  1. What is everybody's top suggestions on the MUST download content from the STEX and Modds area? I really need your opinion to add a touch of serious realism to my cities I'm going to create. I've seen peoples cities here on Simtropolis and they look a lot like cities in real life that I've seen before.
  2. Diamond Bay, Oregon

-This is the start of a city based on the Pacific coastal cities of Oregon. The city started out as a small mining town and then, at this point, is growing into a medium-sized and friendly group of communities and organizations. The city was founded in 1851 and didn't start growing very fast until around 1905. -The main areas of the town area are Diamond Beach, Union Creek, Oakridge, Chemult, Downtown, La Pine, and Tidewater. All of these areas have different characteristics and attract people to them in different ways. For example, Oakridge is a friendly suburban community but, Chemult has small, rundown areas. In this thread, I will give you a tour of each area as it is being built and/or as it is completed.
  3. Diamond Bay, Oregon

-This is a preview of the next Diamond Bay district....
  4. Diamond Bay, Oregon

-Update 2- -In this update, I will pretty much finish the tour of Oakridge. I'll also start to take some more pictures per update and put some of my city's documents and maps on the forums after this post. -Anyway, on to Update 2! As you can see, in this picture (above), to the left there is a fence. The fence surrounds the entire property of the Oakridge Power Plant due to safety issues. Some people have been come to their death in the high-speed turbines of the power plant. The buildings in the middle of the picture are all on a hill. The largest one in the picture is the "Made In Oregon" building. The small area of shops in the upper right were recently added due to the expand in population. North of power plant is another residential community that is at a higher elevation then the previous Oakridge communities. You can tell this because of the growth of pine trees like the Douglas Fir. This is another new Oakridge commercial district along with some high-tech industries. Diamond Park which is one of the most famous parks in the city was just built six months before this picture was taken. In the upper-right corner lies Fire Station no.1 and to the left are the houses from the previous picture. The high-tech plants here were added because of the real techies out in the city wrote me a letter saying that we need to look towards the city's future employees who are now in school learning and possibly majoring in scientific advances. This is my favorite picture so far because of the major detail. I have had many meeings on what to do with the roads when it comes to rough terrain. We have come to a conclusion to build tunnels around the areas that are most likely to be highly congested in the future. To the left is Aspen Park which has been around longer than Diamond Park. This is the same commercial district that extends from the area where the "Made In Oregon" building is. The increasing commercial buildings mean that the zoning for more residential is going to be planned very soon.
  5. Diamond Bay, Oregon

-Upadate One Replies- home and away, tomdapom, hunkske, granto93, jacqulina, Schulmanator, Amerikaner, patriots_1228, sEAhAwk fAn121, and beachfrontproperty- thank you for all your replies! patriots_1228, sEAhAwk fAn121- Thank you for the suggestion. I will take another look at the STEX for some houses and shops. -I will post again tommorrow more pictures of what I've gotten done so far.
  6. Diamond Bay, Oregon

In this picture, the year is 1998. This is the only power plant in the city and it is named after the area of town it is in. This power plant uses clean technology that was up-to-date at the time. Just south of the power plant, in Oakridge, lies a quiet residential community. The people who live here barely move out. Although, a lot of them are older people and decide to use one of these homes as their last house to live in. Lets head south into the small commercial district of Oakridge. At the top, lies the Sky Plaza where places such as Big Lots! are located. The two blue buildings to the right are the architectural offices that design some of the homes in Oakridge and some of the homes in the other parts of the city.
  7. I need help!!!

You must not be clicking on the name of the item you are trying to download first. Once you click the title, there should be a box that pops up with a download link. I think this is your problem- if not try downloading a newer browser version.
  8. Question about Regions.

In the STEX I saw that there were files called 'maps' but I also saw that there were files called 'regions.' Are these the same thing?
  9. New Discovery; A Chara CJ

There is so much much to comment on! Good creativity on everything, I look foward for more updates!
  10. Battlefront Zanapolis | SciFi BAT plant

The BATed building is really colorful and texurized realistically, so I'll be looking foward to your futuristic city update!
  11. 2050.

How about the Las Vegas Valley where I live.... -There will be a 8.0 earthquake inbetween now and 2050 -Gas prices will be $10.00 a gallon in the valley -After our gas prices rise, all the crude oil coming from the Middle East will stop coming into the U.S. and there will be no gas to ship goods and food. Therefore, the whole city will go up in chaos and a lot of people will die due to the extreme heat and no ACs because of a troubled economy. -If the whole U.S. doesn't get cut from crude oil or chooses an alternative energy source, most of our cars will be powered with hydrogen. -I do agree with everybody on the sea levels rising as well.
  12. 33 confirmed dead in campus rampage

I still don't know what caused this wacko to do something like this? What triggered him?
  13. Japa's BAT works in progress

The station is looking great. Your walls all look individually set. (1 per tile) You should mess with them a little and try to line them up so the wall pieces look completely connected with one another.
  14. The Portland & Oregon BAT Team, Chapter 1

It's looking mighty fine but a couple of the overlaying textures seem to be just a bit dull. I think it's the pinkish/redish texture around the windows.
  15. **NEW YORK**

I look foward to the rest of NYC. Keep in mind that NYC IS the biggest and most populous city in the United States, so keep up the good work!
  16. Osaio: Hand Terraformed

The rural look is magnificent for your pictures. I also have to say that I like your tree variation and your ridges and cliffs as well.
  17. STEX and modd download suggestions

I think I might have the NAM already but thanks dadyrghluv. How would I be able to do that, crazyyaya?
  18. Wow, the picture of the rural large houses looks real. I wish I could work my residential like that.
  19. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Lisbon, Portugual.

All of the Latin America cities you posted almost completely differ from Mexico, because I was in Mexico about a week ago. The wealth overall seems to be much better in Rio de Janeiro than in Mexico according to the buildings.
  20. The Capital of the World!

I think the capital should be NYC basically because it is the most popular city in America, and a lot of Worldwide businesses are run there.
  21. Tokyo anyone?

The styles of the buildings vary nicely making Tokyo unique. I can relate this to Hong Kong which is my favorite city when your looking at the buildings throughout the day, especially at night.
  22. paris suburbs

If you think about some of Paris's suburbs look like some of the LAtin American suburbs. Not a whole lot of Latin Amrican suburbs are like that due to wealth but the ones that do are higher class. You did a good job when getting the pictures at the different times of the day and in different types of weather.
  23. Fallingwater

How can you possibly argue about it with architecture like that? That is the nicest waterfall building I've ever seen. Nice pics
  24. Why is the website so slow??

Most of you are right. The website has no membership fees and is completely free. The City Journals do contain a large portion of the page at view and every little detail in the pictures plus the website layout itself has to load. Don't forget the avatars and the small animations for peoples signatures.
  25. STEX and modd download suggestions

I Think I've seen a modd that corrects commute time but I had to delete it.
