  1. TAC Aviation Support Series Functional Airports

Sithlrd: Thanks for the comments. What other airports are you referring to? I may or may not be able to help. I have followed the thread on SC4 Devotion with some interest and await the BSC team developments as much as everyone. The material will probably prove just as technical though. These will do for my developments and are really earmarked for the new or quick fix SC4 Player i.e. TAC Aviation 1 DAT. I have developed the others at someone else's request.

GROUND SIGNAL FAILURE - I have uploaded a new installer, but some of you have found this difficult to use as well. I will therefore upload a new ZIP with 4 file variations and you will have to proceed manually. You do not need this download until TAC Aviation commences with its releases so it shall remain locked for the interim. Please note that the file variation / constituent info is included with the download. TAC Aviation Support Series (Airport Developer DAT Files) Details: This will allow you to plop a combination of functional airports within your region / city and minimise the risks of CTDs or ‘Crash to Desktop’ instances. This is a rather risqué development in that you will require all the functional airports of a particular subset for any of the functional airports to plop without a CTD occurring. This means that if you install ‘TAC Aviation 1’ to your plug-in folder, it will conflict with a number of other developer files for functional airports that have followed on from the original Maxis airports (e.g. plopping SG’s Heliport with TAC Aviation 1 DAT installed will cause a CTD). So you will have to identify which of the listed airports are already in use in your cities and install the specific TAC Aviation DAT file to support this. Why should I bother? Well you shouldn’t unless you intend to download forthcoming (and specifically tagged) TAC Aviation Lots. I am hoping that these will be worth your effort in fiddling with your plug-ins at any rate! This download includesa single installerfor all 4 Versions of the TAC Aviation DAT (variations in the Read Me). Delete the files that are not needed or ensure that they are far away from your SC4 Files. Your choice of file will override but not harm the ‘simcity_1.dat’ file at location – Type: 0x6534284A Group: 0x67CD5FA1 Instance: 0xCA270E9D These files supersede any previous airport developer file, either installed within specific airport downloads / packs or more specifically Swamper77’s Airport Support File DAT. Due to the command line reference you will need to remove / delete all previous versions of this type of file, excluding ‘simcity_1.dat’ of course. Issues: As the TAC Aviation series follows on from previous functional airport developments, if you are missing (even if it is just) one airport of a particular subset, placing any TAC Aviation series lot within a city will cause a CTD (it may even wreck the relevant city). Okay, so before you get alarmed or just plain frustrated, you should also consider whether a particular airport has been re-lotted (i.e. where someone has borrowed ‘space’ as a development platform for alternative texture and prop set arrangements to specifically avoid CTD issues). If this is the case, as long as the particular ‘Instance ID’ is supported, it should not cause a CTD. Take my ‘Tuckley Air Charter’ development. This was based on Joerg’s Airport Tram Lot and will therefore be supported by the developer files installed with that specific set of files (i.e. the SWAP). You will have to test whether you have selected the appropriate file by plopping all the airport lots and referencing the GUID in game after you have saved, closed out, restarted and re-entered your otherwise blank TEST city. Crafty, us Modders! It may also be the case that an airport author will include an updated developer file specifically to include his / her new Instance IDs. It may be the case that this is enclosed within an all encompassing support DAT file and will not be found if generally searching through your plug-ins folder. If it is there, it will no doubt conflict and cause a CTD. So any DAT file within an airport pack is a suspect and s
  3. Tuckley Air Charters

Thank you all for your valued comments. I am looking at the Unique ID Instance issue and perhaps a revised Airport Developer exemplar similar to Swamper77 at present. I hate dependencies as much as anyone, but again I was just getting my feet wet. I will try to isolate constituents to enclose a merged dat file as support in forthcoming releases. Thanks again!

Lot Description: Tuckley Aire Corporation: TAC Heliport’s Division production by Prometheus007. Designed to fit in with most mid and or downtown, technical and industrial areas. This facility will carry on corporate air charters, mop up regional travel needs and carry on mail distribution services. Lot Attributes: - Size: 10x10 Hex Lot Stimulates demand in line with the Airport Tram file (and airports generally), however I have decreased the demand for jobs and increased demand for amenities. - Demand Increase: Jobs – 100$, 50$$ and 20$$$ - Demand Increase: Amenities – 100$, 200$$ and 300$$$ - Requisite: Water - Yes - Requisite: Power - Yes - Requisite: Zone – No - Requisite: SC4 Deluxe Version - Yes - Other: Wealth Types - $, $$ and $$$ - Other: Tested SC4 – No - Other: Tested SC4RH - No - Other: Tested SC4D – Yes Lot Concept: My first lot and first upload to Simtropolis. I wanted to create a functional airport as an alternative to the in-game airport / heliport options. I hunted around for a base lot to carry on development and Suplado!’s Airport Tram file was suggested by the STEX Airport Team. We eagerly await the release of the BSC Team’s developer *.dat’s, already in the pipeline to spread our wings in so far as CTD avoidant development. Until I can get enough hours behind me in ILive’s phenomenal Reader program I am not able to start producing lots under differing locations, unique ID’s etc. So please put up with me developing on the Tram file for awhile. TAC Heliport is really a test case for me and essentially a learning curve to produce slightly better and more functional solutions in the future. So I welcome any comments you may have. TAC is named after my partner who is a veritable angel for putting up with the many hours I devote to SC4. Lot Credits: TAC Heliport would not have been possible without the creative talents of the following development teams, designers and associate designers – Core Development - - Pilotdaryl (R&D) (Props & Textures) - Ace_bovenopdeberg (R&D) (Props & Textures) -
