Interesting ideas. I'd like some developer input in this thread. I doubt this game will play this intellectually but I ideally I would like to have both options. It would vary gameplay and increase the replay value of the game.

I think the key to success for Cities XL is scope. I mean they changed the title from Cities Unlimited to Cities XL, either name suggests size. And I think this will be the key to success. I've seen City Life and City Life 2008, great looking games but they don't seem to have a sense of size yet. Not to the extent of Sim City 4 at least, which was massive. And its not just about being able to have large plots of land. It's about size, variety and realism. From what I've seen of the videos, it looks great, and I hope they take this game into super realism and away from they weir social building aspect of Sim City Societies. And the city does not always have to be big, I mean I like building small towns too. But there are so many small details in towns, its not just building a scaled down city. There's a lot more to it than that. There are a lot of other details that would make this game fantastic. Too many small unrelated things that I think would be good. But I think the scope is the most important. And I think the Simtropolis community would enjoy that.

Is Simutrans any fun?

Has anyone played those two games? I saw them on wikipedia. I found them intriguing, any good? I would like to find out more before downloading.

SC4 was great. It was just a bit harder than SC3000, you really had to dig deep to get SC4 to its potential.

But the gameplay and depth of the game is completely different. Sim City more or less has no story, so the depth of the story goes to GTA, but as for gameplay, you really have to think for Sim City. After I got used to San Andreas for the first few missions, the game got really easy.

I got to visit that place during the holidays. That's awesome. I didn't even realize it.

Okay, so I've got this architectural project that I think I should start on. Does anyone have pics of Constantinople or rather Istanbul's walls? I've got these pics, just wondering if anyone has personal pics. Thanks.

Thanks guys, I got a lot of insight from what you've posted. I think I'll do fine on my project now.

The market is upscale upper middle class yuppie types. For couples. And the theme is love, you know for Valentine's Day. By the way, how many floors in an average condo? Actually, a range of floors would also be nice.

What else do condos offer? What about stuff like size? How are rooms divided, are condos open concept?

Alright, so I haven't been on in a while mostly due to school. But now I'm here because of school. I have a project involving architectural design. I have to do a city block or an condominium complex in Rio de Janeiro. I've lived in an apartment for a few years, stayed at a friends condo for a few months, but beyond that I've lived in a house most of my life. So my question is, what makes a good condo? What kind of facilities? What kind of locations are best? I've done a lot of research on the internet, but its mostly technical, I would like to know from people who've lived in condos, or know what its like for a condo to succeed to give me some advice. Thanks a lot.

Okay, so I've been a fan of Sim City since the start and I had my concerns about the game as with most of you I would think. But I was willing to give it a shot, but from all of the game review sites I've been to, the concensus is not positive. But despite that, being a Sim City Enthusiasts and the fact that some things that the game critics consider cons about the series I consider pros I would like to address my questions to Sim City fans specifically. The first set of questions I have are concerning things I thought could've have been better handled in Sim City 4. 1. Are there curved roads in this game? 2. Can you build multi-leveled streets? 3. Can you mix zones? I find that in many downtown buildings, the upper floors are residential and the first floor is commercial, is this in Sim City Societies? Here are some concerns I have about Sim City Societies in general. 4. How large are the city lots? I've seen many screen shots of the game, yet I've yet to see a full-blown city or anything near to it? It is possible? Is the map endless? 5. When I saw the screenshots, some of the scales seemed off and the game looked a little cartoony? Is it a big deal? Should I worry about it? 6. One thing that really intrigues me about this new title is the new camera. It's full 3D right? Is it worth buying the game simply for this experience? Or should I wait for Cities Unlimited, which also seems to have this 3D camera. Thanks for reading my questions.

Reviews for Sim City Socities (SCS)

I would really like to hear about Simtropolis communities opinion on the game. I respect the opinions of urban planning enthusiasts far more than just your generic game critic.
