Commercial Jobs' Quadrupler
Need4Camaro replied to PiggeeWeiSoon's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
The problem likely isn't the fact that they cannot get to work or there are no jobs. The problem is probably the fact that there are no SUITABLE jobs to match their education and income level within a reasonable range... For example if you put a huge R$ community by an High Tech Industrial Park. They'll still be unemployed because they don't have the necessary skills to work in an environment like that. Same goes if you put a R$$ community near C$$$ offices... they cannot work there. You should look into providing either low service work or provide your Residents with a higher standard of living, schools, library's, musuems and Healthcare... -

Evillions - Yes Expenses Cost To Develope - This is how much it costs you to biuld your development. Monthly Costs - This is how much you spend per month to maintain your development - If your income is greater than this figure then this is NOT deducted from your points. Income CJ Monthly Income: I should really get rid of this but this is how much you make per GAME simulated month Minimum Monthly Income: Before anyone gets paid, the game must be ran for ATLEAST 3 months, this is how much you earn every 3 GAME months as a bare minimum Total Income: Your total income, how much you REALLY make after the expenses have been deducted and after we total in how many months the game will be run... As for your points.. you DO NOT recieve your post points every month. You only recieve them once per score update... after you recieve them then you have to post again. Posts are not tallied per month, you recieve income for them only ONCE... -

Attention ALL members of Blue Hope. I have created a Calculator in which you may PUBLICALLY USE to get a ballpark figure on your development costs and determine whether or not it would be affordable. It requires Microsoft Excell and can be downloaded HERE and you may use it to get an idea of what you're working with vs your points. You CANNOT however post your own deeds to properties... That is still the function of the estimators... -

Whoa.. ..miss a day and come back to find a full house! deathtopumpkins - Incredible I completely missed yours.. I'm really sorry ..I'll start on it first... un1 - Okay - I'll begin your request... .I've updated the Calculator and will post it shortly mapmaker89 - I've updated the Calculator... the new one is MUCH more efficient... Houston_Fan - I'll quote that for you.. ..what standards will it be biult upon? Median Size? ect? Will Highway 125 Toll work? kj3400 - It would come very close to it.. ..likely to replace the road west of your development. Evillions - Cool I'll begin immediately...and yes each post gives you 1 point.. ...I'll address that... and thanks deion30296 - Nice idea but unless you propose a Monorail instead I would suggest making an deal with Chriss as he already has plans to connect a light rail service between South Island and Downtown Newark. chriss - Whoa thats nice Um can you tell me what grid area you want central square to be located?... ________________________________________________ Benedict and Chriss I am calculating your deeds with the new calculator and will report back to you with new deeds. Expect a very large update within the near future... ... Tons of requests to fullfill and proposals to request. -

Evillions - I also need to know where your development is located (what Parcel and Grid) before I can biuld it. Also I won't beable to give you your own powerplant yet as they're too expensive. You only started with 30 Points. I CAN however connect you to the city power for no cost... -

The images I posted were all from actual in game shots... ..even the overview of the map was collected from the highest zoom level and put together as a giant image map piece by piece.. ..of course if you're still willing then I'll definately add you in -

kj3400 - Yup and they're not just gantries... It's a glass dome that extends over the Highway for sunken level roads... FreewayofFlight - Okay, you want it tolled I assume? deathtopumpkins - Welcome aboard. You can just copy my banner or make your own if you wish. But yes just submit your development plans... and we'll go from there... -

Almighty Nienaber - It was from the Lantia Update by MPTC... It's a bit distored because he resaved it into a lower quality .JPG file and yes, thats the way Lantia looks now... FreewayofFlight - That development is on a incline that is alittle too steep to support it. You'll have to look for terrain that is slightly more level.. ..Also plan your developments on the image and not a seperate image.. un1 - Don't make deeds until the development is approved otherwise you might give someone property that they cannot afford. Just make quotes in the beggining. chriss - I'll be waiting to see... Sounds like a great plan Shingure - Between Turner Station and Benedicts Portion of the Oconee Express? ... I'll have to calculate the tiles... ...I'm in process of making a final calculator so give me a second on that one.. Zarp - Sorry to see you go, I agree things have been a bit hectic lately but I still do have intentions of getting things together, it's just this project takes a bit more time than I anticipated with things going on around me aswell... ______________________________________ First a small newspaper A link to the article Second.. Yoshiisland I have a request for you... Can you also construct a sunken highway wall for the E/W Connector? It's a glass wall that encases the highway and has internal nightlighting... It will sit on a Slope for the wall... ..the glass roof will overhang the highway while the grey are is sloped concrete... The black sloped area inside the glass dome is a lamp mount while the yellow area are the lights, there's the lights per mount and they stream for the entire tile without any breaks. Front View! Sign Mount - I'm going to request signs for them later... Top / Side View... The exterior side will have sidewalks. They don't need to be functional. Also put some flora and night lamps on the sidewalk just where it meets to glass dome... and here's another request... Can you make these street lamps? 2 Per tile and make them overhang for a total of 3 tiles meaning one plop will give you 6 street lamps for 3 tiles? And the same for these - only make them plop in the center of both a RHW-4 and RHW-6... Thank you.... As for the requests, I'm preparing them and will post them upon completion of the calculator. -

kj3400 - Great job! I'll get to work on all of that immediately - and no .. all civic services are owned by the city. willg - First question - no... or atleast not yet. Newark's commerce sectors are becoming too large for both its residential structure and industrial structures to support. There's no demand for it. Right now we REALLY need to refocus on what Newark was really about... ...Drilling oil and Mining coal. Without a strong backbone economy, why would businesses want to move to an island isolated by 4,000 miles worth of water? Second question - your images arn't displaying for us... you have to host them on Photobucket or imageshack.... Charles Rodulfo - Thank you! deion30296 - You were supposed to click "C2" of Parcel 17 in the table below the image and actually DRAW your development out. I cannot do anything with the information you gave me. Also just to let you know, that area resides on a very steep slope so it is going to be next to impossible to construct a development there... -

FreewayofFlight - Excellent plan... I'll get some in-game shots of the areas it will encompass... Chriss - Your GLR is done and is looking nice... I'll post it on the next update along with your deed... ..Also to let you know, it MAY be impossible to biuld a Subway across the river as it's such a steep drop into the sea that the Subway doesn't like it... Perhaps instead it would be better to go EL over the Bridge and when it lands in Downtown to have the GLR ride in the median of Highway 35... or go Subway after the Bridge... -

FreewayofFlight - I could probably construct a Dual Trumpet Interchange for the proposed 504 and 101 Turnpike... ...I'll play with it and see because I want to construct it before I make a sign request. For Hwy 25 and 304... 25 Exists outside of Auringy City and although there is traffic, it's not enough to hurt the capacity of both of the divided ghways to warrent an interchange. On a rough estimate, a road that length would consume somewere around 200 tiles... I'm not certain exactly how much it would cost yet... I'll post the ad up later which will contain the proposal and how much it would cost to biuld... deion30296 - Hello and welcome to Blue Hope. You can begin by visiting my website and selecting Start Developing. Select a Parcel of your choice and then a grid of your choice. From there... copy the image and map out your plan... post the new image on photobucket and post it in this CJ and someone will tell you how much it costs... ...then we go from there and developing it... Evillions - Which image? un1 - Nice! -

FreewayofFlight - Great ideas! I like Option 1 and 3 the best... For option 1 I will have to consent with Willg and use some imminant domain as the westbound road doesn't quite make it entirely through the city... For Option 3... 504 Sounds like an excellent idea... and perhaps it will allow new access into Downtown aswell with a new bridge or perhaps it will be the Atlantic Drive extension... I will either biuld the roadway myself or sell the contract for someone to biuld it cosigned as Highway 504. If it is purchased by the Newark Turnpike Enterprise then it will be a Cosigned 504 Toll and Newark Turnpike 102 or something to that nature... Perhaps it will be the first push to centralize a rail unit through a Highway... ... I'm going to set up the plan for it and produce a map showing the proposed route soon unless you want to propose the route and biuld it... mapmaker89 - Great idea -

Shingure - Thats the Oconee Express Rail line which is mostly unpurchased. Benedict owns a small portion in Newark (Parcel 17) which extends from "The Links" Southwestward -
These photos were taken on April 29th at 6 P.M., the peak of Atlanta Rushhour on Peachtree Street - the main arterial road through downtown... I was amongst 10 other cars on this 5 mile stretch of road... Fuel prices are seriously bogging Atlanta down. The freeways are experiencing simular results. It is almost easy to do 70 - 80 MPH on I-75/85 - I-285 during both morning and evening rushhour... This gas gouge isn't funny at all...

FlyingHat - Excellent, I'm going to coordinate you and MPTC together for the website development. I'm going to divide it upon 5 catagories so we can keep it simple. The most important thing is that the site stays up to date. So for now it's going to be primarily focused on the Grid Photos, Civic Services, and Transportation Maps. Then of course there will be the option to download Newarks Maps and Calculators. If you want to make an online calculator, do you think you will beable to change a certain variable within it every so often because I'm also going to add an "economical factor" as people are getting developments a bit too easy now... The economical factor will coincide with the "economy" of Newark so it will change from time to time... kj3400 - Good job jacqulina - Thank you! Voulpiotis - Thanks. Most of the time, the grids were INTENTIONALLY left on for developmental purposes for the users, that way they can see how many tiles they're dealing with. -

FreewayofFlight - Nice ideas. It would be hard to impliment #1 as it would be very difficult to manuever the oneway road around the eastern side of the city as the 101 Turnpike Interchange exists there... For Idea #2 - Thats a nice idea, just wouldnt be called 101 Spur as the Turnpike numbering systems are different from Newarks but it still could be owned and apart of the Newark Turnpike Enterprise. For idea #3 - I'll let chriss or Tuckaway Transportation (or anyone for that matter) decide if they want to open up light rail service through that area. Perhaps it could run parrallel to the SSRL all the way to Newark. I'll fetch an image for you real quick -

belfastuniguy - Not to be rude my friend but even if you've been to America... Have you tried opperating there for atleast a year? Alot of you who're comparing gas prices between America, UK, and Europe are comparing apples and oranges. While prices are indeed much higher there, cars are 200 times more important in the United States than both of those countries combined. You cannot just HOP on a train in Atlanta or MOST American cities for that matter and expect to get where you need to go. At best... 15 miles outside of the city center. Jobs and development in America are FAR more spread out... My AVERAGE commutes between every job I have worked in Atlanta has been 40 Miles at bare minimum. On an easy day I am forced to drive about 100 Miles meaning I run through a tank of gas in less than a week. OR roughly $70 for every 4 days. I can spend between $300 - $500 per month just to do my daily tasks... there are no real alternatives. It has nothing to do with my personal freedom but simply the fact that there is no other way... Or atleast not yet. High Speed Rail, if it ever comes out won't be a valuable solution. A system such as that won't beable to cover every important area of America because the country is too large. It would be far too expensive to implement something like that. We have one Network that connects the Northeast called the Acela and although it is fascinating, its far from removing the need for the automobile even in that area because it can only connect major areas. What if you work 50 miles west of the line? Its far too expensive to construct numerous amount of branches for the numerous amount of possabilities that might ensue in America. You need a car for the flexability. -

Houston_Fan - Yeah I'll try and get that for you! FlyingHat - Nice, I'll get that up... willg - 200 Tiles is quite large. I'd need to count that but I may let you do so under a condition... You share a terminal with MPTC who also wants an Airport. Oh yes and you're definately going to need transportation options to get around something that large, remember to account for the fact that there is a Highway and Railroad that services that area / your airport...
