  1. In a video he released on his channel, YouTuber two dollars twenty relates his experience creating "New Dollarton," the city featured in the recent Cities Skylines 2 gameplay trailer. The video talks about how he was approached by Paradox Interactive to build the city for the trailer, his experiences building it, and his thoughts about all of it. Although two dollars twenty is understandably rather limited with what he could say about an upcoming game, he does talk about features he did enjoy such as day-and-night cycles and seasons. He also mentioned modular buildings, a feature very similar to the one found in the 2013 SimCity game. two dollars twenty is quite known in the Cities Skylines community for his in-game recreation of the fictional city of Springfield from The Simpsons. Cities Skylines 2 is slated for release on October 24, 2023.
  2. EA may be looking at the possibility of adding offline play and other features to SimCity as part of its future updates for its world-building series, according to a customer survey that has surfaced on Reddit. The survey (screenshots) seeks player feedback on potential upcoming features. These include: farms, faster rebuilding after disasters, over and underpass roads, cities twice the size of current land plots, terraforming, cooperative city building with friends, and Classic mode. The latter is described as allowing players to, “In offline or online mode, play a single, fully functioning city using cheats and unlocks that allow you to create your perfect city.” - Full article.
  3. Before anything, I would like to apologize if there was a thread just like this already. From what I'm seeing (or not seeing), these particular East Asian cities seem to be getting little media attention (like Mexico City and Sao Paolo). At first I thought of making a thread showcasing these cities, but I think it would be more interesting if we put them up on a poll. Bangkok, Thailand Jakarta, Indonesia Manila, Philippines As you can see, these wikipictures don't exactly do the cities justice so feel free to post pictures yourself to help drive your opinion. My answer would, of course, be Manila but that's because I've already been there twice and I would like to see the other two cities for myself. It's another reason why I made this poll--to see Bangkok and Jakarta's side too. Well, what about you guys?
  4. Who's on Facebook?

I signed up mainly for the Facebook games. Very rarely do I use it for "social networking."
  5. Are you going to buy Cities XL?

I'm definitely buying it, it's just a question of when (when I have saved enough allowance money ). Though I'll be buying it solely for the single player component. Any release date for Asia? That is, if they plan to sell it here.
  6. Improved Parking Garage includes Bus interchange

This is one of the most useful BATs I've seen (transportation wise). Definite 5 out of 5.
  7. Favorite TV shows

In no particular order: House Chuck Burn Notice CSI: Miami + CSI: NY Dexter NUMB3RS 24 Bones The Simpsons Mythbusters Prison Break Lost (missed a few episodes and got lost. I didn't bother to continue watching) Terminator: SCC (great while it lasted) The Penguins of Madagascar (my dad watches this too) and of course, some childhood nostalgia thanks to networks that decide to replay shows like: Seinfeld Early Edition Swat Kats
  8. For some strange reason I had this urge to take pictures of stuff so on one Sunday morning, I went out and took pictures all over town. Now I'm not much of a photographer but I'm gonna show you my crap anyway so bear with me. Presenting the Philippines' best city [citation needed.], Baguio! (oh and you can click on the pictures for bigger versions): There is no other place in the Phillipines where you can have a city that has so many pine trees and have a temperature of 16°c (it's rare for equatorial/tropical countries to have that kind of temperature). It's not very stunning, but it's home. That body of water you see in the lower part of the pic is Burnham Lake. Here's a closeup of the lake. Burnham Lake was designed by Daniel Burnham. He practically designed the whole city, including both the park and the lake named after him. My dad used to take me here when I was a kid. We got on the boats and paddled our worries away. No fishing though or you'd be arrested. This shot shows town with the burbs in the background. Baguio wasn't designed to accomodate 300,000 people so hills and mountains crowded with houses is a common sight. Now the Spanish colonizers' most prominent legacy was and is still is Christianity. The Baguio Cathedral is pretty much a product of that legacy. It's the city's most noticeable landmark (aside from all the pine trees). Here are some closer shots of downtown so that you could see the activity: And to close, here's one final overview of town: I guess that's it. I hope the loading times of the big pictures didn't bother you too much, haha.
  9. The never ending string of quotations.

"Well it looks like *shades on* something *dramatic pause* caught her." - Horatio Caine, CSI: Miami
  10. ...is murder.

Amputation equals genocide. Right, I'll keep that in mind.
  11. Change we can believe in.... Version 6.0!

Daggummit! Had I known we were gonna change layout, I would've taken screenshots of the old one just for kicks. Oh well. As for the new layout, it is quite bright as some already said. I'll definitely have trouble viewing this site with a migraine, but, other than that, the overall appearance looks fresh, neat, and clean. On another note, has the page flip bug been eradicated?
  12. Good Bye Sears Tower?

Eh? Who the heck is Willis? Yet another thing I could add to the list of "things that our outdated encyclopedia at home can no longer give correct/proper info about due to unexpected change in circumstance/s."
  13. Smells

Electronics store "shiny stuff" smell.quote> Yup. Like that smell too. I can't stand the durian fruit's smell... oh good heavens the smell. Most people can tolerate it but I am not "most people." If you're unlucky enough to get on a bus that has even just one fruit as baggage, you will have no escape even if you seat in front while the fruit is way back. The smell is just that strong. The smell I find weirdest, to say the least, is the hospital smell. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't.
  14. The ^,<, and v game!

^ Experienced a global catastrophe on his computer. < Does not live in the US. v Has a pet dragon.
  15. New Logo!

Haha! People love this game so much even the logo gets special attention. I can see why. All these new developments make me want to play the game even more.
  16. Can I See Your Nicest Parks?

Actually, after a quick search, it turns out that someone did come up with a "show us your parks" thread only he/she posted it in the wrong forum (SC4 general discussion) so no one paid that much attention to it. Well if this is going to be a "show us" thread, you, as the topic starter, should have your own screenshots to present. Regardless, I'll show mine. *cough, cough (from dust)* These are from my first (and personally my best) CJ *dusts off city journal*, The Miami Tint. A "sunken plaza." Now this just came to me. I don't know how, I don't know why--it just did. (click for full view) I barely play SC4 anymore (GASP!) but I do enjoy looking back at what I did with the game.
  17. Did someone come up with this already? Anyway, here's how the game works: Make a sentence out of the letters provided by the previous poster; afterwards, provide your own set of letters for the next poster. Example: (poster A) . . . WERTGFD (poster B) When Evaporated, Reheat To Get Fudge Delight LLFWCV (poster C) Love Life For Women Could Vary SLKDIER etc. You can have an actual word as your acronym if you like. Then the next poster will make a sentence out of that. Example: KEYBOARD Keep eating your bowl of apples, Randy dear. Remember: 1. Don't forget to provide an acronym for the next poster (that's obvious). 2. Your acronym can range from 5 letters to 8 letters (7 letters is the best, in my opinion). IMPORTANT UPDATE TO THE ABOVE RULE (01-15-08): If the person above you posts an acronym containing more than 8 letters, you can either make a sentence out of all the letters (if you feel like it) or make use of the first 8 letters in the acronym. 3. Avoid successively repeating letters in your acronyms ("RRRRTNC" for example repeats "R" too much). 4. Proper nouns in sentences are allowed (just like my example above where I made use of the proper noun "Randy"). 5. This is a forum game so try to keep things humorous (don't try too hard though). Got it? Alright, let's begin. --------------------------------------- SIMTROP
  18. The Official City Journal Critics Thread Archive

Awesome! Congratulations and happy birthday! What would the CJ section do without you.
  19. The Official City Journal Critics Thread Archive

Thanks! Yeah, you could expect nature in my CJ someday. It's already in the planning stages Oh. . . If only I knew that you were busy with other reviews, I would've asked someone else to review my CJ. You're practically on hyper-drive, BlondeTwiggy.
  20. Tokyo has Shinjuku and Marunouchi, I believe. Although the former is a lot denser than the latter.
  21. (click for full) Don't mind me, I'm just keeping the ball rolling EDIT: Apparently the ball is having a hard time rolling thanks to the page flip bug...
  22. Create-A-Band Game

Sons of Noah As You Are Extremely fun, I have to admit.
  23. The 85-year-old former "Tonight Show" sidekick will star in two viral rap videos for FreeCreditReport.com, a financial Web site owned by credit bureau Experian. "When I retired, I was famous," McMahon raps. "I had money and glory/I bought a house for 6 mil/I thought nothing could touch me/Until my credit went south, and debt started to crunch me/Next thing I know, instead of playing gin rummy, I was scrambling just to make ends meet/It wasn't funny."quote> Read the whole article (plus video link) here. Okaaay... Who am I to judge the guy? If he likes to rap around the block tonight, then I say let him. I'm not quite sure if he knows what he's in for though.
  24. Whoa...

OH! The facade was supposed to be made of glass , curtain wall style. That I did not know. I thought the Ryugyong Hotel would just remain as a "high-wealth commercial service building that dilapidated."
  25. Candyland

So sorry to hear that. Honestly, I really don't see why this city journal isn't getting that much attention. Starting a new CJ ain't such a bad idea. Just don't rush the new one. You have all the time in the world. Good luck with the new CJ! I'll definitely be there.
