  1. Question about U drive it

No, thee isn't a U drive it thing in SCS, that is exclusively a SimCity thing and not one that is in Societies. The demo I heard is coming out sometime before xmas this year, but who knows really, they could put it off until after the shopping holiday season so that they make more sales by people that can't wait on a demo and have to go out and buy the game.
  2. I'd like to know how this makes the game more difficult? To me the difficulty of SC4 was many things, but in SCS it seems all I need to do is build things to make the peeps happy, there is no circle of influences so I can build power plants on the other side of the map, when I need more tool energy but a park doesn't look right in my town, I simply build 20 of them over next to the power plant on the other side of the map and reep the reward. It's little things like this that make the game overly easy and so I am now wondering what the changes you made to the Difficultysettings.xml file actually did to make the game more difficult for you? It didn't add anything new I would imagine, so what does it change? Thanks, Originally posted by: Vesson So I've done some tinkering myself on the XML file that was suggested here (thanks). Here's what you want to enter if you want an "Actually Challenging Game ". You'll find the file Difficultylevels in Simcity Societies/Data/XMLdb/Game/Difficultysettings Change the third paragraph to: <DifficulyLevel ID="Challenging" index="2" stringID="DIFFICULTY_LEVEL_CHALLENGING"> <Value ID="GlobalDailyModifier" float="-3.5"/> <Value ID="JobEfficiencyRelaxed" float="0.2"/> </DifficulyLevel> </DifficulyLevelTable> I had a slightly tough time of things using these settings in a production/manufacturing type city where I used a bunch of crime producing venues and a coal factory dead in the middle of town... Therefore you might want to lower jobefficiencyrelaxed to .1 and globaldailymodifier to -4... though having said that my greatest challenge was rougue sims (which i'm pretty sure are spawned due to the large minus on the globaldailymodifier) which I musta spent 30 grand worth of SWAT teams on. The game played well though and now I feel I pretty much have the map under control. Anyone else have any settings they've experimented with?quote>
  3. Disasters

Can't vote in the poll since there are many options I'd like to see for OPTIONAL disasters. They would all have to be natural realistic disasters, not godzillas roaming the streets or giant robots. Give me floods, fires, tornados, sunamis etc.
  4. Water Pipes

Yes, I would miss them just like I'll miss zoning large swatches of landscape to allow building what I want bult there. It may have been a tedius process to some people but the overall effect of using it towards reducing my budget is what gave it it's place in SC4 in my opinion. The tediusness to some of having to lay the pipes can not be denied, but the overall effect of cosing my city money to place them and to maintain them is where the value is in water pipes and SC4 in my opinion. Of course they can try to simulate it by just adding a couple numbers into the game to try to convince me that my city has water pipes but it will never be the same to me. I think instead of nixing the idea, they should have thought it out and twisted it to better accomodate people instead of just chopping it out of the game all together. Too much chopping is what has led SCS to be a SC down a different path instead of building on an already superb game to making it even better. They willy nilly chopped out much of what made SC4 a great game to trod down this "other" road that they are running down.

Okay, thanks for the clarification. Since I wipe my HDD's clean every 6 months I've just let AVG quarantine it away and if I ever want to uninstall it, I'll just let it sit on my HDD until I do my next disc wipe just for safetys sake since the rest of the program doesn't bring up a warning I feel relatively safe using it. It wouldnt be the first program that a virus scanner has tagged as a virus, that wasn't actually a virus but better safe than sorry. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my concerns,

I dont want to be an alarmist or anything and perhaps it's already been reported, but...... My AVG virus scanner (with the latest virus definitions as of 09/10/2006 is reporting a virus in the uninstall.exe. The reported virus is the Trojan horse Downloader.Zlob.DKM I've only downloaded it from the simtropolis website and it's probably just a false positive but never the less I'd like to hear if anybody else that is using a different scanner than the AVG scanner is also getting this reported to them. To be honest I have no idea what the Downloader.Zlob.DKM actually is, and for all I know theres nothing wrong with it and perhaps AVG just wants to alert me to it, but I'd appreciate it if the author of the program would let me know if it's just a false positive or if somehow it's become infected on the server. Thanks, See attached screenshot:
