I am going to, in the near future, begin working on a recreation of my hometown in British Columbia, Canada. I don't have the time at the moment to begin anything, but I will have to do some planning and do it in parts as this is going to be tough (there is no region on the STEX of anywhere near my hometown except for one Greater Vancouver region) some help would be greatly appreciated. First off, are their any other members of ST living in Langley?? It would make things alot easier to have another local to bounce things off of. For now, please feel free to post your suggestions...

Yeah really accurate, and I'm anxious to see more so I'm bookmarking this

Hi, haven't posted here for... Wow probably somewhere near a year now. I've engrossed myself in Beyond the Sword for Civ 4 lately but I've decided to keep an updating place for my screens here, so I'll just get straight to it... These first few are from my newest region, downloading from the STEX as "Cloudhaven", the first city being Reve, with a population of 13,084.

nihonkaranws: Thanks for the critique, I'll look for a mod sometime today. And I've tried the ACE airport packs, and they're just so confusing... I'm not a pilot and I don't know what an apron is. But I'll try to! SimHoTToDDy: It's all a matter of user content, and I try, I really do. I think I have 600 MB so far, and I'm expanding it every day I'm on. I hope to one day have 3.5 GB (compressed) as well. Thanks for the advice! I'm going to be working on a remaking of my hometown and surrounding region, a population of over 2 million and an area of, wow I don't know... around 100 km x 40 km or so... (Langley, BC, in the sig!) So that should tie me up for a couple of life times!

Thanks for the view, and I'm one step ahead of you there I really like the approach I took to this one, which surprised me... Since the downtown is the result of just a slapped down grid in a diamond shape with high density zones thrown in. Not alot of planning, and it's visually and aesthetically paid off. This one's got alot of pictures, so I'll just throw them all in and let you guys post your opinions, beginning with the city overview:

A city I'm currently working on In an old region (Paradise Beach, where a couple of my other cities are) which is doing quite well. The downtown population is currently around 60,000 and has a good half a medium tile of developement to do, 70% of which will be suburban. Here are some pictures of the downtown (I'll snap some outside later) ^ Overview ^ Hold tight and I'll get the suburbs coming along uber-quicklike!

City Grid: How do I make it show up?
CKSmooth replied to Rauros's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
The G button does make the grid show up. It highlights the grid for a second and then the actual grid becomes apparent. Do you have any lag with your system/does your computer exceed the system requirements? -
mitsos: "my largest city is Penthesili with 17,439,004 people " WHAT??? One city?? Was that with the CAM and NAM? Jesus. Bravo either way.

Fantastic work, I love the downtown and mid-town shots. Work like your's is what I look up to. Keep it up!

Awesome! You put tons of detail in that one island, I mean all the trails and the seawall.. Bravo. Favourited for sure.

Wow, buddy holy... Very good work! Is it a reconstruction of Revelstoke, BC? I didn't notice any mountainous valleys, or the fact that your version is much more built up, but the Crowsnest Pass tipped me on... But anyway, excellent work I love the small city concept. I'll make a point of favouriting this.

etherian: I finally stumbled across the apartments you asked for. They're called Hillsboro Apartments and they're by rexnfx in the STEX.

Out of the chest again with a new region, this time Victoria, BC (I was going to do a remake of it but I decided to just get creative, I'll do a remake some time when I'm more patient) here is the only region overlook so far: The downtown area will be around the highway loop (where the real BD is)

I started way back in Kindergarten or first grade or so on a Mac SE in my school like DanWalker. Man that was pretty old school haha my nuclear power plants always blew up months after I built them... Then when I was 6 I got SC2K SE for Christmas (1996) and from then on I was a SC fan. It took me a while to understand how to play the game since I was so young, so I just blew up the cities that came with the game. Then I got SC3KU for one of my birthdays... I think it was my 11th in 2001. That one never really had my addicted. Then I was browsing the site sometime in 2003 I think, reading up about SC4, and it was psyching me out it looked so awesome. And so since my... 15th birthday I think, I've been playing Deluxe and it's by far the best SC game out there.

Cartoonish??? How do they look cartoonish? The buildings are outfitted with textures snapped from real world photographs. I'm afraid your tastes may be out of reach...

I build from the downtown out, which makes it easier to balance the appearance of the region and plan transportation better. If you start at the downtown, remember to keep the industrial hubs away from the downtown and give them fast access (mass transit, passenger rail etc,) which you'll need in the downtown anyway, and it's easier to build it while your city is young rather than later.

Representinnnn Vancouver! From Gastown Yaletown And from the seawall Voted best in the world for a reason! [Marc- please make sure your images are within the 800x600 limit. Your pictures have been resized.]

At the bottom left of the screen on the main toolbar by the mini-map, there is a small button shapped like a square. It minimizes the entire toolbar so it's basically invisible. Then, press Ctrl-Shift-S to pop up the photo tool, and use the space bar as usual to resize the photosize.

Explodingsims: Thanks for the advice, I'll try with some more parks on the beachside or something. etherian: Oh god I have so many plugins, My best guess would be that they are BSC. Possibly Deadwoods? If I have any success, I'll tell you.

Awaiting questions

Even more pictures of Brooksway (East Suburbs) and outlying developement: And, as anarchy wished, I provided: A nice overview of Port Ryan: And I did some work on a transit map for the region and took a snap of the transportation view... ^Now as you can see the JPG for this turned out quite horribly. Sorry if it's so bad that it can't be read, but Photobucket is being immature yet again... I can't upload a clearer BMP file

jacqulina & nottheboss: Thanks jjune4991: Double thank you! I believe it's the asphalt one. I like the look of it by the beach, but the cobblestone would've worked as well... :/ anarchy0029: Thanks! The rail network is still pretty young and isn't getting alot of traffic (Port Ryan hasn't a single freight route, because it has yet to find a destination which I'm working on) but the next update will definitely see a rail map which I'll take the time to do and some more Port Ryan pictures since it has room to expand.

Oh my god, I finally took the time to check out your CJ and... I am blown away. The day you complete this will be years away for sure. I like your determination! It's incredible. Keep up the good work!
