  1. My Sims won't take highway!

You have no way for them to return from their jobs. You need an off-ramp on the other side of the highway & connect it to the otherside via an overpass.
  2. NAM General Discussion Thread

Date: 7/18/2004 11:36:20 PM Author: Date:7/18/2004 11:05:05 PM Author:ardecila Can we get that double OneWayRoad effect with rails? That'd be awesome. I don't know if it's just me, but I don't really know what you're getting at here exactly. Perhaps you could actually be a bit more clear/specific; set-up etc. QUOTE] I think what he means is having both tracks on a single rail tile going the same way. Is this what you mean ardecila? If not then throw this down on the table as an idea too plz
  3. Building Melbourne, Australia

I've got a melbourne city going. CBD part was easy, had to re-orient the river a bit to get distances right. Running along East melbourne with wellington parade & victoria street was a bit hard at first, but finally got that. Same with south melbourne, all the streets going everywhere. I havn't played it in a few months but my major problem was Punt road & Swan st. I couldn't get them to orient right; ended up getting them in, but they look a bit wierd. I'd love to see the new 'Southern Cross Station' as a bat model; that'd be pretty funky. For zoning purposes you also find a few large buildings in the south melbourne area along St kilda rd out near high st & at the interchange of kings way/queens rd with st kilda rd.
  4. I've done some digging around the net and found some sites which contain detailed information on 3DS files. Hopefully this may be helpful. We might be able to relate it back to an S3D this way too. http://www.whisqu.se/per/docs/graphics56.htm - A lot of unknowns in this description. http://www.the-labs.com/Blender/3dsspec.html - An update spec of the above site. http://www.spacesimulator.net/tut4_3dsloader.html - Detailed description http://www.cyberloonies.com/3DSFTK4.htm - another good detailed description. explains what everything does. I was going to paste the information here but some of it went for 10-20 pages.
  5. The reader allows you to add/delete anims. but everytime I try delete one it crashes. Just looking at the functional grand-central station plugin. It has 20 S3D files, all at different resolutions, however all of these apart from one only have one anim. entry. The one that has multiple anim entries contains 17. Just playing with an S3D and I cannot see what purpose the anim. entries serve in a non-moving 3D image.
  6. Going back to the 'anim' talk. Looking through one of my 3D programs it has commands for creating & removing Keyframes for animations. This is part of the standard 3DS file and an example in the help file shows how to make a person walk down the road, moving the legs, feet and arms properly. Will need to play with it a bit more in relation to SC4 and see how the animation pieces relate to a flat non-moving 3D file.
  7. Remove the avenue median!!!

Most of the 4-lane roads here in Melbourne, Australia are a mix of both. In the inner suburbs and outer suburbs that built bigger than they were supposed to and roads had to be widened without tearing down buildings there is no median, just a double line down the middle. However in most outer suburbs and planned areas or in the CBD there is a median down the middle. [edit]oh yeah, and on most roads with the medians there is a breach every so often with a right-turn lane so you can do a u-turn and go back instead of going all the way to the traffic lights.[/edit]
