  1. Prob w/ Simcity 4

Hi guys! Thanks SO much for that help! I tried all of the ones recommended! I don't know which one worked, but it seems to work now. I think it might've been: updating the video drivers (although I think my drivers may already have been the latest ones); switching the virtual memory to 4096MB for both (although my virtual memory was not 4096MB it was around 2200MB); or switching the graphics system to software rendering. Actually I think it most likely was the last one, because the screen totally changed. Anyway, thanks again, everything seems to be working now, and I can play beyond 5 minutes so far! :-)
  2. Prob w/ Simcity 4

Thanks so much Constantina! I tried playing a new city or game too and it still did the same. Any other thoughts? I really appreciate it!
  3. Hi, could someone please help me with Simcity 4? I want to enjoy this game but alas I am unable to! :-( I installed SC4: Deluxe edition. I also downloaded and installed the most recent patch. But unfortunately, when I run the tutorial, or when I try to play a new game/new city, SC4 gets about 5 minutes in and then freezes or locks up. I tried turning on all the video settings to "low" and uncheckmarking all the little featuers like "waves" in the water or "clouds," and then rebooting, but it still locks up or freezes. Well let me clarify: it's not entirely frozen "frozen," because I can move the mouse (arrow cursor) around. But I can't seem to do anything else. For example when I try to alt-tab back over to my desktop, the SC4 screen becomes black, although I can still hear the SC4 music. I can't ctrl-alt-del either. Nothing shows up. Only the black screen remains. I can't select anything within the game or otherwise manipulate the game. I can't do anything so I have to manually shut down my computer. Basically I can only play SC4 for like 5 minutes. My computer is: Windows XP: Home, AMD Athlon 64 Processor 2800+, 1.8 GHz, 704 MB RAM. I think it might have something to do with my video card? I checked the Device Manager in the Hardware section under Display Adapters. It says: VIA/S3G UniChromeII Graphics. But I don't know how much memory it has, or at least I can't find it? Any help or advice where to go please? I bought it from Target the other day, but now can't seem to play it. Maybe I should return it? Please help. Thanks very much. Nat
