Make sure you download all the dependancies listed for the building or lot. They are usually provided in the description for it on the exchange (like the STEX or LEX), or in the readme (if one is provided). Also make sure that you have both SC4 and Rush Hour, or SC4 Deluxe. They won't work on a vanilla SimCity 4 install.

Digital TV Switch delayed. But not for a 2nd time
TV-VCR replied to Easy Bakes's topic in Current Events

I can't believe people fall for that shindig.quote> Worse, a lot of stations I know of were actually advertising they were "switching to HDTV" (in the "Hey! If you get a 'DTV box' you'll be getting free HDTV!" sense) They're either amateurish, ignorant, or clever. -

Heading to Sweden in 2011? This is what you'll probably see on the way there. Svenska Kraftnat (an electrical company there) has greenlit it. They're essentially highly-artistic pylons.

find some new SERIAL Key in ea.simcity.com
TV-VCR replied to Ledah2445's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Originally posted by: Random_ben7 Did you type it in correctly? Is your game second hand?quote> This. Also, why do you want to register there anyway? If you're looking for tools and patches, they're all available at 3rd party sites. Not to mention the BBS and exchange there are pretty worthless... -
Ok, first, make sure everything is unpacked. Now, go through your plugins folder and make absolutely sure all water mods are removed. Including ones that may have come with terrain mods, other packs, etc. all of them. And check twice. Make sure you look in both plugins folders (the one in program files and in documents) just in case. Hopefully you can get your problem solved.

Problem with simgoober's super center 1 and 2
TV-VCR replied to skyscraperC3's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
There is no ploppable version, however, directly from the readmes for both lots: Simply zone a large, 18x7 commercial area, and if you can support it, it will grow! There is also an 18x6 version; this size zone will work as well, though it has a tendency to break down into smaller zones for other sized lots. It works for both lots. -
Make sure the color depth (quality) in SC4 is set to 32bit, not 16bit. Also, do you have SC4 set to software or hardware rendering? Edit: What about the color depth in windows? Nevermind, glad you got it fixed.

I've decided to try my hand at BATting, while learning 3ds Max in the process (I got tired of seeing it's case collecting dust on the shelf). Todd (simhottody) has volunteered to help me out in the process (and so far a great deal, I must say). Hopefully I can get some extra advice and tips from this thread... well, it's all downhill from here, folks! This is the building being modeled: I've actually been in there before (the food is really good, that I can say ). Click for full view: It will likely be a 2x1 W2W. If schedule allots, tomorrow I might see if I can drive over there with my camera and get some good photos of it (and if the staff is willing, get some measurements too, although I doubt it).

Just put the files inside the .zip into SC4's plugin directory. PS: If you want to add something or change something in your previous message, just use the edit button.

beebs: Yes it is. And it's good! nofunk: Thanks! todd: I got the west overhang done, and I'm working on the diagonal one. Also, when you get back on MSN, I have a bunch of photos for you to gander at! And measurements!

I thought it was a tad odd coming from a men's fashion magazine, but here's a good story on it.

Man, this is coming together to be a really nasty (in a good way) Freedom tower, certainly the most realistic I've seen so far. I imagine in the end you'll brighten it up a little, and layer a reflection over the glass? To be blunt, it's a wee bit dark.
-
Looking great actually! A few tips, I think the the textures should have some more contrast to them, and you should darken the brick texture. I also think that the base of the building should be extended and made bigger, mainly the first story.

Originally posted by: aky EDIT : it works. Just needed to enter the city and to save.quote> Was about to say you'd have to re-enter the cities and save again to update their thumbnails in th region. Originally posted by: aky But is it impossible to fix ? I really enjoy playing fullscreen in 1920*1200 quote> I wouldn't sweat it. If you want a screenshot for say, a CJ, you could lower the resolution, then go and update all the city's thumbnails by saving... though that could easily blow a hole in your day, if you have a big region.

Unfortunately there is no "sandbox mod" like you are talking about. All I can suggest is getting a money mod (i.e. one that lets you start out with more money when you start a city, and maybe also one that gives you more money over time), playing on easy mode, and using a combination of both growing and plopping. PS: Your english is fine.

Lower the resolution that SC4 is running at. This is a known bug.

Stop hating on something just because of how other people are using it... use it in your own preferred way, make the best out of it. But yeah... https://twitter.com/velcrosnap

If you're willing to do a little work, you could download AutoHotkey, and create a script that automatically extracts the zip files to a custom folder in the system, searches for an installer, and if it finds ones, runs it, or if there's no installer, looks for certain file formats such as .dat, .SC4Lot, .SC4Desc, .SC4Model, and move them into the plugins folder. It shouldn't take too long to make the script, and after that, every time you've finished a downloading spree, you could just run it and be done with it. There are still a few downsides though, obviously. Some installers (such as ones made by newer users) have the wrong path set (or something among those lines). Not to mention, say there was a building with both a residential and commerical version included, and you only wanted the commercial version... well guess what...

SC4 deluxe, Wine 1.1.23, and Ubuntu Jaunty x64

SC4 deluxe, Wine 1.1.23, and Ubuntu Jaunty x64
TV-VCR replied to Citymaster13's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Didn't see anything unusual in the terminal output there. It sounds like something (or some things) in your addons folder might be causing this mess, with you remarking that with just the NAM, CAM and RHW installed, you don't encounter these problems. Try removing other more "hardcore" mods such as terrain mods, ones that significantly change gameplay, cheat dlls, etc. and if that doesn't lead you anywhere, just go through the basic identifying-a-faulty-plugin procedure. Have you tried running it without forced opengl (the -dpengl command)? Have you also tried other commands such as -directx or -d:software? Just a shot in the dark, and I doubt it, but if you're using a no-cd... well you know... remove it. Try removing the CPU restriction, just for kicks. Hey, you never know... Try running it in a virtual desktop. I have to admit I'm rather rusty with linux, I went cold turkey on it a long time ago after I couldn't get any distro to play nice with my sound card. -
Elektric and Water cheat problem...

Just save, leave the city, and come back.
