  1. Global Warming

Interesting. Both those who claim global warming is the fault of humans and those who claim global warming is caused naturally, are rellying on scientific studies. To many variables make for to many stories. Be warned though, that scientific studies aren't completely un-biassed. Studies ordered by enviromentalists, will always lay the blame of global warming on the shoulders of humanity. Studies ordered by Corperations and industries, will always lay the blame on a matter of natural cuases. This makes this thread all the more tricky...... Make a descision: who do you think profit's more from altering the outcome of the studies? The corperations, or a handfull of universities? I tend to think that the studies of the renowned universities and scientists that are more reliable. Humans cause global warming. It's sad that science isn't the cutting edge, proof laden sword anymore. Science has become more like your television. You descide to flip on a certain channel and you decide wich source to belief. I wish that major countries' goverments would come up with their own studies, but I don't think that the USA or China would be to fond of doing that. They ARE major polluters after all.
  2. Shooting Rampage In Canada

I'm sticking with my opinion Constantina, that trying to get rid of stuff that will cause human violence is a lost cause. It's like trying to smack a puff of smoke to death. Even more so, I belief that violence in the world should be CONTROLLED and regulated rather then banned and forbidden. (though that's the kind of isseu scientists and psychologists should argue about, not little old me or you.) Violence will be around as long as humanity exists. Were to good at causing death and doom to stop doing it. What CAN help, or at least I belief it can, is controlling the flow of fire-arms. It's a solution that's just as hopeless, I know, but it's theoretically speaking a better option then trying to controll human violence. That kid would have been less likely to start killing if he had only his bare hands. ( I mean just look at him, he's pathetic. Only the gun could have made him that dangerous. ) There are a few questions that have been going through my mind.... Did the kid knew that there was police around? Was he actually looking for a showdown of that sort?
  3. You know you've played simcity too long when...

... when you get on your bike and scope around town to create an exact duplicate of it in SC4
  4. Shooting Rampage In Canada

Wow, this isn't something I expected to happen in Canada...... Let's not get paranoid and argue about what causes what and in who. Poeple like this have been around since the beginning of humanity and they will be around as long as you and I and all furhter generations exist the way we know it. Pointing fingers at things is just a way the modern society tries to explain it and even prevent it, while you really can't. It's modern media and the belief that one can controll everything in the world that makes poeple blame stuff. It's an eerie though, but this is a humane tradgedy with human causes and human results, the looks of wich has been around since prehistoric times and will contineu to be around untill we aren't. Good thing the police responded so vervently, it could have been a lot worse if they didn't.

  6. Avatar Caption Game

I'm smoking in a public place and trust me, telling me to stop is worse then indirectly inhaling.
  7. What was your first ever game & your gaming history?

I go quite a while back. My first computer ever was a BBC (that's kind of like an amiga.) I can still remember a ton of games that I played on that old machine, but I can't recall the names and even if I did, no one would probably know what I'm was talking about anyway. Then came my 386. The first time that I ever played simcity. Gosh is that a long time ago. Didn't even know how to play back then, I just popped down the 3x3 squared zones and wonder what the heck I was doing. I can remember playing the 7th guest on that one. That was an AWESOME game. I still have the CD's, but there isn't a computer around still able to play that stuff. Simant, Simfarm, theme hospital, Simisle. Simtower, now that was a neat little game. Worms Psycho pinball. Warcraft. Doom Heretic Monkey Island 486 Simcity 2000 Civilization 11'th hour Normality Dungeon keeper Starcraft Diablo I Theme hospital Mechwarrior II Death rally Balls of steel (that's a pinball game for the those finicky on language) Warcraft II Command and conquer Half-Life Monkey island II Thief II Then came my pentiums, because I absolutely wanted to play Simcity 3000. Dungeon keeper II Diablo II Black and white Civilization II Final fantasy IV through VIII. Final fantasy VII changed my world. The sims Warcraft III Startopia (AWESOME) Monkey Island III & IV And a lot more I can't even remember. Then there is my X-box, whom is currently gathering dust. The most memorable games I've played on that console are: Halo, Thief 3, Project zero, Bard's tale and a lot of games to weak to leave an impression on my memory. I need to buy a new comp to play the next generation of games. I can't keep playing Diablo II forever.
  8. Sci Fi Room

Give me Fasa's Battletech universe any day. Especially the bits about the clans. Anyone who has ever played Mechwarrior will know what I'm talking about.
  9. Ah, I can still remember me playing simcity one. ( that's the first version were you couldn't even descide how big your zones were.) One of the nicest things about it, or at least one of it's patches, was that you could RADICALLY change the style. Want a medival city? you've got it! Cityhall would change into a castle and the icecream store would become the local tavern. Want a city on mars? CAPOW all residential zones turned into bio-domes and the grass became red rock. Want an azian city/cavemen city/European city/American City/ Western city/ (the list went on and on.) It would be sweet if simcity 5 could incorporate these ideas again. Allthough they would need to sacrefice a bit on realism...... Hard to inmagine traffic congestion in a medival town and what would the train lines become? Also an INCREASE of realism would be nice. Simcity 2000 had weather variables. Windmills would speed up in a stormy autumn, while the solar plants would become useless. Also the chance of floods changed with the time of season. How about a military base you can actually use BTW? I can still remember me fighting those huge mechanical, city-leveling spiders with my cities army! That was cool! Also, whatever maxis should does, they should give us better manuals for pitty sake! Simcity had a manuel the size of a bible. Simcity 2000 had 188 of infromation goodness, including poems, historical backgrounds and in-depth explenation of all the systems. Simcity 3000's manuel was allright, though I picked most of the info of the net. And don't even get me started on Simcity 4's manual!!! 88 pages is nothing for a game this complex and how DARE they suck the money out of us by letting prima publish a better guide shortly after publishing the game, that you have to pay EXTRA money for! Preposterous. Anyway, all my new idea's are concepts the previous simcities allready had. They should get back to their roots.
