What am i doing so wrong? NONE of my cities grow
Fawah replied to Geoff777's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Don'f feel bad I also tryed that walkthrough and failed. I found http://www.simcitycentral.net/knowledge/item.php?subaction=showfull&id=1081844639&archive=&start_from=&ucat=6&&cat=6 to be a much better walkthrough. That said, yes zone you housing with at least 2, I'd recommend 3 tiles long so sims can have larger homes/backyards making it more desirable. Once your city is growing and desire is high you can do one tiles and get them to build. -
I'd post screen shots. Also, have you messed with taxes? Maybe you Res taxes are so low then can't help but not want to live there even if there are no jobs?

Great work here, someone walked by my cube and asked what arial photos I was looking at; they where amazed it was a game.

Greetings, this is my first attempt at posting some pictures of my city region Brentwood so go easy If you can see the pictures, they are just random shots of my commerce city Newton. I'll post more of the rest of the region if this goes well, region has ~500000 pop so far.

I thought I'd post some some shots where a lot of my sims grind out the day and to make money to pay the man...me Busy Freight station: monorail interchange going currently off to nothing but eventually will be more burbs: Hightech land: I know it all nees some more work but I like to get a city stable and profitable then start tweaking esthetics. I'll post more when I build up and clean up
-
Sorry, above is my attempt @ the burbs, aptly named Suburbia!

Typical neighborhood Hiking trails by the hospital Railway leading up to my elevated commerce area I thought I had more of my elevated commerce area but cannot find it atm, industry pics to follow. They love their monorail their

I have the super demand mod enabled for this section, helps a bit with demand . Yeah, getting a lot of the same buildings and would like some more variety but I'm pretty new to city building and took me a while to get things going well; even with the demand mod. I only have one plopable building, I hate to mess with what works but if anyone has any suggestions on growable buildings I can install to get more variety I'd appreciate it. I'll upload some shots of my res city Sidilia later. Oh, a big shout out to Simgoober (among others, most things Goober get downloaded ) for their fantastic work with parks and to those who made the road top mass transit.

Right, if your city is growing, hopefully it is, you'll cont to get the intellectually challenged moving in lowering your overall intelligence. If you either stop expanding and wait or wait until your pop get larger and the influx of new people doesn't effect your int numbers as much your intelligence will rise. People moving out and back into the city will also cause int to lower, they leave smart and come back just as stupid as they where the first time.

I played a long time ago and have come back recently. I used to use Simgoobers trial parks which I love (love anything Goober ). Anyway, I cannot find the many dependencies (formatted since I last played), such as the floral pack here or over @ sc4. I can place the parks and see the trail but thats it, very plain; no flowers/trees, etc. Also what should be the towers/gardens, etc come up as blank slots. Driving me crazy, anyone out there that can help?
-
I'm pretty sure I installed that one but I'll check when I get home, thanks
-
Find them isn't the problem, I'm also registered @ BSC; the problem is the dependencies provided alone with the link comes up either locked or URL requested not available.
-
This looks fantastic, I'm always amazed at some of you that have the patience and foresight to see the best way to lay out a region. I'm pretty new to SC4 and have to ask bluntly, do you (and anyone else reading) "cheat"? IE ind mult, desire mult, etc. I don't ask because I think there's anything wrong with it, more because I can't seem to get NEARLY the same results in my cities. If I tried to do what you've done I end up with traffic nightmares and job zots/abandonment galore. I guess I'm asking is this type of city possible without the multipliers and "enhancements ?

I've been playing for a while and the destruction part of the game never interested me; don't get me wrong I've unleashed some meteors in my day. I thought though there was a way to turn on random disasters no? I'll lell you what will happen if you build no fire stations, your ind/comm won't grow as well and you'll have fires burn the city down until you plop a FS. The idea of of only building one main one is the best idea, you'll still break up the gameplay and if you are on a large map with the firestation in one corner and the fire in another you'll probably even loose a building or two.

I'm curious as well.

https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=13698 I think this is what your looking for.

I know the one your talking about becuase I had it too when I used to play a while back. It had different color railings for the stairs. I have not been able to find it again either. Will try to look again.

I lurk A LOT but usually don't post, but I have to say great work. As far as small goes remember he is creating the entire world in an area most create one or two large cities, small details will be missing but overall awesome satalite view of the world.

Sorry, I went and checked, I confused that tutorial with Fast Population and Profit Growth on Hard Game Play Setting. I knew I recognized your's though because I tried it too, and it failed for me too even when I did it exactly the same as tut.
-
Ok, I believe I read that tutorial as well. Going by your comment about 500 Ind jobs it sounds like you don't have the Ind multiplier installed which I believe was necessary for that tutorial to work.
