I'll post my new ghetto soon, but trouble is I keep getting r$$ and r$$$ moving in even though I'm using lots of NIMBY lots, there is a bunch of pollution, no schools or hospitals in the area and a huge r$ demand.

Currently in my city of 75,000, I don't have any wealthy sims. I also notice that some of my CO$$$ towers have like 500 jobs vacant, when clearly some of my citizens are unemployed. My city is about 90-95% R$$. My education sits barely below 200. Do I need wealthy sims to take those jobs? Could this be holding commercial demand back?
-
Ok, I guess I was a bit unclear. I originally set taxes high for R$$$ because I was building neighborhoods that would be ruined by R$$$ sims. I was just wondering if they are necessary for a healthy city. Or can i continue to keep them out?

Sorry I should have mentioned that I put the tax for R$$$ at 20%. I'm just wondering if it's holding my city back.

I downloaded a few buildings from the stex and they are very nice but they tend to take over my city. It's not the style I want for this particular city, so I want to get rid of them. Will it cause problems if I delete them from the plugins folder? Should I delete all instances in the city before I try to delete the plugins?

Question about deleting some custom buildings

Yeah that's what happened to me, I missed a few lots and ended up finding blank lots. -
This would be awesome, but I wouldn't want all the mods some people have.

Guys, I don't think it's really a big deal. If wikipedia wants to single us out and delete our article, so be it. They've already proved how fine an establishment they are. SimTrop is number 4 on google for "sim city fansite" searches anyhow. Let them destroy perfectly good content.

Great work! I really liked that port. Nice city layout! -
I am working on a large tile city right now. Basically I started by planning the Highway network. The core downtown and industrial center will be encircled by the highways which then branch out to service the sprawling suburbs. I developed some medium residential in the city center. So far I haven't had any problems with demand for my suburbs.

I've been downloading a bunch of lots and it seems that none of them show up if they use maxis buildings. Everything else will be there but the building.

It wasn't the brown box. But I think I've got the files I needed (bldgprop .dat files)

I've come up with an idea for an interesting city. It will be an island nation metropolis on an strangely terraformed plot of land. The best I can describe it is that it is 4 plateaus stacked on top of each other. This got me thinking about how I could design the city. I've planned on making the top and smallest level for the totalitarian government to reside along with the incredibly rich and elite of the nation. The next level down will be home to wealthy business owners, executives etc. The top two layers will have the best possible healthcare and education. The next layer down will house the CBD and main core of the city. Lot's of planning will go into design of the MT here as nearly all of the islands inhabitants will commute here and back daily. The lowest level will be home to the poor and middle class. Education healthcare and safety are likely to be sub-par. The lowest level will also contain the industrial compounds and seaports. This will keep goods moving and out of the central city. The national goverment will control all aspects of life on the island including transportation, education, healthcare, most business and the media. Access to the topmost level is strictly regulated and typically only possible by helicopter. Transport routes between levels of the island will be controlled by the government, often requiring payment to pass through. I haven't taken any pictures yet but if you're interested I could get some, otherwise, post your thoughts and ideas!
