? - it'll be used quicker than a *******i'll just censor myself here****... Maybe you just need to wait, your Sims will eventually have no choice.
  22. So, I was enjoying my pre-work ritual today of playing SC4 and was called a donkey by the maintenance guy. What a lame insult. Reason for the name-calling was for a garbage deal I never made. This happened in two neighboring cities, one a tiny beach community and the other a high-risin' metroplex. Both are sans industrial zones and likewise with garbage and power utilities - those are dedicated to 2 other neighboring cities. Is there a glitch surfacing here? ... or is this just part of the game; as if some genegade counselman decided to make deal behind my back. Anyway, I guess it's nothing serious - I want to know if anyone else has been call a donkey.
  23. ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer

A - It's classified, mind your Fox news team. Q - Will all the fly honnies in da house say "HEY"?
  24. For many of you seasoned professionals, the following may sound pretty obvious. But some of my fellow newbies out there might appreciate these tricks. Let me tell y'all what had originally stumped me before I had this recent enlightenment in SimCity's gameplay. I've been attempting to build a true-to-life metroplex on the timbukto region with certain cities excelling where the rest could not. The farming communities, tourist traps, industrial flith-pots all grow very easily for me. But when I attempted to build a massive metropolitan city, my simoleon reserve began to empty. I was loosing almost 9,000 a month because of the high density zones and the demanding transit system. I couldn't spend without going bankrupt. I had no choice, I became addicted to the very famous "WeaknessPays" cheat. This is a brilliant design by Maxis, btw - give them just a little. Nothing like the "I am weak" cheat in 3000 and 2000's "show me the money" - that worked great because the treasury updated annually. This new monthly drop in cash threw me off - guess I should of read the manual. I was becoming an example to the saying; "give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day." "WeaknessPays" became a pain and didn't fulfill the needs of my expensive city. When I discovered his place (i.e. Simtropolis) - I discovered magical things like cheat clients and mods like the Cash Park. And naturally, after wasting so much time on these gimics - that I still can't seem to get working - I decided to play the game. Novel idea, huh? I created 3 new smaller towns surrounding one corner of my massive metroplex city - and provided them with no utilities. No power, no water, no garbage, nada. Connected pipes, powerlines and roads to the larger city; in which I took out a fat loan and built all the necessary utility buildings right on the edge and incidentally far away from the residential and commercial districts. After one month, all 3 towns needed my services. This boosted my cashflow to 20,000 + a month (after expenses, including the loan payments). Now, I can afford a better subway system and zone bigger and richer res and comm districts - all those beautiful dreams of mine. Sure, the other 3 towns will suffer, but every big city needs a neighboring slum. And I setup clever things like taking trash from one city, putting it into an incinerator and selling the power to another. I've kept all of these utilities away from my sims, so my growing city doesn't become dependent on those money makers - except the landfill (for overflow) is kinda unavoidable. Soon enough, when I determine that the commerce alone is able to pull the bulk of this city - I'll kill the connections and develop the bordering towns to be a little more independent. So, fellow newbies, don't be led into the darkness of cheats and mods. Just play the game as the creators had intended. "Teach a man to fish, and he'll eat for a lifetime."
