If the guy doesn't go home by next week I just might start betting on him. Why did Sundance have to go, WHY!? Ahwell... C'mon beatbox dude!
  3. Planning Gotham City

Gotham City? Who would've thought... I hope this project gets off the ground. Since it's Gotham City, I'm guessing most of the pics would involve night time and/or a rainy day right?

I don't think anyone of us is going to budge.quote> lol! I seriously need to work on my grammar. Anyway, I do believe that, sometimes, religion does get in the way. It clouds our judgment, thus we fail to see the big picture. The thing is, even if we did clear out that 'religion fog' or not, we will still continue to look for answers to every single question on earth... and when humanity finally finds the answer (especially to the question: does a god exist or not?), whats next? It's over. You already know the answer. The thrill to search for the truth is gone, caput, history. But until that time comes, when humanity knows the answer to everything, I or should I say we will continue to search for the truth. Discovery is one of the prime driving forces of happiness, I believe.
  5. Any Questions? Any Answers?

Why did Gaius Julius Caesar say "The die is cast."?quote> Because he doesn't plan to take back what he is about to do, which is to engage in civil war with Pompey and Optimates?
  6. The SimTropolis House of Worship

...The cool thing about this thread, it will never end, except if we overload the ST servers...quote> Yeah--you said it. Whew! From the looks of things, I don't think anyone of us is going to budge. You guys firmly believe in what you believe in and likewise for us. I guess you could say that atheists won this round (I'm a 15 year old Filipino boy trying to square off with 2 adults, one of them a writer. Gimme a break!). I must say, this healthy exchange of info is so much fun! I rarely get to experience things like this. I'll be keeping my eye on this thread, anyway.

Ah, but who says the universe was completely empty at the time of the big bang? Who ever said the universe consisted of nothing - or that our observable universe is even the only universe.quote>Let's put it this way: A man plans to build a house on this currently empty lot. For that, he'll need plywood, concrete, nails, etc. But where are all those construction materials? They are nowhere near the empty lot (it's empty, remember?). So, the man goes to different shops and hardware stores to get what he needs. After which, he begins building his house. Those materials couldn't just appear like magic on the man's lot. The man had to take the time to buy those materials from shops. If the materials to start the creation of the universe were readily available, they were available for how long now? Millions? Billions? Quadrillions of years? Infinity... Wait a second... Infinity? That can't be. That's the past. I don't think our universe can have an infinite past. An infinite future maybe but not that. Like I said before: Someone started time itself. Why must it have been a god which created it - and if so, where did this god come from? What created the god? What are its motives? Where did this god get the materials to create the universe? If it is so difficult to believe the universe came from nothing via the Big Bang, how come it is so easy to accept the universe came from nothing via a god?quote>Why mustn’t it? Like I stated many times over; only he knows where he came from. Who are we mere humans to question the origins of this powerful being? Just be happy that you exist and breathe oxygen. His motives? I personally don’t care what his motives are (unless he plans to reveal them). I am alive. I can see the wondrous things around me. I can hear the soothing sounds of nature. I can smell the aroma of the past and present. I can feel the sensation of being able to exist. That’s enough incentive for me not to question his motives. Where he got the materials eh? He’s a god, remember? He can make things appear and disappear with a snap. If it is so difficult to believe the universe came from nothing via the Big Bang, how come it is so easy to accept the universe came from nothing via a god?quote>I don’t know why most people think like this but my thoughts are different. I believe that a powerful being made those materials available for the Big Bang to happen. I accept other ‘creation theories’ almost immediately, knowing that someone very powerful is behind it all.

Ahh, last attempt. Can anybody tell me where we all came from? (if you did that, you'd probably make me an instant atheist) Some of you might answer me with all sorts of scientific theories (big bang, etc.)... But have you ever thought of going beyond those theories? Did science dare to explain what was behind the Big Bang and the other theories? No! Why? Because everything that is beyond those theories are against everything that makes science a reality! Because according to science, it is impossible to make something out of nothing. Can you make something out of nothing? I sure can't. It is IMPOSSIBLE for the elements; solid, liquid, and gas to appear out of nowhere and spread out to be the different heavenly bodies currently existing in the universe. Like I said before, someone made those elements available for the different scientific theories to run their course. Someone started time itself. Without him, time itself would be a myth. Trust me, there is someone very powerful out there. Again, if you ask me where this higher power originated, I do not know the answer. Ask the guy responsible for everything you see before you and don't forget to tell me what he answered for I am also curious. I am just providing you a piece of what my agnostic/deist side believes in.

Oh it's a stream! Nice fountains, BTW. In my opinion, the new brick see walls look great. Keep em.' That's a mad (compliment) interchange you got there too.

You do not enter heaven based on what you do here on earth. You can only get to heaven through belief in Jesus Christ.quote> There is, however, an exception to this. If you are a Christian, you know all about Jesus, and you don't believe in Him, chances are you won't get into Heaven. But if you were someone who was born not knowing Christianity at all, that doesn't signal a one-way ticket to Hell. It's not your fault if you weren't aware of the existence of Christ.
  16. The SimTropolis House of Worship

First of all about the Big Bang, one thing that will always Science to say the least, until we fully understand the universe and Black and White Hole Theory we just have no idea how things came to be from dot.quote> Correct. Thanks for clarifying. My point is no matter how the universe came into being, may it be from the Big Bang or something else, someone started it all. After all, how would you justify the existence of something if there is no one to recognize it's existence?... And that someone is that entity that started this whole thing.
  17. The SimTropolis House of Worship

Alright! This topic's active again! I really have lots of fun having healthy discussions regarding things like this. I'll just quote what I said on the previous page so you wouldn't have to go there. On the defense of the Christian Bible: originally posted by: Deever Some of you might say that these things or events depicted in the bible are 'miracle grade' events, to the extent that some would think: "It's a miracle!", or maybe: "Dude, that's exaggerated. That can't be true. It's wrong." The info I gathered (whether it came from my own research, school, or National Geographic), made me come up with one conclusion: the stuff written in the bible shouldn't be understood literally, instead, they should be understood figuratively and at the same time merge those events with down-to-earth explanations (or as some of you would rather hear: science). Exhibit A: The parting of the water Moses event thing. What you understand as a body of water splitting itself into two, I understand as low tide. Exhibit B: The creation event thing (And on the sixth day, God made this and that etc.). What you understand as a higher power painting the skies and making rocks float to the surface, I see as the Big Bang. I'd present more 'exhibits' but that would mess up my statement. El punto: When you read the bible, learn to read between the lines. Everything in that book shouldn't be understood literally. The writers of the book just wanted to present their knowledge in a figurative manner. It must have been the fad of their day or something. And another thing, you don't have to find a scientific explanation for everything that is written in the bible. What is important is that you understand the morals, values, and lessons shown by those stories.quote> On the defense of the existence of a higher power: originally posted by: Deever Ok, this is my agnostic/deist side talking now (I'm really thinking of converting). God (capital G God) may not exist, Buddha may not exist, Allah may not exist, but I'm 100 percent sure that there's a higher power out there. Let's assume we came into being thanks to the Big Bang. According to the Big Bang, everything in the universe was compacted into such a small space (probably atom-size space) and then BOOM! All sorts of matter scattered all over the place (and you know the rest). I ask you this: where did all that compacted matter come from in the first place? It couldn't just appear like that on itself. Someone placed that compacted matter there. Someone started the ball rolling.quote> Please don't kill me. EDIT: One more thing... You might ask where the higher power who started all this came from. I myself no longer bother to answer that question. Only he knows were he came from.

AHEM! To the folks at the religion thread in current events, I would suggest you move your friendly argumentations here. I just did. Just to clarify: All the things written below, down to the word 'rolling', are my opinions, okay? Anyway, on the Christian Bible topic thing: Some of you might say that these things or events depicted in the bible are 'miracle grade' events, to the extent that some would think: "It's a miracle!", or maybe: "Dude, that's exaggerated. That can't be true. It's wrong." Looking at the higher power from an agnostic/deist angle (what's the difference between the two anyway?): God (capital G God) may not exist, Buddha may not exist, Allah may not exist, but I'm 100 percent sure that there's a higher power out there. Let's assume we came into being thanks to the Big Bang. According to the Big Bang, everything in the universe was compacted into such a small space (probably atom-size space) and then BOOM!
