Thanks all again for the replies, I haven't started the mosaic yet... Plus I have to find a good spot to do a mosaic of. I did however expand the city southward and create some industrial port space and frieght hub. I have some pictures, but photobucket is down right now so those will be out soon.

nottheboss: Thanks for the drop by comment! NMUSpidey: Thanks, yeah it just works with what I do (I dont like lining the coast with nothing but beach, for one thing it's really hard to do with or without the beach kit) And Thanks for that! Do you remember what they're called? Kiwi n Grapes: Thank you, and you needn't wait much longer... anarchy0029: Thanks
  4. CKSmooth Showcase

Thanks, but I didn't pu up a mosaic It kinda looks like I did almost at first glance which is completely coincedence... But I will try sometime to make a mosaic. I don't have photoshop so I'll have to try with paint...

    ...Any comments or interest?

lucky7: Thanks for the tips, I never thought of using GE, I'm going to start doing that and take some notes. etherian: Thanks alot! I'm working on miles and miles of suburbs right now and they're starting to turn out verrry well but traffic remains somewhat a problem at this early time. Once I've expanded past the downtown completely, I'll start making the streets more diagonal perhaps, or conforming to the terrain or whatnot. So as you can see, I really like where the burbs and outskirts are going. Here are a couple from the growing downtown. Corporations moving in ^ The overlook has changed now as well, the first and second pictures being taken about 5 years apart

I'm trying to improve my city building, and what are some tips on making a particularly CJ or showcase-worthy city? exactly how do you guys build your cities? EDIT: One thing that would help would be some good BATs. I'm looking for something Vancouver ish in architecture, and alot of the stuff I find on the STEX is American influenced. Anybody know where I could find something here? Maybe Pacific Canada influenced at least?

RJN: Thanks! Looks realistic doesn't it? 20Twenty: Thanks etherian: That makes sense, and thanks for the outside analysis. Suburban sprawl is something I think looks really good in SC4 but I'll keep it under control. lucky7: Thanks for dropping by, and thats the exact same impression I got from those pictures too. I'll check out your CJ when I get a chance. Region picture: Sorry if that looks a little blurry, but everything outside of Grandville for now is planned for some local suburban sprawl, and I'll have the G-10 running along the whole outside of the peninsula, and expand the el-line as well. The region also has a bus system, and when the budget can handle it, I may add a subway line spreading out from Grandville, so stay tuned.
  9. ...The first thing I thought when I saw this: WOAH WOW! I even said it out loud. And I'm alone in my room. Wow. .....Wow.
  10. CKSmooth Showcase

Whoops... Had a run of no SC4 again, but I'm back and I'm making a habbit of downloading as much of Goobers and BSC's stuff as I can to make my cities look more... ya. Can't find a word for that one. Anyway! I've been working on a region that is HUGE. Thus I'm building sattelite cities that will eventually be connected sometime in a few decades. The one I'm most dedicated to right now is Grandville, name inspired by Granville in Vancouver. The architecture style is much different from the Industrial early 1900's however. Anyway. zee ooooold overhead pic. new one coming up soon... Sorry for the lack of creative writing, getting pretty lazy.. I will follow up shortly with an updated overhead pic and planned region layout.

  12. Nuclear Starbucks Anniversary Edition

is this a joke? i dont get it...
  13. Radius Doubler Mod

niiice now i can stretch out the burbs
  14. CKSmooth Showcase

Hmm, thanks for the advice, it was interesting! I'll try and implement that... it's hard to find a BAT standard here as many dependancies just vanish from the exchange. But stayed tuned for some more pics sometime.
  15. CKSmooth Showcase

Thanks for all the comments guys! I have but one question I'd like to throw out there to aid in my buildings of les cities. What is one major criticism that you think would make the pics/city planning better?
  16. CKSmooth Showcase

nottheboss: Thanks, that's what I shoot for. I apologize for the long pauses, and thank those with patience and good taste for tuning in. These first few pictures are from an old project that I quickly updated and snapped some photos of; my hometown, Vancouver BC. It's pretty accurate but for the most part it was meant to be fictional and not stay true to real life (except leaving Stanley Park one big forest, which I did) And now a couple pictures of the previous region's work, Cloudhaven: This one I just had to show; it was a crazy pile of no-dependancy-boxes that showed up in place of trees after deleting Cycledoggs Tree Modds and placing a forest: cRaZy! Cheers CKSmooth

KingTitan: Thanks, but some places in the real world have to build fields like that. Leveling terrain doesn't always give a more beautiful appearance, especially in my case. NMUSpidey: Thanks! I'll definitely check that out.
  18. CKSmooth Showcase

Thanks for the replies guys! abcvs: Yeah, my hometown is alot like that, when there was an influx of Swedish and Polish immigrants during the second world war, and now with a huge asian boom. nottheboss: Oh yeah. I've had Civ since 06 but still cant get much higher than Warlord difficulty :/
  19. Riverwalls , embenkment sets!

Thinking most likely of the BSC Canals lots by simgoober, and they SHOULD* still be here on the STEX but they may be at SC Devotion.
  20. Having trouble getting medium wealth res.

When you adjust taxes, you're adjusting them for zones and wealth levels. When you're taxing for low residential, you're adjusting funding for low WEALTH residential. Low DENSE residential refers to how dense the zone is (the magnitude of sims living/working in the zone) thus low dense low wealth residential is what the city starts pumping out when it just starts because there is little or no education and health and other services. What you want is low dense medium wealth residential. Zoning for low DENSE residential is what you do first (what you're doing) but then you have to adjust taxes for medium WEALTH residential to be much lower than that for low WEALTH or high WEALTH residential, and rich and poor sims will be scared away from moving in due to the high taxes. So wealth refers to how wealthy the sims in the lot are. Density refers to how many sims are in the lot.

    Cooool work seb!
  22. Is there a mod on the site that allows me to control or eliminate any or all of the default Maxis buildings that show up in-game so that only custom content will show up? ie. A "No Maxis Residential" mod that stops the game from popping up Maxis residential buildings so that I can stuff my plugins folder full of 19th century houses or something and have ONLY them show up.
  23. TPP Distress call

As you may or may not know, The Planning Pages is a major part of the SC4 Network Alliance. We host at the moment a few projects giong on such as the Simcity Basketball League. Of late, we have had several run ins with people who don't seem to take the site seriously at all, who have continued, against our wishes, to discriminate, name call, and abuse many basic rights that would apply on any other forum, including this one. One such incident of many involves a former member named flyover. He was a staff member, until he was demoted (due to reasons I personally don't understand but the webmaster Zane did) After a while things were okay, until he was banned. Shortly after (Around the time of this post) he ran around the site posting extremely foul, grotesque comments attacking people personally who had no involvement with his ban, and angrily flaming sexual harassment related comments to many forum members at TPP. His IP had to be once again banned on several counts and in several ways, and photographed proof can be presented (but won't, due to its verbally graphic content) This is being brought to the upper community's attention because there have been several (and by the looks of it, will be) incidents of the like (interchange, krio), and any help we can get in better monitoring or participating in keeping the peaceful community peaceful would be welcomed with open arms. (I hope this thread was placed in the right board, if not please move it to the right one, and I apologize in advance should this be the case) Moving to ST Related, where I hope you'll get good advice.
  24. TPP Distress call

...Interchange you need to go somewhere to cool off, you've got some issues with someone other than me and you're getting miffed at me. I meant to say turned off, or put off or whatever the expression is... Edited -- Content You agreed to a code of conduct form before joining the forums, and by knowingly breaching it, it can be considered breaking the law. Neither me nor the other staff and members have a problem with the idea of bringing the issue to authorities, it's been done before. SkiGeek: Right, understood and I'm sorry again, this is the last you will hear of the problem.
