  5. Cannot get passed Sound.Dat file

ok, I tested The audio/video system, and by pressing the test button on the bottom of a few of the screens everything seems to be ok. I'm kinda computer retarded so I don't even know what a sound driver is, or how to make sure I have the latest type. And as for the system config, im not complatly sure what you mean but it think a pentium 4 512mb uh and I have windows XP if that helps. If thats not it then I could find out for you. Thanks alot for helping out.

Dont' worry about what you cant understand just follow these steps and it shouldent happen. 1. Go into the file that you downloaded 2. Click the "readme" file 3. its going to give you list of things you need called "dependences" 4. get these things. 5. your probelm should be solved
  7. well the tilte pretty much explains it. I had to uninstall my game after messing something up while trying to mod, I had a back up file but that didnt work either. I had just started a new region and hadnt done much anyway, so I wouldent lose to much. anyway uninstallation went fine. When I reinstalled it got up to about 88-90%, basicly when it starts installing the sound.dat file. So i tried reinstalling it a few more times and I eventuallty I got a message that said something like " probelm copying sound.dat file. Would you like yo retry or cancle installation?" Retrying didnt work. I went to the ea website and found a whole section on installation freezing up or crashing, which was basicly what was happening, just on the same file every time. They say to basicly copy all the files from the cd to the computer, and you will be able to install without the cd. When doing this, it cant copy the sound.dat file from the cd to the computer. In order to copy the files from cd to computer you just have to select all the files, and copy and paste into a new folder on your desktop, but you could just not select the sound.dat file right? I havent got to trying this yet becuse it takes so much time to copy files from the cd to the computer. So my questions: 1. Do you have a solution to this probelm. 2. Do you think my solution would work? 3. What exactly is the probelm you know like is it a corrupt file, a cd probelm? Thanks alot in advance. Edit: I just tried to install with the EAs instrucions again, it froze up on simcity3.dat, but when i copied the the file from cd to computer again by itself, with no other files, it worked. When trying the same with sound.dat it froze up : \
  8. Hey, I got up to the point where you were showing us how to do the thing with the navigator, but when I click on the navigator it says " No exampler found. You have to open & select the file simity1.dat in the main screen in order to use the navigator". I'm almost positive im doing this, it says simcity_1 Reader and everything on the top.Could anybody tell me what i'm doing wrong?
