hi everyone, I have been playin wiz the CAM for about 3 months and my region pop have reached 330000 and now I have come across some problems so i would like to ask some of u out there who might have some experiences wiz CAM. ok so here it is, 1. My goal is not to built a region wiz HUGE population , but still i am stuck wiz the fact that buildings r not growin very fast ( or i should say R$$ & R$$$ demands r like always half of R$ ) . also, i just cant get anymore R$ highdensity to build sucessfully even though its demand is very very high. I want to know if this is normal or not. 2. I also notice demand for COM & IND r high but when i use the commute query and click on a COM office, lets say with 1000 jobs, but the query has only like total of few hundreds of sim commutin to that building.(of course I use the normal query but then it shows that there r really 1000 jobs all full.....) so what is the explaination of this??? 3. how do u find about CAM ??? does it make game play easier for u ? My opinion is I really love how the road capacity is a lot more realistic but even after 3 months of tryin.... I am still not very sure if I am handling the MOD correctly. 4.last , is it possible to put a demand MOD on top of the CAM mod??? And ( i really love some of the great CJ works here), do they use CAM as well??? since in normal game play, streets only have a very low capacity but i see many CJ mayors have nice suburbs with all streets only and it doesn't seem like they have a huge traffic/commute problem.... well..... thanks for ur time reading this and hope to hear some good advice soon.

agree wiz rustalot for the bus route. I also want to have subway route since in reality , you don't always get to switch lines in every subway station. We should have a few to choose from such as main subway station(higher capacity) , normal station (lower capacity and no transiting to the other line). In sc4..... i really hate how the sims abuse my subway.... i want to have a define route like in real life. and definitely, we need to devide commercial zones into services and offices clearly so i can make nice shopping areas

marty22 have u try killin all connection such as the highway ??? and then lay ur train rail and see if that would force those silly sims to use the train. ***************************************************************************** actually i also have a lot of problems with this kind of issue. usually the most effiecient one for me is to have a region lay out like this SUB - IND - SUB RC - center - RC SUB - IND - SUB ( all medium size tile) and ofcourse..... lead ur silly sims to the center to boost the traffic to cause High Dense commercial to build. all other forms of MT will spread out from the center. how ever .... i would only have 1 to 2 ring road so to avoid too much silly sims comin in a city and leavin right away.

Planning Problems
hammypotter replied to Evilmexicandictator's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
well.... lets look at this problem with a little common sense. first of all, you have to know where is ur " city center " . real cities always expand outward surrounding the center. so u should also consider layin roads and other transport leading sims into the center. of cox , putting a few "ring road' is also necessary. second, ask ur self where will ur airport and seaport be?? and then u would realise in most cases, manufacturers/factories will like to be close to highways and airport area. also industries (dirty) will want to be close to seaport. commmercial services should be spread all over on roads with high traffic. third, make a plan on the percentage of poor, medium , rich sims living in ur city. lets say 40% -40% - 20% respectively. then decide where will they live and place the right kind of civil services in those area. i very often start a region tryin very hard to make nice planning but sometimes it just doesn't work or just couldn't get any ideas. in these cases i will only focus on a small area where i know what i am doing and probably go back to the "stucked point" after a while. recently i am re-innovatin my rail layout on a large tile with round 20000 population. yeah its alot of work but its about time to do so otherwise it will become impossible when the whole large tile is 70% build with zones and etc. just take this advice. always focus on a small area such and when u r out of idea , move to another spot and go back later. -
in my case.... i can build nice hi-tech but not for manufacterer .... the only buildings i get r goth mechanics and a bunch of mixin tanks >< .... i really want to get some bigger factories.... anyway... i have no problem with sims gettin to their factories. i think u just have to make sure that ur residential area r close enough. ( i have sims travellin from 20 grid squares and some even travel on to the neighbor city )
